Thanks a lot! I took the PG and neck off. Unfortunately, due to unknown causes (I suspect the bit wonky refin) the neck stamp is impossible to read. It does have the name "X. Armenta" on the neck. The pots indicate the 18th week of '71, so does the serial. So I guess it's not a '72.

Now I know that many Fender pickguards tend to shrink and not fit the bass anymore, but will this one? I believe the celluloid pickguards shrink and the plastics don't, but I'm not sure of which material this is made of. Who can shine a light on it?[/color][/size][/font][/color]

Ehehehe I know, I was surprised to I just found a couple of stickers. -One says "made in Korea" (so there's a mystery solved) -On the neckplate is "H-80" -And there is a "inspected by" sticker. I'm thinking it might be an old Harmony, I can find guitars with the same neck joint and strap button on the heel of the neck, but I can't find an H-80 bass. That was a Strat type guitar.

It's a .105, probably to big but it was the only E-string I had lying around there.

It didn't fit through the hole in the bridge... I tried to ram it through but that didn't work.

I don't think kits existed in the 70s

Some are pretty decent (SX Jazz is amazing for the price) and some are terrible. And then there's this one: I guess it's from the 70's, it's shortscale and it has a laminated body. Really, it consists of layers of wood. But what is it? Hondo? It sounds pretty good. Now I have been a pro bassist for a few years now but am only just discovering the world of recording things other than myself. I recently recorded the demo for my reggae band (check it out [url=https://soundcloud.com/user-855011445]here[/url]), and a month ago I played a theatre festival here in Holland with a friend of mine. We got quite a few requests for recording the songs that were in the show, so we did I recorded the grand piano, played and recorded all guitar and bass parts ánd almost all backings. Especially the grand piano was a big "first" for me, and I think it worked out pretty okay. "Mannen Die Drinken" features my Squier Jazzmaster and '72 Precision, and on "Oscar" I used my De Gier Bebop 5 and Squier Jazzmaster. All bass parts recorded through the DI of my Eich T-500 head.

For that price, get a Bass Station. The Minitaur sounds great but I think a huge downside is the fact that you can't see what preset you're working with. And you need a good midi keyboard to work with I have a Moog Sub Phatty which is heavier, sounds better and feels more solid than the Bass Station, but it's a lot more expensive as well

Wow, that looks amazing! Funny to see that shrunken pickguard at the lower horn. My '66 Jazz has exactly the same piece broken off.

I used to have five but I have owned four for the last few years and I only miss some 70's kinda Jazz. Still. Not too much to complain about.
