1. Up next: Steven Wilson, Rico & Sticks (Dutch legendary hiphop duo), Fat Freddy's Drop and I'm going to a festival which features Queens of the Stone Age, Fink, Nick Cave, David Byrne, Anderson.Paak, MGMT, Jon Hopkins, Franz Ferdinand, Nils Frahm, Leon Bridges, Curtis Harding, The Breeders, St. Vincent... What a line-up.
2. And another LBGS regular announced: Peter Hook!
3. Massive update! I sold my Memory Boy, Opto Stomp and OC-2 because I didn't use them. Volume pedal is for sale as well but it'll stay on the board for now. The reverb is on the board with tie wraps because it has foam on the bottom, and if I remove that it's gonna leave a lot behind which makes it kinda impossible to put velcro on it. I don't have a proper solution yet. T-Rex Fuel Tank on the bottom btw.
4. Steve Lawson will be performing both days!
5. I just realised I still have to find a place to stay for a few days round that weekend. Anyone with a brilliant tip for cheap? Airbnb is doable but I stayed in a hostel at the Thames two years ago that is fully booked already which was actually cheaper than an Airbnb bed.
6. We've recorded an EP a while ago! Here's a teaser of the first material:
7. I think... -A Rickenbacker bass (maybe except for the 4005) -A Stingray. I don't like the sound, doesn't fit in any band I've ever tried one in. I still like 'em solo but every time I play one I just know it's not for me. -Any Gibson bass. Just not for me. -Heavy cabinets. I have neo cabs now and I love them. -An Ampeg rig. I've used one for recording a few years ago and that was pretty good but other than that I've never had a good experience with an Ampeg. Ok except for that other time with the vintage Fliptop and the all original '55 Precision maybe.
8. New artist announced: Mo Foster!

10. I think it is not a FujiGen but a Matsumoku bass. Could be released as Custom, Vorg, Pearl, Bird, Maya, Elk, Aria etcetera.
11. I instantaneously thought of "d'ye like dags" but that is wrong.
12. I honestly don't know those guys. Should I be embarrassed?
13. I enjoyed that album but I think their first one was way, way more interesting. With practically every track of HDWGSD I thought "I've already heard this" unfortunately. Good band though. For me, best of 2017 is probably a list... Sorry, can't help it. Thundercat - Drunk QOTSA - Villains Rico & Sticks - IZM (Dutch hiphop) Death From Above 1979 - Outrage! Is Now Steven Wilson - To The Bone And I really enjoyed the new Morbid Angel album, Kingdoms Disdained.
14. I have this at home to review for a Dutch bass magazine. Has some flaws in the details (finish etc) but otherwise a pretty decent bass...
15. It'll be a pleasure meeting you again Steve
16. I really like seeing "novice" players at the show. I think it's actually pretty annoying to see and hear fast showy players all day. I don't wanna hear a gazillion notes on a fancy bass all day. I want to hear how a bass sounds if you play bass on it.
17. That's gorgeous! Original? I'd say...late 66?
18. Last week:
19. Early bird tickets on sale, and the first artist has been announced: Guy Pratt!
20. I remember news about artists and stuff being earlier last time, but alright, I'm looking forward to it. Missed it this year but I booked my Eurostar ticket vor next March today. Gonna be there with Eich again, together with Marleaux. I think De Gier is also gonna be there again, probably with his new Lowlander model. I'm still hoping for Thomas Stenback to be there...
21.
This one moved from Hoxton Street to my place just yesterday
Quoted for new page. That is absolutely gorgeous. Amazing. I once played a '55 so I can imagine how it sounds. Fantastic.

23. There is a great video by Keith Carlock about playing shuffle, and he has a pretty decent Purdie shuffle as well as a Porcaro shuffle... https://www.youtube....h?v=ex2YG_-3Ov0 Don't know how to embed this
24. I don't bring my vintage bass to sketchy shows. But I do bring my vintage P. Don't know why.
25. Ok I have two stories: -I once switched basses with Jamiroquai's Paul Turner for a brief moment: he was doing a promo gig for Stenback Basses at Paul's Bass Matters in Nijmegen and I knew he has a white '66 Jazz (and so do I), so I brought it along. I was having a chat with Paul and the subject of that '66 Jazz came up. So he asked: "Did you bring yours?" I said "yes, did you bring yours?", which he had. So we played each other's bass and talked about the typical characteristics of that year. Later I found out his bass and mine are from the same month. It's the only story I have proof of. To the left is my bass, right is Paul's: -Marcus Miller played my Blade bass. He gave a masterclass at the conservatory where I was studying at the time. Paul Sips of Bass Matters (this is pure coincidence) came running up to me, asking "do you have your bass with you and is it a Jazz Bass?" Marcus' bass didn't make it through customs in time so he had to borrow one. I gave mine and eventually he didn't use it on stage because someone else had a Fender and he didn't know Blade so chose the Fender. I walked up to him afterwards asking about it, and if he still wanted to play it. He gave an interview to a Dutch bass magazine after the masterclass and used my bass to play all examples. And he signed it. And then I put epoxy over it very badly. But the signature is still there.
