Twickenham-bound today.
COYB! 💙🖤🤍
-
My parents lived there some years back.
On match days traffic would be stopped from entering the area close to the stadium. The roads would be heaving with fans on foot. I'd have to cross the Police line to visit my folks on London Road.
I was a motorcyclist then. Quite often I would be escorted by a mounted Police officer until they were satisfied that I was genuinely visiting a resident. Those horses are impressive.
Have a pint in The Cabbage Patch for me!

NR/PAD (New Rehearsal / Practice Amp Day) incoming... the world's scruffiest TC BG250 combo.

Remove the grill and brush paint it with some blingy Hammerite colours. The Tolex is going to be less noticeable and maybe give hipsters some trouser tentage as it looks genuinely used.
Colourful hammered finishes make stuff like this pop, they disguise most minor imperfections and they're a very good rust treatment and preventative.
Even if you do nowt to change it, I hope you get some fun out of it.

I certainly will. I've been using a BG250 at a rehearsal studio and have been pleasantly surprised by it. I'm going to replace my current Behringer BX600 rehearsal amp with the TC, its main advantages being more power and less weight. The Behringer weighs an absolute ton for such a small box.
Good idea with the Hammerite. I've got a tin of silver, but I might see what else is out there.

Took a little trip to the seaside this weekend, down to Dorset. I was walking along the beach when I saw a bloke and a woman shouting, and then they started fighting. It got so bad that the police turned up, but instead of calming things down the copper started hitting the guy with his baton. Then the bloke got hold of the baton and started hitting his wife AND the copper.
Then just when I couldn’t imagine things getting any worse, a crocodile turned up and stole all the sausages.

Had one of those "Dad this is my new number" scam texts this morning. Rather than immediately delete it, I'm going to see how long I can keep them going. I asked "is that you Felicity?" and they said yes. Obvs I do not have a daughter named Felicity
So now I've invented Felicity's no-good bum of a husband Hugo, who keeps selling her iPhones to fund his gambling habit. Let's see if they take that bait too.

I wish I had the time to play
I recently got a message on my phone about something I'm selling on Gumtree. After a couple of messages, the not uncommon "I'll send a courier to pick it up at 11 tomorrow, is that ok?" surfaced. I just replied "no problem, but I'll be at work at that time, you can collect from there, it's a Police Station and it'll be open".
Silence.

I've had a nesting box up in the garden for about ten years. This year, finally, at last, the great tits are in residence.

My neighbour has a small hole on the side of his roof, where I constantly see tits enter. I have already let him know very early this year, so he can fill up the hole before nesting starts, but apparently he missed it, now he'll have a noisy loft I guess
I had a teeny tiny gap at the side of my PVC fascia board under the gutter, and amazingly these buggers could still enter there. Would not have believed it without actually witnessing it. We chased them out then had it filled in with silicone, as they were very loudly knocking in there every morning, like some tiny woodpeckers. Only from like 7:30 to 10am just to definitely wake me up on a weekend, then they stopped for the day 😁

NWD (New Wireless Day) -- incoming Sennheiser G3. Ludicrous, ridiculous deal I couldn't walk away from.

Had an intermittent fault with one of my homemade cables at the weekend. Did some investigation, and on inspecting one of the plugs I found that ONE STRAND of the screen had escaped the solder and was just touching the core terminal. It may only have been the one strand, but it was enough to cause a short.
Note to self: in future, tin the bloody wires properly. *slaps self* -
Incoming NAD. Exciting stuff

Supposed to be seeing my kids and granddaughter today, but thanks to a stinking cold I've picked up I've had to postpone. I know that it's definitely the safest and most sensible thing to do. Doesn't make me any less fed up.

The power of music... I've just been moved to a tearful wreck by this lovely piece, 'Going Home' by Charlie Haden and Hank Jones. It's basically the Hovis theme from Dvorak's New World Symphony, for piano and bass. Maybe it's just that I'm just feeling fragile atm, but there's something so beautifully sparse and plaintive about it that I ended up with tears rolling down my cheeks.

Ah well, there's a nice start to the week. Redundancy looms.

Hi @Rich
Sorry to hear of your redundancy woes - however, it might be a blessing in disguise. Perhaps a career change? Or a short break? I'm sure you will be able to find something else in the same field. Hope so, if that's what you want.
BIG changes for me too, very shortly (more of that later). Best of luck good sir -

Just a heads up, if it happens. My sister took redundancy this year, which was the equivalent of two years pay. Although the first £30,000 redundancy was tax free, she got taxed at 40% on the rest. If she'd arranged for her redundancy to be paid over two years she could have saved herself a big chunk of tax.

Today I heard Led Zep's "No Quarter" for the first time.
The dullest, most morose waste of 7 minutes I have ever listened to. -

Missed out on Oasis tickets? Don't worry, you can recreate that reunion gig experience at home.
Simply stand 2 Lego figures at the far end of your garden, drink some warm watered-down beer, play a Slade single at 33rpm and set fire to £150. -

Car insurance renewal quote just landed.
Last year, £376.
This year, £635.
I don't bloody think so.

Daughter's wedding on Saturday. Speech written, proof-read and practised. Suit collected from cleaners. Car getting valeted tomorrow. Fingers crossed for the weather.

As if I didn't feel old enough already...
I've just found out that later this year I'm becoming a great-great-uncle.
Jeeves, bring my zimmer frame.

Like an absolute idiot, I sold my Novation K Station a while back because I wasn't using it. Now, of course, I could really really do with it. Twerp. *slaps self*
And predictably, they're now selling for twice what I let mine go for.
*slaps self again*

@jezzaboyhas it spot on.
Just how predictable are we?
