Any updates form folks who have been using this out live?
  2. Slightly changed things up as I’ve added the Pork&Pickle and Taurus Servo to my board. The Pork&Pickle is doing low gain duties as my always on drive and it’s first in line (after the tuner). I did try the Pork&Pickle after the preamp but it just sounded better before it. I’d placed a MojoMojo there recently and as good as it is the Pork & Pickle is more pleasing overall and it stacks really well with my heavier drive - they do sound glorious together! There’s very little going on settings wise but the tone control sounds great across its sweep and I’m hearing more in the midrange - maybe because it’s a bass specific pedal but it edges out the Mojo for me! After my first gig with it (I didn’t tell anyone I’d changed things up) the drummer commented that my bass was sounding great in the mix. I’ve not really tried the fuzz settings with the band but I have fuzz later in the chain. I have used it stand alone messing around at home and it’s classic muffy fuzz! Side note I’ve said this before (I’m sure) but having the Funkulator in the signal chain means I can instantly add in that classic 800hz scoop and it’s like every drive pedal takes on a second voice. It’s no different with the Pork&Pickle and it sounds great with the slight scoop and supportive lows and highs. The Funkulator is a real sleeper pedal on any board and not just for slap tones! The Taurus Servo replaces a Hyper Luminal compressor on the top row which is basically my FOH/IEM pathway (the blue box is my preamp which goes to both FOH and amp). The HL is great and BUS mode adds nice punch but I wanted to add some more character overall to the signal chain for IEM and FOH and toyed with leaving the comp as I’m routing the Pork&Pickle first in the signal chain. Hearing the Servo in this spot ticked all the boxes- some compression and the right amount of saturation in a tiny box! It adds exactly what I wanted right before the CabM+ which just sweetens things before hitting the ears and pa. I’ve the punch switch in position 1 which throws in some bump around 100Hz-300Hz and thickens things up. I did try this standalone into the amp and it’s a powerful unit with the punch in position 2 but again for my needs it sit perfectly in its new spot. At last week’s gig I could really hear the added oomph kicking on the boost side on some tunes and felt the added weight coming out the subs. No one seemed upset by the added low end but I’m always conscious of being too bass heavy in the mix and due to some timing issues everyone was late last weekend, my phone wasn't connecting to the desk for my IEM mix etc so I hope to dial in the IEM sound with levels etc. more closely this Friday - at home playing along on the IEM mix it sounds great. I think I’ll generally keep the Taurus on the ‘blue’ side (not boosted) with punch engaged in position 1 with the Pork&Pickle in low gain settings as described.
  3. I recall this demo but can’t remember if she does low gain.
  4. side note - happy to remove this post @tayste_2000 if you prefer… I think this is my old one. A fellow BC’er borrowed it and loved it. Bought his own MkV and felt mine had a broader gain sweep - basically he couldn’t get his to go as low gain as mine. Dunno what the deal was but this one certainly has a wide gain range. I keep thinking I should buy it back but recently got a Taurus Servo and a Pork&Pickle and just don’t have the space for it.

Dunlop do a mini expression pedal but I’m not sure you’d get the same sweet silver finish.

It’s all me, me, me with these guitarists😀
  7. I have the plug in version and running my pedal board into my daw then it’s hitting the 1073 preamp and it lifts the whole thing. It's a wonderful unit which I unfortunately have no practical need for but would love to hear one in the flesh.
  8. I think you may have my old MkV @tayste_2000 think I recognise the serial no. What @Osirissaid about the gain might be something you notice that it goes to a lower of setting than some later versions or it’s just got a quirk in it.

Having watched more videos I actually think this could really be a so single unit to do everything most folk would need. Fast processing, expandable DG ce tric but the NAM stuff means it’s likely to have everything most folk would need and potentially very expandable with plug in based stuff. @tayste_2000 covered it very succinctly. The same way a JHS Punchline would be ideal for a lot of people as a single giggable unit this is like the Punchline 2097!

New update to the nano cortex - 2.0 software which might draw some more bassists who just need a few essentials in a gig bag friendly package with iPad interface. Looks good.

I’d love to try one of these out and hear what it can do. Powerful processing (and I was tempted by the Kaamos recently) but would struggle to really get the most out it playing the set my pub outfit current plays. But in context… Infinity Microtubes £459 Kaamos £389 That would cover (albeit) the DG drive catalogue and one of the better sounding octave units I’ve recently heard. It’s not going to replace my pedals but if I won one I’d love to get it out for a weekends gigging and run it into two channels on the desk.
  12. Love their gear and @Quatschmacher is a gent!
  13. Running this into something like markbass tube comp or after would be cool
  14. Ooh the 0xEAE Bass Driver! Loved the demo I heard. Was tempted to seek one out. How you finding it as my thought was lower gain as a preamp rather than a full bore filth unit
  15. Add a couple of strips of Sellotape, masking tape or that wide brown paper packing tape to the base of the pedals first. You can just peel the whole thing off if need.
  16. If I hadn’t tricked out my Harley Benton jazz with a new loom and some Fender AV Pure ‘74 pick ups I may well have been in talks with you. Love the colour ( my HB is the same colour) and I know those pick up deliver. I actually was gonna set the HB up as a BEAD bass too! Great minds!
  17. I played the monster tone p pick up. Huge! How do the J’s sound?
  18. It’s funny how we all understand or think of these worlds differently as DB above says the SGFX Beta does a lovely thing in the lows and would be a good shout. I tend to think of that as oomph whereas the Boss LMB and the cheapie clone I mentioned ( and the basswitch dual band comp that I use) does add that something in the low/low mids but I consider that to be more ‘thump’ like the tight low thump of a kick drum. Both work in a mix and both might be the thing you’re after!
  19. I’ve found that my comp pedal added the thump. I’m using a Basswitch comp but the cheapie GLx Boss clone for £40 on amazon or the Boss LMB has a knack of doing something with the lows or low mids (don’t like the enhance knob) which takes a drive and can add in some really nice oomph/thump. Rodney McGee (I think) on YouTube had a video about adding comp to drive to get more out of it and while not my inspiration it’s certainly something I’ve found to be useful and doesn’t have to be an expensive addition to a board.
  20. I wonder if they’re gonna go down a more single pedal route like their Halcyon series but for other effects or try a 1073 pre pedal, an API style pre pedal? There has been a shift to those studio type unit and of course we know the cali was a studio unit. A new release form Origin is always fun day.
  21. The Simone is lovely sounding. The eq is boost/cut so you do get additional volume as you dial it up but that is no bad thing as it’s very easy to sound good with boosted settings or most settings for that matter. I had a Monique M700 for a number of years when I was doing bigger gigs and the Sensitivity control is a real key to ‘voicing’ of the amp and Simone shares this function. It just makes the unit more touch responsive and feel ‘hotter’ - I believe it’s like an impedance control so it opens up the signal coming through or some wizardry. Basically it sounds good! The Hondo Felder demo is very accurate. I often A/B Simone with other preamps etc and it always just sounds ‘better’. I have it set up so that it’s nice and straight in my board and not all wonky. Seriously tho On my board I take the DI out into the HL comp and then into the Cab M+ and the DI sound is class. The 1/4” out just runs across the signal chain to the amp and again sounds class. I use a Fender Rumble 500 210 combo and prefer the Simone into the regular input rather than the fx loop - I’ve done all that type of experimenting at home with most gear 😀
  22. Still using it as an always on pedal with some adjustments to the single knob form about 0900 as a general tone enhancer or between 1200-1500 for more slap sounding parts to enhance the jazz. Works great on my JMJ too to offer jazz bass tones if I’m using that bass all night and want a A/B options for some tonal variation. I really dig this pedal.
  23. I suppose that warrants an update pic! Still need to lock things down as I recently got the MojoMojo
  24. Yeah bought the DynIR Mesa pack. Think I had a discount code. It’s not that the Element is bad and I really dig it’s simplicity but having loaded up some of my existing IRs and then using the Mesa ones I’m super happy.
