Flightradar is so cool. I've just watched some in-flight refuelling taking place over the North Sea.

It's not usually possible to see the fast jets doing operational stuff or operational traiing, at least for me. But if you want to watch fast-jet training, try west Texas (T-38s) and Snowdownia (Hawks, mostly from Valley). Sometimes you can see the electronic targets over the North Sea, but not often the aircraft flying interceptions.
Sometimes you get exotic stuff too. Hurricane hunters (mostly P-3s) over the Caribbean). NATO AWACS and reconnaissance aircraft over Bulgaria. Spitfires, Mustangs, SAAB Tunnan. The Canadian Lancaster when it came to the UK via Iceland.

I have reason to believe that an ebay seller I recently purchased from has been giving my name and address out to third parties without my consent. I think this is a breach of GDPR and the Data Protection Act. What are my options?

Data Protection Act does but I'm not sure what Ebay does to ensure it is observed as ultimately they act as the third party in the transaction and the name and address details must be given to ensure delivery from the seller.
Would say to discuss with Ebay, not sure they can do anything in all honesty

The latest Coke TV ad uses a new version of Willie Dixon's "I Just Want To Make Love To You" recorded by Joséphine de la Baume. It is so bad, it makes me wish I hadn't bothered cleaning my ears out. It's straight in at #2 with a bullet on my 'Things That Make Me Scramble For The TV Mute Button' list (the #1 spot is permanently occupied by the Marc Jacobs 'Daisydaisydaisydaisy' advert).
-
I don't know why they do it. I suppose it could be a negative reinforcement thing - I would rant at the telly whenever that Tui ad came on with the feckless, insipid, breathy cod-swing version of Chaka Khan's glorious "Ain't Nobody", but the upshot of my ire is that I will never book a holiday with Tui. Ever. But then it was fairly unlikely I would have done before they pushed my blood pressure up several notches...

I've noticed my left ear was a bit muffled of late, so all this week I've been popping a few drops of Otex in each evening in an attempt to soften it all up... last evening I gave it a good flush out with some hot water, and now not only can I hear in glorious stereo again, but I've got the makings of a good sized candle.

I use a wax removal tool purchased from eBay for a couple of quid. It’s the one with the silicone spiral heads, and does the job pretty well. Got fed up of paying £60 for a visit to a
specialist, after my NHS surgery stopped offering the service.
( Will probably still go for an occasional professional de-wax, but less often than previously needed.)

I didn't even realise that DIY wax removal kits were a thing. Now, I find this ...

These bloody celebrity gardeners are all liars. I saw one a while back advising us that horse manure would make strawberries tastier and more juicy. In reality, it does nothing to improve them at all.
I'm going back to double cream and I'd advise everyone else to do likewise. -

Having almost exclusively used my Sire V7 fiver for soul band gigs for the last few years, last night I took the Shuker out for a spin instead. Oh my god, I'd forgotten how lovely it is. I think the Sire will be gathering dust for a while.

A bandmate and I are going to a friend's surprise birthday party tomorrow, and I thought I'd look into taking the train... the train journey takes 2.5 hours (there are changes) and will cost 60 quid return for the two of us... it's a 90 minute drive and will cost approx 20 quid in fuel for the return trip. This, right here, is why nobody travels by train.
-
Neither my wife or I drive, so we use public transport a fair amount. Train fares are an absolute rip off to get around the country. We got a "two together" rail card a while ago that helps bring the cost down, but it's still expensive. That said, the amount of time we use the train, it probably still works out cheaper than owning a car.

One excellent side-effect of good bank holiday weather... everybody's having days out, so there was a really short queue for petrol at Costco. 134p a litre, get in

The only thing worse than going home from a holiday, is going home from a holiday on the day the bloody sun finally comes out. #raingod

On my hols in Italy at the moment... I was on a bus in Capri yesterday and got chatting to the young British couple sitting next to me... turns out they're from the same village near Reading that I was born/brought up in.

Wee bit of fret buzz on the Spector earlier. A tiny nth of a turn on the truss road and it's buzzless & singing like a canary again. God I love this bass.

Further to the 'community?' thread, do any of the Bristol BC massive fancy getting together for a pint and a yak? Maybe even a ruby?

A study by the Institute Of Incomplete Research has found that 6 out of 10 people.

My bandmate's old A/B switch died at our gig the other night. I said I'd take a look at it for him... just took it apart, and two of the three jack sockets fell apart in my hands

How topical!
Yesterday I bought my first ever five string (used) and although it's generally in good nick the jack socket is dodgy. I've taken it out and cleaned with WD40 and a rag but I later found that although it was fine with the cable I was using my Xvive transmitter doesn't like it at all.
Where's a good place to get replacement sockets? Strings Direct do a Pure Tone Full Contact one that looks pretty good and I have one in my basket atm but any other suggestions?
-
@plankspanker I get most of my electronics components from Bitsbox - they have Neutrik and Switchcraft jacks amongst others.

Suggested a new song to the ska band earlier ("She's Kerosene" by The Interruptors). Sax player said she doesn't want to do it because there are no "nice chords".
WTF is a 'nice' chord?

Just scored a Spector Q4 on eBay for £102.
Result.

@Marc S to answer your question, yes it sounds faaaar more expensive than 102 quid. Really superb tone... smooth lows and crisp glassy highs, and lots of power. I still can't believe my luck, a Spector for the price of an Encore.

Watching the mighty James Taylor Quartet, in Burnham-on-Sea of all places. Oh my word ❤
-
Spotted a really handsome P copy on my local Farcebook marketplace... nice purple finish with only a couple of minor dings, maple neck, on close viewing the action looked pretty low which was a good sign, and very cheap too... so I thought I'd get it as a possible base for modding... send a message... I missed it by 10 minutes apparently 😭

Finally joined the Covid club. Feeling utterly dreadful

Folks, please if you will keep your fingers crossed for my sister in law today... currently under the brain surgeon's knife to remove a tumour. 🤞🏼

41 years ago today, the crews of the MV Union Star and the RNLI Penlee lifeboat Solomon Browne all perished in a force 12 storm off the Cornish coast. The actions of the Penlee boat crew were later described by the rescue helicopter pilot as "The greatest act of courage that I have ever seen, and am ever likely to see".

I drink a lot of coffee during the day. A lot. But none of it ever tastes as good as the first cup of the day.
