1.
hey, it was actually me taking this photo, using Paul's phone though
Ehehehe true that, sorry Credits to you and Paul's phone then Thanks for those pics btw! It's nice to see me in 1 photo with Doug Wimbish, although I didn't really get to talk to him. Also good to see that gorgeous Pedulla bass again. Michael Pedulla is such a nice guy and that fretless was one of the best fretless basses I've ever tried. And who was that guy with the long coat and the hat on? I saw him playing a couple of times but he seemed so out of place there... Also, Alan, I was genuinely impressed by the fretless bass I tried. It was great to talk to you, and feel your passion for those instruments. Great stuff.
2. That's Paul Sips, owner of my favourite shop here in Holland, Paul's Bass Matters. I think you might have seen him taking pics with his selfie stick, he was walking around with that all day
3. I was there yesterday and had a GREAT day. Yes, there was a lot of noise but I wasn't at all bothered by it. It might be because most of it was low end, but I could actually understand the person I was talking to. I also had the feeling that, apart from the Status stand maybe, there wasn't even that much slapping going on. Best experiences: -Having a chat with Roger Sadowsky. I think he might have been the nicest guy at the show. What a great man. -Checking out the TecAmp stand. I've said my Aguilar won't leave me for the next few years, but that might be changing... -Having coffee with Paul Turner. I've had the chance of meeting him twice so far, and already he knows who I am and invited me for a cup of coffee at the Maribelle's (just opposite of the Olympia). Great guy, great bass player. What also struck me was how nice everybody was to each other. There was no feeling of rivalry, nobody was walking around with a "I can play better than you" attitude... I think that would be different at a drums or guitar show. Oh and this happened. Photo by Paul Sips (the guy with the hat). I'm on the far left.
4. I already had a great day today just strolling around London, visited Denmark Street and The Gallery for the first time. Met Justjn Huth, Darryl Anders and Steve Lawson at The Gallery, which was a pleasant surprise I also spoke to a bloke from Aberdeen who sold his '78 Precision to No.Tom guitars today, I wonder if he's on BC You can recognize me by my Mono bag tomorrow, I'll probably be carrying around my beloved bass all day. So if I understand correctly there's no time or exact meeting point?
5. Bass and clean underwear are packed, alarm set at 5 am, I'm off to London tomorrow! I've booked a day off in London to visit some of my fav spots ánd see Denmark Street for the first time I think I have some time for a cup of coffee during the day. Hit me up with a PM if anyone's interested!
6. Maybe a bit of a dumb question since I've already paid my plane ticket, but are you allowed to bring your own bass to the show?
7.
If the trains on time we`ll be getting in about 10:30ish.
I think I might be able to make that.
8.
Great idea Sylvia, me, Mick & Si are going to be coming along atogether, proba an early one and making our way to The Bass Gear Stand so that could be a good place, seeing as Molan will be there?
Good idea, what time?
9. Hah, I'll second what geoham says. I might be in the pub on Friday or Saturday night but otherwise I'd love to see some live gig.
10. I almost got my pedal board finished. The only thing is: I'm not sure in which order to put the pedals. I'm going to use these pedals: -Radial Bassbone -Planet Waves CT-04 -Electro Harmonix Small Stone -Electro Harmonix Memory Boy -BBE Opto Stomp (compressor) -Technophobia Bass Screamer (Tube Screamer-ish overdrive) I want to have the Radial at the beginning, because it serves as a switch between my bass and Moog synth. What would be the best order in which to put 'em?
11. It's based on the classic tube screamer design, but modded and tweeked to make the sound that I wanted
12. Nope, just higher pots. Don't really know why, I guess it's for foot turning reasons.
13. Update: I tested the Fulltone and was very pleasantly surprised. So I got in touch with the guy behind Technophobia effects, and he told me he could build me one for a very decent price with a few small mods I wanted. So I got that. And my word. That is a mighty cool pedal. Doesn't look like it, but trust me. It is.
14.
I think that would be a young Frank Gambale by the look of him.
It is. What a great vid this is. Jaco is pretty clear-minded it seems, he says stuff that makes amazingly good sense and his playing is pretty fine. Yes, it's a pity that Jaco died so young and that we "only" have the Weather Report, Joni albums and solo stuff (and of course the many live and rare recordings) but on the other hand, I'm afraid that if he'd been alive for another 5 or 10 years he'd have made some pretty terrible stuff, considering his mental and physical state at the time of his death.

16.
very nice indeed - that drummer is very good
The drummer is one of the best us Dutchies have Amazing player.
17. 100% sure that it's a BB414. I've owned one, and they're really good basses, especially for the price. If you want to mod it, don't think about changing the pickups. I don't know why, but on practically all models (except for some BB and RBX basses) Yamaha uses pickups that can only be replaced by Yamaha pickups, unless you're happy with exposed cavities. That also means that Yamaha can make that stuff as expensive as they'd like. I once had a TRB5II (sold it...*sob*) that needed to have its tuners replaced. I e-mailed Yamaha about what tuners to get. They told me tuners cost €45 each. Then I found out they're quite regular Gotoh GB-7s. €45 for a set.
18.
nice - but that is a lot of money for a P bass
Yes, that is a lot of money. But I own a Bebop, and that's actually quite brilliant. I've played a lot of Jazzes in my life (including Celinder, Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo and such) and the Bebops cost half as much and are (almost) as good as those more expensive brands. Knowing Sander (the luthier) he'll be sure to make the Soulmates as good as the Bebops. I'd choose a Soulmate over an equally expensive Fender AVRI any day. Congrats with your new bass TS!
19. TBH, for me it didn't really matter who'd come. It's my first LBGS, so I'm excited anyway I've booked another day in London the day before the show, so it's drooling at Denmark Street for me
20. Steve Lawson added to the lineup on Saturday: "Steve Lawson is the UK’s best known solo bass player and a man for who the term ‘experimental FX guru’ could well have been invented. A prolific recording artist, educator and columnist for Bass Guitar Magazine, Steve received great acclaim for his live show at last year’s LBGS with Lamb bassist Jon Thorne and we’re delighted to welcome him back. Catch his masterclass at 10:30am on Saturday 7 March 2015."
21. Righty, nobody guessed it. The answer was: "...and my mama keeps telling me I'm lookin' too lean" Rival Sons - Pressure & Time New one: "Here comes the boat, only half-afloat"
22. Forgot to mention: this bass has been TRADED. Few months ago. Very lovely Fender.
