1.
The Aggrolites. Thank me later.
YES! The Aggrolites are great.
2.
Marley is widely regarded as 'white man reggae' - he was packaged and sold very much in the fashion of Rock musicians back then.
This is only partly true. Especially the early Marley stuff (and when he was still "in" the Wailers with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer) isn't like that. It's only from the solo albums (mostly from Natty Dread onwards) that a lot of "white" guys were hired to make the albums sound more rocky and fit for the American and European market. But check out the early versions of Stir it Up and One Love (which are actually more ska-oriented songs) and you'll here a lot of Skatalites in there. As a matter of fact, most of the old Wailers stuff is accompanied by the Skatalites.
3. 4. Up next on the list: D'Arcy James Argue's Secret Society - next Thursday Damian Marley - in August Trentemøller - in September Meshuggah - in November Blimey, this is actually a quite good cross section of my musical taste. Ambient, reggae, metal and jazz.
5. Aaahhh maaaaan ever since I played one at the LBGS this year I've wanted a Diva. Gerald makes such fantástic instruments...

This lot has a good chance of staying for a while. Picked up the JC-50 (from 1983) yesterday for €200
8. Maybe next year before the show
9. The stable seems to find my settee rather comfortable. They keep taking my place.

The current four horsemen:
11. It still surprises me how I get to stay out of all those pics every year. But cool pics
12. Bought this last Thursday. Surprising versatility!
13. You mean the Rikkers Treeline? Ferdinand had it with him last year as well, I remember it being light and having a very versatile sound. Really cool bass.
14. Ooohhh yes, that Remington Steele is an amazing instrument...
15.
Whew! Finally got back to Bristol last night at 22:30 after another very long day at the London Bass Guitar Show. It was great to see some bass chatters (both the lanyard wearing ones, and those that were incognito). It was amazing the positive feedback we received from pretty much everybody. Even those that thought it wasn't "their thing" still had nice things to say. For those that came and tried one of our basses - Thanks. Hope you enjoyed the show. Biggest thanks however goes to Basschatter "Romeo2" who volunteered to help me and covered the stand when I couldn't. Thanks a million dude!
I was actually really surprised by the quality of your basses! Great "ploink" sound, just as I like it in a hollowbody bass.
16. I was there yesterday and had a great day! I hung out at the Eich stand mostly and was amazed by the new amps ánd the fantastic basses Gerald Marleaux makes. I fell in love with this baby... I spoke to a few Basschatters I think, but sorry for not remembering everybody Biggest surprises for me basswise were Stonefield (weird looks but sound great!), Oliver Lang, Overwater and Ellio Martina. Especially Ellio's basses really put a huge smile on my face... If anyone has any video or photo material, I'm most curious!
17. I'm already in London, so if anyone wants a beer tomorrow night or knows a good place to have one, please let me know
18.
Been honing my slap technique in preparation for the weekend....
I tried to avoid slapping last year. I think I succeeded.

That is a pretty darn cool colour if you ask me.
20. I just saw the list of exhibitors. Found out Roger Sadowsky isn't coming (too bad, he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met), but LeFay will be there! Cool, last time I played a Remington Steele was quite a while ago and I remember them being absolutely amazing instruments. I'm gonna miss Mike Pedulla though, he brought a Pentabuzz last year that was stunning. Gonna be an interesting show anyways, some great exhibitors: Eich, LeFay, Ellio Martina, De Gier, Vanderkley, Rikkers (Dutchies yay!). AC... And quite some luthiers I've never heard of so that's gonna be interesting.
21.
I'm there on Saturday guys. Scottish guy with a beard and probably an Ashdown beanie.
I will try to find you. I'm there on Saturday as well, probably hanging out at the Eich stand a lot. I love talking to Scots. I love the accent. Hope you're a nice guy
22. Played this this afternoon. What a bass. Might come instead of a hollowbody.

Those are absolutely stunning. Sunburst will never be my fav colour but crikey, are those things pretty.
24.
Beautiful fretless basses here Here mine : 1972 Fender jazz bass with a serious Mojo. Hardly played all these 40 last years
Lovely! But, erm... lollipops? How?
25. Good tip! I might do that someday. I mostly use it at home ATM. My bass does have fret markers on the side, but only the "dotted" frets. And what EKO must have thought "well, everybody puts dots at 3, 5, 7, 9 and 12, let's do that differently. Let's put dots on 3, 5, 7, 10 and 12. That'll confuse people. Hah!". So yeah. That.
