2. Don't you mean LGBT?
3.
very nice indeed - that drummer is very good
The drummer is one of the best us Dutchies have Amazing player.
4. 100% sure that it's a BB414. I've owned one, and they're really good basses, especially for the price. If you want to mod it, don't think about changing the pickups. I don't know why, but on practically all models (except for some BB and RBX basses) Yamaha uses pickups that can only be replaced by Yamaha pickups, unless you're happy with exposed cavities. That also means that Yamaha can make that stuff as expensive as they'd like. I once had a TRB5II (sold it...*sob*) that needed to have its tuners replaced. I e-mailed Yamaha about what tuners to get. They told me tuners cost €45 each. Then I found out they're quite regular Gotoh GB-7s. €45 for a set.
5.
nice - but that is a lot of money for a P bass
Yes, that is a lot of money. But I own a Bebop, and that's actually quite brilliant. I've played a lot of Jazzes in my life (including Celinder, Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo and such) and the Bebops cost half as much and are (almost) as good as those more expensive brands. Knowing Sander (the luthier) he'll be sure to make the Soulmates as good as the Bebops. I'd choose a Soulmate over an equally expensive Fender AVRI any day. Congrats with your new bass TS!
6. TBH, for me it didn't really matter who'd come. It's my first LBGS, so I'm excited anyway I've booked another day in London the day before the show, so it's drooling at Denmark Street for me
7. Steve Lawson added to the lineup on Saturday: "Steve Lawson is the UK’s best known solo bass player and a man for who the term ‘experimental FX guru’ could well have been invented. A prolific recording artist, educator and columnist for Bass Guitar Magazine, Steve received great acclaim for his live show at last year’s LBGS with Lamb bassist Jon Thorne and we’re delighted to welcome him back. Catch his masterclass at 10:30am on Saturday 7 March 2015."
8. Righty, nobody guessed it. The answer was: "...and my mama keeps telling me I'm lookin' too lean" Rival Sons - Pressure & Time New one: "Here comes the boat, only half-afloat"
9. Forgot to mention: this bass has been TRADED. Few months ago. Very lovely Fender.
10. Hehehehehe
11. I'll give one more hint, tomorrow morning I'll check back and if no correct answer has been given I'll think of a new one The new hint: their (very awesome) bass player quit almost two years ago.
12. Cool! I'm looking forward to seeing those new Sadowsky basses. I was also pretty happy to see the Doug Wimbish announcement
13. Thanks for the replies people! I got a few helpful guys in the area with some ideas as well, and they were happy to borrow me their modded RAT, Marshall Guv'nor (also modded), Fuzzface (germanium) and Fulltone Mosfet Bass Drive. I'll be testing these. Very exciting.
14.
^ Good to know, I'm starting to despair at the lack of info on the official website. If I buy a bass there do you think I can ask to have it shipped to me so I don't have to take it on the train with me? Anyone know if that's a possibility?
I guess if you ask really nicely and pay for shipping, I don't see why they would refuse. On the other hand, if you bring a case or gigbag along to London, why not take a bass back on the train?
15. The new line to guess is: "Tooth and nail will wear any man down..."
16. A hint: think Zep but new.
17. My couch is the perfect size: Top row, left to right: De Gier Bebop 5 (2013), Fender Standard Jazz Bass fretless (2001), Fender Jazz Bass (1966), Fender Road Worn Precision Bass (2009) Bottom row, left to right: Blade B2 Tetra Bass (2001), Yamaha BB N5II (2001), Eko BA4 fretless (1987)
18. Looks like a 6-string Ken Smith KSD: And a great Little Phatty of course. Yours truly: And after a haircut:
19. I was just informed by Doug Wimbish (through Twitter, hehehehe) that he'll be there as well. As a regular guest, I guess.
20. Apart from the everlasting GAS for this, to match my '66 Jazz in the same colour: And the best fretless bass I've ever played: I'm currently heavily GASsing for a good and dirty tube amp. A Bassman, preferably.
21. It seems a hint is needed, or am I wrong?
22.
That pretty much describes everyone haha Si
Hehehehe good point. And cool that you'll be there Alan! I've never played an AC bass before.
23.
Ticket booked for Saturday. Is there any kind of BC meet up / special handshake ?
You'll recognize me by my Mono gigbag and drooling face.
24.
I'm definitely coming, because the perfectly lovely Ferdinand Rikkers says he'll pay for my ticket so I can pick up the 5 string Olive top Bodyline he's building for me! (I am literally spending time looking at pictures of the one from last year). What nice guys, eh? I like the lineup this year, actually - a lot of bassists I cut technique teeth on (Sheehan, Hamm, King). Is there any more news on that daft "pay for a seat" thing in the shows?
Cool! It's been quite a while since I've played a Rikkers, I almost forgot Ferdinand would be in London this year. Speaking of Dutch companies, I'm also very curious about the Aurora amp by Marc van der Kley. Oh and I also still have a loop pedal I borrowed from him a couple of years ago, might be bringing it to London
25. Hah, wow, no, I accidentally didn't see the last page of the thread when I went through it. Anyway, I also know TheGreek's one. It is a reggae tune and I happen to love reggae music "Mystical powers to you unfold Seek ye the half that has never been told" Steel Pulse - Chant A Psalm The one I posted above is still the new one
