  1. Thinking on from a previous thread about how many basses we own and what we like about them... I have one really valuable bass and I love it - everything would be sold before that bass... but I could be tempted if I was offered a blue sparkle modulus flea bass... It’s a 64 Reissue relic from the Fender Custom shop. A one off...mad neck 🤗 what would you swap your main bass for - has to be similar value, not “Ive got a squier CV but I want a Fodera Monarch”
  2. Would the taylor GS mini bass strings work if you did something like this?
  3. I’ve sent a message to @JimBobTTD who was lusting after a Gibson version or similar - I was trying to convince him that the Epiphone Lucille wasn’t £1000’s Worth of difference. Used to work for an epi/Gibson dealer and I compared the Korean and Memphis versions. Acoustic volumes aside, there was a negligible difference and the epi was £2500 cheaper at the time.
  4. just saying - this has cropped up at a mega reasonable price. it’d be mine, but a bit too much buying and not enough selling this month for me means I’ve had to get frustrated instead of buying...
  5. Balls. My absolute “i should buy one of those” guitars. got nowt to offer in trade of any cash which means I’ll have to fester in an annoyed fashion. And you’re in Bristol and want collection which eases the issue.
  6. Not many of these about - looks in good nick.
  7. My two year old says “bass song” and then does her “bass dance” very odd
  8. I seem to recall the spacing was slightly different. I’d love to be wrong
  9. 65 last week and 5 years cancer free, very cool man - I’ve known him for 30 years. black belt in judo too...😳 Dan thinks the world of him and yes, he does think he’s a surfing hero
  10. Watched a Rush documentary last night about their last tour (think it was called ‘Time Stands Still’) The overriding impression was that they’re phenomenal musicians, and I can’t wait for Geddy Lee’s bass book - he had some beautiful gear on stage, All custom colour Fenders, a Zematis, a Thunderbird and of course a Ric or 2 (a 4005 in fireglo was a pleasant surprise!)
  11. Do share, a mate of mine is flogging a trace rig to make the move and I’d love to prevent him making a collosal error. PM If you’d prefer 😉
  12. I want one of these as well as the very similar spector nsx...I will have a mullet and wear pastel Blazers with shoulder pads.
  13. Even more annoying is the fact the routing around the neck pickup is mega tidy and I could go for a clear Pickguard but it has that annoying reference cutout near the treble horn. Almost as annoying as the ‘relic’ stamp under the Pickguard on my 64 custom shop jazz, and the ‘Road/w’ stamp in the roadworn bodies. Suppose it prevents fakery.
  14. O’Neill is an odd choice, but it’s a traditional family name...Tom is a local one legged pool shark who does a tasty (and reasonably priced) body boards... Incidentally my father in law (O’Neill Clarke III) also claims he invented cropped trousers and Wet suits but wasn’t making much money until he incorporated the two inventions...😉
  15. As an aside I watched a tribute band called Bon Giovi about 18 months ago. They were really good, and definitely not £60 a ticket worse (Bon Jovi was playing locally a few months later for £75+ a ticket), so we spent £60 on a meal, kept the the other £60 and had another night out without the kids a week later. If you can do good versions of the songs and there’s a market for it, go for it. I have a mate who’s in a “Madchester” act, they cover all Manc indie stuff and then also take bookings as a Stone Roses tribute, an Oasis tribute and a Smiths tribute - they gig non stop and always play to rammed venues.
  16. Isn’t doing well interpreted Jazz ‘standards’ effectively a tribute act - a tribute to all the jazz greats? A tribute band is interpreting tunes of one set of writers/musicians rather than a mixed catalogue. That’s a covers band...😉 erm.
  17. Reasons I have quit tend to be around members I want to beat to death with their own shoes... I have generally taken the shithouse way out via group message as I don’t hold my tongue well when I’m angry. It’s usually down to laziness, wanting the world at their feet but without putting effort in. Turning up late, not helping move gear, losing gear on packing down. I don’t need to gig to pay bills so I’m probably not as patient as some might be.
  18. No he’s on his way back from Cornwall, been bodyboarding/surfing with his grandad 😉
