From my experience with semi hollow basses they’re tough going at rehearsals as they’re not as clear sounding...but at a gig, that sound is huge. I Sold a hofner because I could never hear myself clearly at rehearsals - went to see the band of the guy who bought it and it sounded collosal!

Tried an Elf and the 2x8 cab a few weeks back. Was quite pleasantly surprised with it as a set up. I’d like the idea of a 4x8 cab with maybe 2 stacked up and the head. forgive my ignorance though - does it attach to the cab somehow? I can just se a kicked cable causing an early death to such a tiny head.

Was going to suggest that - also Benedetto used to do one I think with Seymour Duncan.

Red Yamaha BB300 Japanese one. I ended up putting an ebo pickup at the neck and had it re-Sprayed in Ford RS blue. i sold it to a mate who’s a guitar tutor and he uses it for recording and teaching... (here’s a picture off his website where it lives next to another ex of mine - a limited edition Epiphone acoustic which I never should’ve sold...)

Did that to a lovely vantage acoustic once while I was a bit worse for wear at an all day party... kept it for a couple of years and then sanded it down. At least I had the excuse of being 17/18 with a gut full of cheap cider

The Fender strings didn’t come (a “stock error” amazingly...) Luckily a mate was on hand and got me some d’addario 40-100 from Dawsons where I worked years ago. light night and day compared to the Rotos, which are pissing me off; they feel stiff, rough and just don’t suit me at all. Anyhow, Pickguards are in the post. Can’t wait. Have also got a chrome neck pickup cover on the way. Set the action today and it’s great, missed that Miller-esque tone...it actually sounds more like a MM Jazz than I remember these doing. Will be keeping this one. For now 😏
