1. My former John Birch EB3 type had stainless plate.... looked cool. Current G&L SB1 has the metal plate with black crinkle stuff finish. 27? yrs old, seems just fine.
2. Inspirational, am off to the shed... get some wood... to cut lolx A super bass, you should be well pleased.
3. Not wishing to waste 5 mins of my valuable time, does it contain slap bass
4. Who says 50 is old git threshold? is just start of life.... trust me
5. My telecaster was pale white, is now a nice banana custard yellow / brown. Only problem is 25 years time and plenty of sunlight UV may well work.
6. It is an excellent cab, was mine for 3+ years, have just gone to Rasta's Dubster. Can fully say 'buy it' you will not regret.
7. As many above state... Precision, lead, amp, cab. Could always try and find the Marshall 4x15 that is on the cover of 'The early years'? One came up on here a few years ago. If you are really keen Telecaster bass with the big neck humbucker. A great band to be in

Sold!

A super bass, if it goes good and well, if it does not stick with it. G&L super basses.
9. Plenty of Mwahh (by my standards) with TI flats on my fretless. YMMV
10. Had the Black Widow 15 on my Peavey bass combo fail, farty noises was correct description. Being 25+ yrs old the glue that held the cone to the frame had failed. You might get lucky and find that this is the same problem. Copydex, care, clamps and a wood batten are your friends.
11. Stunning looking bass, and with yamaha quality will be super. I really like natural basses, I also want to prevent divorce.
12.
And another thing: the OP says the pad made a large difference when playing on a concrete floor. I have no doubt he believes it did, but perhaps someone could explain to me how the airborne vibrations from the bottom of a cabinet could cause several tons of hard, poured concrete to audibly resonate.
Barefaced Dubster, 4 ohms, Peavey Tour 700 700W @ 4 ohms, large school hall, and yes the concrete floor can be made to vibrate In another context, modern concrete floors floated on insulation board will vibrate, try jumping on one, you can feel the movement. Resonance ???, maybe in a spare 5 mins I will do the maths of Chladni plates with constrained boundaries, then again red wine is calling.
13. 'String proper' around machine head has never caused any problems on my basses, is the gauge on these larger than previous etc, just thinking 'nut' problem? especially since I have struggled to sort out a Yamaha BB which turns out to be nut problem.
14. Just noticed price..... should be able to get for less times are hard
15. Had Peavey MKIII bass combo for about 25 yrs (I think), reliable 100%, heavy, I thought sound was pretty reasonable with Precision, Rickenbacker and finally G&L. Later had 300 combo.... loud and heavy. Seem very cheap for what you get. As ever try before you buy. [edit for spelling]
16. A very nice bass at the price, or near offers. Someone buy it and enjoy a quality bass. Disclaimer - wife divorces me if I buy another bass .....
17. I hope JH is in good contract. Is RIC private or shareholders, if the latter I hope they realise the sterling work the CEO is doing to build sales with the UK premier bass player forum. Ironic part: I actually liked my RIC despite the 'faults' and would have considered buying another. Just so JH knows I am in the grey age bracket with disposable income. However bullying private individuals goes against my libertarian principles, so no new RIC for me. Sale lost JH.
18. What a way to generate business, good feeling and customer care. What a pity that many bass players (on this forum) might have been selling their 'copy' basses to move on to the real thing. Oh, now they can't because the CEO of 'real thing' does not want their money. I had the real thing, for about 10 years 1980 - 1990. Have not bought another, and now, will never. Do ask me about long term build quality by the way at any time.
19. Peavey Tour into Barefaced Big One - I was more than happy. Into Barefaced Dubster is just immense, I can make concrete floor at work vibrate Sound good imo as well.
20. As with Rasta, if there is anyway it can be fitted to Warwick Corvette I am up for one. Corvette has four knobs, two vol, one blend, one tone, and dinky pots. When I am back home I will measure diameter if that helps.
21. Quite a few basses seem to use small diameter pots and in the case of my Warwick Rockbass the larger CTS pots will not fit. Choice may be a good thing here ot the option above, board only.
22. As above, still for sale?
23. If the base plate on the lightweight ones is too small, cut larger one from plywood, drill suitable holes and cable tie on if in a hurry.
24.
Whatever i can get away with, without it cutting out incessantly *grumbles*
Mine cut out, I found the problem. There is a thermal protection thermistor(I think) near the power supply. It is a disk shaped component that bridges two pcb boards and is mounted in turrets. It was not soldered in to one turret (push fit I guess). Soldered it in, no cut out problems again.
