2. I had the same, mine was £1650, I did tell the missus first, imagine if I hadn't, I would have regretted it for the rest of my life if I didn't, she only passed away last month Treat her to something she really wants and then spend the rest on yourself. Trust me, if you were in my place you'd understand why.
 3. Not sure what it is, but it is not a Fender bridge, the word unmodfied just fell into a deep dark hole.
 4.
Snap - almost I've been the proud owner of Little Bastard Number 1 of 100 (first one out the factory front door) since March 2010 & still love it to bits! No volume problems here - through LB112 + ABM Mini 48, abfab old school all tube goodness Best sounding amp I've ever had
There's a bit of an echo here...
 5. I've been a proud owner of the prototype one (the one without serial numbers) since Nov 2010, and still love it to bits, never had a problem with volume issues, I either mike it up or go d.i. 8. If you go to a music shop you can ask them for those polistyrene corner castings that they use inside the boxes to ship amps with, or make yorself some. Or as Gareth said smaller box inside bigger box but get a can of expanding foam (weighs next to nothing when settled) and seal the gaps
 9. EA Micro a.k.a. Euphonic Audio http://www.eaamps.com/index.php?p=micro&m=products http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ts/EA_Amps.html
 10.
It doesn't recognise drop tunings yet in polyphonic mode, but the others don't either. It's my favourite of the lot as chromatic tuner though.
and mine too. And you can get it on the iPhone, which, if you use the iRig interface you can do silent tuning just as a pedal does! And all that for only a fiver from the Apple Store, bargain!
 11.
Polytune would be an option, however it cannot be used for drop-tuning such as C. I'll try it though when I get a chance
tc electronic have announced a drop tuning free firmware update as incoming soon: tc electronic polytune
 12. I am hooked on the tc electronic polytune
 13. Oh... people will hate me for this. But any Mexican Fenders I have tried, I've found them to be utter sh|te. Sorry.
 14. I would consider that degree of modding a bit extreeme, but hey, don't forget it's his money, he can do as he pleases. Someone I know was working on replacing a fried circuit loom on an original vintage 1957 Gibson semi acoustic, the loom that came out consisted of the original pots (huge pots I should add, each as big as a wristwatch) variatone, filters, caps and what not, the whole thing looked like the inside of a washing machine circuitry, this was going to be replaced with all period correct stuff sourced from the original factory and I've heard the final bill was going to scrape the £1200 mark. So it doesn't surprise me, that in order to preserve the faithful originality of a vintage instrument someone would go to these lengths, but everything has to have its limits when such is to be done on a cheaper instruments.
 15.
A mate of mine recently bought a 5 string bass. I won't name brands or anything, but I think it was about £500 second hand. I think for the money it's a good bass. However, I was round at his the other night and he said that he was going to mod it a bit. I asked how much was "a bit" and he said he was going to change the circuit, pickups, tuners, bridge and nut. Now, whilst it's not a bass I would have bought, would people argue that there is a point where doing this sort of stuff is just insane? I pointed out that for what he was about to spend on hardware, he might as well get a custom bass made for him. Now before you ask, I think that the bass body was maybe ash or basswood, so it wasn't like it was something ludicrously expensive. I suppose the question is would you spend £500 on a bass then another £600 modding it? Or am I just totally wrong and that this is a viable move?
"and he said he was going to change the circuit, pickups, tuners, bridge and nut" That'll never come to £600. I'd say round ball park figure would be max £300.
 16.
Ah well, he should be judging my bass track for a Twinspirits contest next month! 18. Just a small note on the batteries: When the batteries are on their last leg, the transmitter status light goes from blue to red on both the receiver and the transmitter, which is a good warning sign, cause I've found out you can then play perhaps another hour from the red light, and when the end is near... it doesn't deteriorates or distort and fart, it just goes off! So when you see the red light swap batteries and you're ok. I didn't time the battery life but... these were the original cheapo GP ones that came with it, I have now fitted Duracell Ultra in there, hopefully they will last longer.
 19. Guilty, your honour, I have modded 4 Squier basses and lived to tell the tale. The world is your oyster, all bridges and all pickups shoud fit straight in, with bridges (Gotoh, Wilkinson, Badass make sure that they do say can fit on Fender style basses) As for pickups I have had SD Quarter Pound ones and they were good but for the P-Bass I prefer Lollar ones. I can't comment on Wizards but people here likes them.
 20. The title says - Markbass f1 issue, but then the body of the post says: Hi I'm looking for a Fender deluxe 5 strings, am I missing something? What is the issue with the Markbass F1 and how does it relate to... looking for a Fender deluxe 5 strings?

Or is that happening at a later date?
Well he promised to visit London and I have offered to have him as a gues, but it just hasn't happened yet. Besides, right now I have some serious home issues to deal with after my gf's passing.

Those of you who are fans of Alberto Rigoni will enjoy this new video, it's a new project in collaboration with another young italian bassist by the name of Simone Vignola, together they are: The BASStards and their new song is called Obsession. In this video Alberto plays a Dingwall ABZ 5 and Simone plays what looks like a Fender Jazz 5 strings with some strange pickups. Check it out!
