Finally a my basic take on a tube D.I. It takes your unbalanced guitar input and feeds it through a high-voltage tube preamp then out through a high-end DI transformer and out into a balanced XLR output. You also have a 1/4″ output up top, and you can switch between dry passthrough from the input or affected output from the preamp for the 1/4″ output.

 

• Controls: 1/4" Out Dry/Pre, Gain, Ground/Lift, Level
• Enclosure Size: 4.7 in x 3.7 in x 1.34 in (119 mm x 94 mm x 34 mm)
• Milliamp Draw: 500mA @ 9vdc Warmup, 250mA @ 9vdc After Warmup
• Polarity: Center-negative, like most guitar pedals
• Tubes: 1x 12AX7
• Voltage: 9-12vdc

I’ve a couple of those LBA transformers hiding under my board and they do add a certain quality to the signal path.

Sushi box pedals are the bomb!

 

I have the space heater which was the non DI version of the Finally, great at just adding some tube warmth to an amp too full blown all out overdrive.

 

There is a really good thread on Talkbass which Nathan (mr Sushi Box) is very active, a lot of users get some great results tube rolling on these pedals, swapping out for lower gain 12A type tubes to widen that sweet spot.
