  1. Yeah I just saw it recently. Tried the cabs out today.
  2. The DFX pedals performing well then?
  3. I had a bit of a pedal journey and would say TRex Bass Juice with gain and mix set low… SGFX BetaV - If the bass soul food and spark booster had a baby but the original Beta was questioning paternity you’d be in the ball park of what it does. Yes it can sound dark but the filter is basically a mid control and the switch takes it out of the circuit or can set its point to be more mid forward or more lows which works interactively with the tone control. I have one on my board and like it. I’ve used the three other pedals mentioned and think it’s the best of all three. Took me a little while to ‘get it’ but a little tweaking and it’s a great wee box. Have you tried a compressor with the spark! It might just ‘lift’ it and give you some extra juice with out any big tonal shifts? I’d like to try the new UA 1176 comp as it can do a break up style tone from demos I’ve heard although only one decent bass demo.
  4. Anyone tried out the new update? Gonna be a few days before I can demo the new cab sims. Just wondering what folks opinions are if they’ve tried them.
  5. Welcome home
  6. You back in the country?
  7. Oooh should I🫣
  8. Same bug I don’t think I’ve any more outlets on my power brick. One would at the input and output of a pedal board be overkill? 😀
  9. If I had the need for it I’d buy it! Some of the synth sounds are banging.

I’m terrible with schematics… does it have an over engineered power supply. I’ll get my coat 😝
  11. I was just having a bit of fun. He asked if anyone knew the spacing and after your answer we’re still no wiser. It would have been quicker to do a google search (which I have done but didn’t fine out any more info) than type out that initial reply. Its not a secret and I’m sure it’s documented online somewhere…

If the buffer works and makes things sound more alive then yeah why not it’s just if it’s worth £££ to the person but we could argue that for any bit of £££ gear. I’d still like to try one but have neither the pedal board real estate or spare dollar to give it a whirl.
  13. I’ve no idea

He wouldn’t be there first boutique builder to “reengineer” a basic pedal and charge handsomely for the privilege. To be fair I have heard demos of his stuff and there is an audible ‘improvement’ when it’s engaged. I have a preamp I’m using and the difference when plugging into the amp directly and then into the preamp>amp it’s like the proverbial lifting a blanket off the speaker!
  15. In a word… No 😀
  16. I suppose if they can do it in software they would have the engineering capability to do it in a pedal using whatever digital trickery that would entail without it being a "plug-in in a pedal". If it sounds good and works then...

Anyone took the plunge on one of these yet?
  19. I’ve a TRex bass juice which at low gain adds a nice ‘bigger’ version of your bass but with mucho gain plus a fuzzy old school sounding tone. I have a Spark too and it’s well voiced for bass.
  20. For an LA-2A type comp you have to try the Effectrode PC-2A.
  21. It’s a minefield! What sounds are you trying to get? What bass tones/bands/songs are you trying to sound like? Fuzz? low gain? clanky? modern drive? Thickening up for an old school sound? Strident mid forward? Old time amp? That is not a complete list by any stretch 😀
  22. Selling my Colourbox as I now have other transformer based goodness in my signal chain. This has had a full once over from JHS due to a noise issue (which turned out to be caused by a cheap Amazon 9v wall wart) so is as up to date as you can get - they basically dropped in a brand new circuit with all the most up to date revisions so it’s as new. It’s been home use only but has been on a pedal board and used as a DI/recording preamp for some projects. JHS did a great video showing the CB as a preamp for a host of instruments and it’s a great tool for the home studio. There are two transformers, one on each output, so if you want some heft on you instruments you find it within this box. I have a couple of passive LBA transformers which I’m using on my board now instead of this so it’s surplus. Don’t fix it in the box get it right first time with this Neve based preamp! Full spec here: https://www.jhspedals.info/colour-box-v2 Might consider some p/x. Quite fancy a Squier Paranormal bass
  23. I have the Funkulator pedal which is the tone circuit in the Grizzly Bass. and it is a wonderfully useful tool in its own right and I think this may have the Redeemer buffer built in too. Considering you get a Funkulator plus an OD and distortion circuit this is cracking value.
  24. Just out of interest does this version have the internal dials for knee and attack? I read somewhere they added these on later models
  25. I’m not that far away 😉
