  1. Good to know others have positive experiences. The right angled xlr worh selectable ‘orientation’ is a such a simple yet desirable service!
  2. This a great fuzz. I really like how it sounds and you’d be hard pressed to get a better one especially with how DG do the clean blend feature. I got one recently and while its a lot of fun on its own it’s killer with an octave!
  3. Just had a very pleasant conversation via email with Joe at designacable and bought one of his right angled xlr-1/4” cables for my pedal board needs. Helpful and interested Joe went off and did some deep digging in relation to a query I had about one of his products and was checking manuals of the gear I mentioned to check compatibility and making sure I was getting the product I needed. I had gone off and did the same thing once I had a break at work but it’s testament to the guy that he took it upon himself to do the leg work. Cable is due this week and I look forward to rigging things up. It’ll help keep the pedal board tidy and give me back a little bit more space on my board. https://www.designacable.com
  4. My ampless set up is: Comp>preamp DI out>Element Sounds great!
  5. Latest iteration. I’ve never been unhappy with previous builds but it’s always nice to get the grubby mitts on new stuff. This board does feel pretty tight though. I may switch the AO with a different drive but that’s more folly than not being happy. Hidden underneath are two Lightening Boy Audio LBA2020s passive transformers which are after the Simone (I think) and a thumpinator which is last in the chain going to the amp. The signal chain is… tuner>comp>Beta>Simone>LBA’s>Funkulator>AO>Fuzz>Thump The DI signal is tuner>comp>LBA’s>Beta>Simone>Element. No additional gain is in the DI chain

    Tourbox

    Top man and generous offer.
  7. It’s a killer box and I maybe mentioned already a great studio tool - home studio or pro. The way the transformer can colour a kick drum or snare or drive some overheads. I know so much can be done in the box but getting that source signal right is a nice skill to have. Im gonna pop the colour box back on my board tomorrow (gigging tonight) and hear how it’s sounds after some small board changes the other week. I already have some transformers (two in line plus one on my di out!) so I’m already getting that mojo.
  8. You know that feeling when you list pedals then take a bunch of them on your next gig and love what each one does for different songs/tones. 🫨
  9. some questions please. What’s your rig/bass (I’m not bothered about strings but if that’s integral please included info) What sound issue did you have to land on your eq settings. When you say parametric do you mean semi parametric. If you’re cutting -12 does that mean clock face -12 or minus 12dB? I normally leave the eq flat on my bass and the preamp pedal too but I think I’m doing it wrong. When you say you leave the stage and travel upwards of 100ft is that a vertical trajectory or do you walk away from the stage? Why do you commute so far from the stage and does that help you hear the sound you’ve dialled in with the mix? For context what sort of music do you play what size of venues. If I walked 100ft form the stage I’d be in a canal surrounded by youths causing annoyance and I don’t think my wireless pack is watertight. I look forward to your insight and advice for my tone.
  10. If you’re the fence these are fantastic preamps. The range you get from the drive and sense control alone are fantastic and they’re ‘notched’ pots so very easy to recall settings. The EQ is great set at noon and does the right amount of cut/boost with a nice wee gain bump too so it’s very fun to play with. I honestly don’t know why this doesn’t get as much or more kudos than the noble. Sure the noble sounds good but Simone is a far more versatile unit and the DI out is fantastic. I got compliments for a sound engineer the other week. After our second set she’s asked what I was doing with my pedals. I thought she was needing me to change something. No she told me it was the best bass sound she’d heard in that room ever- she the house engineer for that venue. Di out into element to the desk she basically said the bass needed nothing done to if at the desk. It was just “there”! I played the third set like a boss after that compliment!
  11. I used a TH preamp pedal as a drive unit and really liked it. Using the info from that post really opened up my understanding of how to set it up.
  12. Check out the first post… Yyou might have seen this before and it may apply to the amp too. Be good to hear back if it works…
  13. I’m selling a fender 800Pro head which has a massive clean power section. If you’re not too concerned about weight. (14kg) it’s got all the clean power you could want. The eq can be switched in or out and it’ll take the Monique via fx loop in. It’s class A/B I believe and has large toroidal transformers hence the weight and unrelenting power and immediacy. I’ve linked the manual below. Alternatively if you can find the Fender power amp only MB1200 they’re equally as impressive. I used one with a DB680 pre amp and was so impressed with the power section bought the two fender amps which incorporated that same power section, the 800Pro and the TB600. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/622322/Fender-800-Pro.html#product-800 Pro
  14. It’s nice when you can have an amp on stage along with iem to feel the low end and in a pinch iem only is fine but it’s nice to pop the iems out and listen to your amp trundling away behind you. That’s how I tend to run things for my two main venues.
  15. The oc10 is class. Had one in the 80’s band and it’s as good as any other oc2 clone out there. Definitely worth a punt for the price.
  16. Yeah I think it sounds class. I didn’t see any on the peach site. I’d be tempted to just nab - as I posted earlier GuitarGuitar said October for their stock and I’m just reluctant to buy without trying as the last bass I did this with was a great bass but just not a good fit for me.
  17. Sweet didn’t realise shops were getting them this early. I think what’s got my interest is that if the bridge was back in the 34” scale length position the bridge pick up would be in that p bass sweet spot or near enough to it and I think that’s what I liked about the demo I watched. Sounded great for the bridge position which isn’t normally my favourite sound on a j style set up. Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
  18. The Fender 800Pro head is a clean machine! It has no drive built in and looks like it's based on the Thunderfunk amps. While there are three bands of semi-parametric EQ this section of the amp is defeatable (although Bass and Treble remain in the circuit), it has built in compression and it's power section is massive sounding - it's more old school so the amp is about 14kg due to the toroidal transformers (I think it's Class A/B). More details here...
  19. More pictures added. I have rolls of Velcro I’ll include and the beauty of this board is the clearance so you can ‘hide’ stuff underneath. I had a thumpinator under mine with a coulle of other things I didn’t need to work about tweaking which gave me more space for a nice uncluttered board or more room for more pedals on top.
  20. I nabbed one in a trade as I was curious. It sounds like it’s not just a scoop at 800 but also a bump in the highs and lows. *Edit* The highs and lows are gain adjusted to maintain an even volume so not boosted so much as you don’t lose volume and the Q of the mid cut at 800Hz becomes narrower the more you dial the single control up. I’m guessing that’s why at lower settings (before noon) it can add to finger style and as you go higher the scoop is quite focused. I know it has the Redeemer buffer built in too. I’m not aware of how it achieves the scoop - inductor or otherwise - but there’s no volume change when engaging the pedal and it’s a sturdy wee box! I was trying it set anywhere from 1100/noon up to about 1500. It sounded great for finger styles set just below noon. Paired with a drive pedal it added another tonal colour taking an already decent low gain tone and adding an Ampeg scoop quality to it which I think sound great - really added a nice contrast to the drive pedal’s character (I was using new Beta MkV from SGFX) especially set up about noon for drive sounds and up at 1400/1500 for the one section where I bust out a little slap part in our Sweet Dreams cover. I found the Funkulator really lifted things up and made my jazz bass sound great - deep lows, crisp highs and just the right scoop, never too zingy or gackky on the high end. It’s a great pedal for only having one control and not for everyone but it’s got its own thing going on. Im a previous EWS BMC user which is another great wee eq but I don’t think it added the sweetness to the lows and highs either side of the frequency being cut the way the Funkulator does. I use iem and an on stage amp for feel and it definitely made for a nice sound to my in ears and never caused the amp to struggle. I’ll maybe not keep it forever but I’m enjoying what it brings to the board and how it adds a no brainer eq which actually works well giving me an instant A tone/B tone on my clean, finger style, on slap sounds and can enhance drive pedals to add more character/flavour. I wasn’t planning to write this much but it’s easy to overlook what on the surface seems like a very limited pedal.
