  1. It’s nice when you can have an amp on stage along with iem to feel the low end and in a pinch iem only is fine but it’s nice to pop the iems out and listen to your amp trundling away behind you. That’s how I tend to run things for my two main venues.
  2. The oc10 is class. Had one in the 80’s band and it’s as good as any other oc2 clone out there. Definitely worth a punt for the price.
  3. Yeah I think it sounds class. I didn’t see any on the peach site. I’d be tempted to just nab - as I posted earlier GuitarGuitar said October for their stock and I’m just reluctant to buy without trying as the last bass I did this with was a great bass but just not a good fit for me.
  4. Sweet didn’t realise shops were getting them this early. I think what’s got my interest is that if the bridge was back in the 34” scale length position the bridge pick up would be in that p bass sweet spot or near enough to it and I think that’s what I liked about the demo I watched. Sounded great for the bridge position which isn’t normally my favourite sound on a j style set up. Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
  5. The Fender 800Pro head is a clean machine! It has no drive built in and looks like it's based on the Thunderfunk amps. While there are three bands of semi-parametric EQ this section of the amp is defeatable (although Bass and Treble remain in the circuit), it has built in compression and it's power section is massive sounding - it's more old school so the amp is about 14kg due to the toroidal transformers (I think it's Class A/B). More details here...
  6. More pictures added. I have rolls of Velcro I’ll include and the beauty of this board is the clearance so you can ‘hide’ stuff underneath. I had a thumpinator under mine with a coulle of other things I didn’t need to work about tweaking which gave me more space for a nice uncluttered board or more room for more pedals on top.
  7. I nabbed one in a trade as I was curious. It sounds like it’s not just a scoop at 800 but also a bump in the highs and lows. *Edit* The highs and lows are gain adjusted to maintain an even volume so not boosted so much as you don’t lose volume and the Q of the mid cut at 800Hz becomes narrower the more you dial the single control up. I’m guessing that’s why at lower settings (before noon) it can add to finger style and as you go higher the scoop is quite focused. I know it has the Redeemer buffer built in too. I’m not aware of how it achieves the scoop - inductor or otherwise - but there’s no volume change when engaging the pedal and it’s a sturdy wee box! I was trying it set anywhere from 1100/noon up to about 1500. It sounded great for finger styles set just below noon. Paired with a drive pedal it added another tonal colour taking an already decent low gain tone and adding an Ampeg scoop quality to it which I think sound great - really added a nice contrast to the drive pedal’s character (I was using new Beta MkV from SGFX) especially set up about noon for drive sounds and up at 1400/1500 for the one section where I bust out a little slap part in our Sweet Dreams cover. I found the Funkulator really lifted things up and made my jazz bass sound great - deep lows, crisp highs and just the right scoop, never too zingy or gackky on the high end. It’s a great pedal for only having one control and not for everyone but it’s got its own thing going on. Im a previous EWS BMC user which is another great wee eq but I don’t think it added the sweetness to the lows and highs either side of the frequency being cut the way the Funkulator does. I use iem and an on stage amp for feel and it definitely made for a nice sound to my in ears and never caused the amp to struggle. I’ll maybe not keep it forever but I’m enjoying what it brings to the board and how it adds a no brainer eq which actually works well giving me an instant A tone/B tone on my clean, finger style, on slap sounds and can enhance drive pedals to add more character/flavour. I wasn’t planning to write this much but it’s easy to overlook what on the surface seems like a very limited pedal.

We’ll keep an eye on the for sale thread as proof 🫢😀
  9. Well I’m sorted for DI’s on my board so it was never an issue. Good pedal though.
  10. Can include some Velcro if you’re not using dual lock! Away for a few days but returning the weekend and can post some pictures with the case and pedals removed.
  11. I once had a sound guy as if I could “not play that note!” during a sound check. “What don’t play a G! For the rest of the gig?” Yeah he replied. 😖
  12. I found that using the TRex with the mix and gain set down to nearly the minimum settings 7 or 8 o’clock and using the level for a small amount of boost sounds great. Just by being switched on in the signal chain and set as described above it adds something and it’s not simply a case of the “louder sounds better” effect (even though we know it does)! Still favouring the jazz bass with this one. Looking forward to comparing it and stacking it with the new SGFX Beta MkV this weekend

@EmmettC @tayste_2000 Just saying hi guys and I’m happy to sort out the deets as discussed with you both. Just posting on here for transparency etc.

I did the classic merengue test and held it above someone else’s head to make sure they all stayed in place.

I have a Simone secured and struggle to extricate my existing pedals with dual lock off the board which hs standard Velcro on there. It’s serious stuff!
  17. Nabbed one and now I’ve had some time with it I really like it. Never tried the DLX which I was very keen to try but did dig my OG Beta. The MkV does all the things I’d want this type of preamp/drive to do. I was joking earlier it’s like a cross between the original Beta/Bass Soul Food/Spark booster only with better components and dialled in for the bassist. I’m not sure what else is out there but my low gain drive box is well and truly ticked! No need for a clean blend and having the ability for do 9, 12 or 18v just opens up the headroom while retaining that great tone. Top job SGFX!

I use dual Lock and if you’re sneaky with it and don’t plan to move pedals about you can double up so you get extra clearance. One piece stuck to the board, one to the pedal and then two pieces back to back and boom. Easy to do and as it happens I’m selling a board with a dual lock already in place 😀
  19. I’m very keen to play one and see how it feels but if it’s comfy, hangs well on the strap and the scale feels good (looks like a regular scale but with the bridge closer into the centre of the body rather than towards the edge of the body) I’ll have one. The lobster unboxing showed off some sounds and I like them… even the bridge sound. My instinct was to think about Creamery Bisonic or DarkStar type swaps but I think I like it from that demo as is. GuitarGuitar say October due date but if Andertons get some sooner that could be the ticket.
  20. I have a wee cheat sheet for frequencies/notes that was very handy for quickly helping mitigate those boomy rooms or feedback The idea being if you play an A and you get boom you can work on the frequency of the note or the 5th as I believe they’re most likely the culprit notes/frequencies. To get the higher frequencies just double the numbers up for the respective range of the instrument causing the issue. If it’s an A note causing feedback the issue is likely gonna be a higher freq than what’s listed here usually but be either 440Hz 880Hz 1.7kHz 3.4kHz 6.8kHz or up and up approximately and if it’s a boomy resonance thing it could be worth checking 220Hz 110Hz 55Hz you get the idea. If that’s not working try the same simple process/equation for ‘the 5th’ which in this case is E. It helps if you can identity the offending note as that speeds up the problem solving rather than just twisting knobs mindlessly like our singer used to do before I gave him this chart! Its a simplistic formula but handy. To fix and issues you’ll obviously need an eq pedal so something with easy to grab sliders is useful as they tell you the frequency! The Genzler pedal on the for sales would be a great tool for this kinda thing. Ignore the missing # for the B-F#😖
  21. Yeah I’d thought about that option just for fun but was happy with how it sounded as was. The beauty of the Dingwall was the pick ups are all the same size. Also the NG models I think still have the 3 pick up route so you could move the pick ups about too and experiment with their position.
  22. Yeah I’d agree it’s a specific sound and it does sound good but I was thinking it would have Ben a good match (and it was) in my 80’s band. The look and sound being able to cop a solid p bass style sound. The bridge pick up has that same p bass quality but just a bit more brighter. The beauty of the same pick up in three positions is if you like the core sound then you get variations on that. I think they’re gray basses but just not as comfy for a wee shortie like me 😀
  23. Just an overall feel for me. Although comfortable it just didn’t feel as natural as a F style guitar but I’ve always struggled with TB shape basses.
