    I’ve asked on here once or twice what sort of sounds are folk actually getting out of some of these exotic boards and I know most folk are being creative and doing lots of interesting stuff but I never really get board envy. I’m a simple drive and comp guy and this is reflected in my board and mediocre playing 😀

    I don’t play at ear splitting volume or anyhing like that but I do notice the difference with the amp behind me. In one venue we have a sound tech and when I run a cleaner FOH and a dirty amp she always maintains it’s a better bass sound than other bands who play the same room. She’s very conscious of balancing the drums and stage with her foh mix so I know I’m not blasting my amp. I like having the amp behind me and I’ll likely continue to have it as it works for me. I use iems and we don’t have guitar amps on the stage. It’s been experience/experimenting that’s led me to this set up. It works for me.

    I use iem’s but still like an amp behind me tickling the back of the legs! If I pop out the iem I get a nice sense of the drums and bass with the foh giving me enough guitar and vocals. I might only pop the iem’s out on a few occasions but it’s nice to have that ‘live’ vibe from amp and drums it’s not super loud just enough to feel it.

    Price includes U.K. shipping. Nabbed a few weeks back as I was very keen to try one. I wanted to try running a compressor in the di out signal path but have decided it’s overkill. Experimentation completed. I’ll add a link as it’s quite a feature set on this guy but will say the extra tone options make it more than just a stand out compressor- using the 2kHz setting with my P bass brings in a fantastic upper mid sizzle just where it matters and can really enhance the bass playing live. I love a little bit of 2kHz. https://empresseffects.com/products/bass-compressor While this is a killer unit I’m sticking with my hyper luminal as I use the different compressor ’modes’ with different basses and have a setting preset for each bass for during my set - it’s just more practical for my needs to stick with what I have. And finally a killer review from Hondo!

    Two transformers - so you’re getting one always in the signal path and a second on the di. Version one always had the transformer in the circuit, v2 added another to the di out👍🏼

    I’ve a couple of those LBA transformers hiding under my board and they do add a certain quality to the signal path.

    Bit off topic but I’ve been looking at camera bags/backpacks which have the compartments as a gig bag stuff carrier solution… not sure what would accommodate a mic stand too but fishing gear is a good start.
