  1. My strap is a Maruszczyk PES40 'Retro' much like this. 4 inches wide, lots of padding. I have several heavy basses and this makes all of them a breeze to wear. I used a Comfort Strapp for many years, this thing is more comfortable if anything (although I would also heartily recommend the Comfort Strapp).
  2. Year of the Cat - Al Stewart
  3. WANT! Oh my god, that's my perfect ska bass ❤
  4. My Thunder 1A has a single split pickup, but it ain't no Precision. For me, unless it's a Fender or Squier Precision, it's not a Precision. Now waiting for pedants to blow holes in my argument
  5. I should also mention that the fabulous Lawrie Keys at Tempo in Southall had been kind enough to lend me a bass for the night, so if the Wal hadn't arrived in time we'd still have been able to play.
  6. Chapel of Love - The Dixie Cups
  7. Yeah but... Oh bog off [/runs out of vocabulary]
  8. Minute by Minute - The Doobie Brothers
  9. Harsh! But entirely fair
  10. Waaay back in 1987, our extremely good rock-pop band played a gig at a now-long-dead venue in Reading (the Majestic, for anyone who remembers it/cares) one evening - afterwards all the stuff gets loaded into the van ready for the next gig in London a few days later. We get to the London venue (the fabulous Red Lion in Brentford, RIP), all the stuff comes off the van... except for the long black case with 'Wal' on it... frantic phone calls all round, eventually in desperation I called the Majestic... "Ah yes, it's sitting in the manager's office...". A mate goes to pick it up, races up the M4 and puts it into my hands 5 mins before we go on... From then on, my bass ALWAYS came home with me. As a side note, that was the night I first met my ex-wife.
  11. If it was Cardiff-ish, I'd be up for it.
  12. I’m Going Slightly Mad - Queen
  13. Stay With Me Till Dawn - Judie Tzuke
  14. Hell yes, he was absolutely key. I particularly love his work on Steeltown, the whole album is a bass tour de force from first note to last. And to cap it all, he's a really nice bloke too.
  15. Just a Little Herb - Aswad
  16. I count myself as very lucky -- it's the same ivory-tinkler in both bands, and I've only ever once had to ask him to go easy on the old left hand. That was back when we first started playing together, and he's steered clear of it ever since.
  17. Just to show there's no hard feelings, I've bought you a lovely pot plant as a peace offering.
  18. Wrecking Ball - the Boss
  19. Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
  20. Good Morning Starshine - Oliver. Known for the socially and politically incisive nature of its lyrics: Gliddy glub gloopy, nibby nabby noopy la, la, la, lo, lo Sabba sibby sabba, nooby abba nabba, le, le, lo, lo Tooby ooby walla, nooby abba naba. I think that's a message we can all get behind in these dark times.
  21. Yes, somebody appears to be chopping onions very near me too.
  22. These Boots Are Made for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra
  23. Ouch! - The Rutles
