1. Sounds ideal for stoner rock. I like this more
2. I don't think anyone need post any more here. It's all been said, and Al can now jump out to keep looking for his brother in Vietnam
3. Typical, the first Flickr link I hit and I got gaf's nipples!
4. Yeah, you big jessy, you Any risk with the back is a serious one. I'm built like proverbial sh*tehouse, played rugby for years and hit the gym regularly... And slipped a disc doing something totally f***ing innocuous, after not heeding the warning signs. Damage to the back is often permanent and certainly painful. If it's not comfortable, don't do if - and power to you
5. I don't know why people think you can't show off in rock - what else is there to do? I said to Nige I was tempted to post that Wooten was bollocks... Because, breaking the orthodoxy and being entirely subjective a moment, you wouldn't bang him on in the car We do have a lot of hero worship - because chaps like Wooten have some tremendous skill, and a real affinity with their instruments. And, let's face it, we're the geekier end of the bass playing spectrum - we live in the detail and lap it up. It shouldn't blind us to the fact that our musical tastes are more personal. There need be no worship at the altar of orthodoxy. If you're making good music with eighth notes, power to you!
6. Brilliant news
7. What, you don't got girlfriends?
8. It's a free sex competition. You just have to go and f*** yourself. :-(
9. It's an abrasive car polish, Jazz - you should have similar. But that abrasive action, and the fact you can colour match, makes it's wondrous for removing scractches... and not just from cars
10. Following on from Nige, is the real problem with modern bass players not the fact that we're discussing them on a bass players forum?
11.
Modern music is easily as good as what came before it. If you think otherwise then you have turned into your dad and you should pack in playing music straight away and get you pipe and slippers out.
Haha, I like this - I think we had a similar discussion, only recently, covering the merits of the band Spector. Sure, they're not everyone's cup of tea - but they get people dancing, and give people some pleasure. And surely that's what music is all about? I don't understand our over-reverance of the classic players, or the technicality - we get lost in making our value judgements across a small range of values, totally overlooked by the general public; all they care about is whether the music is good and they can enjoy it, and maybe we could learn a little bit from that, in having the best of both worlds?
12. Thanks chief. I can really recommend it. You learn a great deal as you go through it all.
13.
Think it will be once I get my hands on it - Jon's so flat out it doesn't sound like he has the time to take photo's!!
We seem to have a regular procession of BC'ers dropping by Jon's workshop - could one of them not oblige?
14.
I think it says a lot when IMO that could be the least ugly bass Warwick have ever produced!
Boom!
15.
I can't imagine many teenage girls have had posters of Victor Wooten on their bedroom walls, so I doubt Alex James gives all that much of a sh*t really.
I can't imagine them giggling over how fit Victor Wooten is, to be honest. He's unlikely to make the next issue of Heat, either.
16.
That's the most shockingly awful bass I've ever had the misfortune of looking at
Count me in for a slice of this.
17. I still owe WaveyDave a reply - but, whilst I get that sorted, here's a more general bump.
18.
No-one can tell you what it's like to play live, just as no-one can tell you what it's like to have sex!
This is brilliant, discreet! I don't remember too much of mine. I was oh so nervous; full of nerves and excitement. The whole thing flew by. Afterwards I wished we'd played more, and recognised the nerves were overdone. All that fuss! We had about 30 people, most of whom were mates. You'll do great. You'll know the stuff, and it 'll be just like a big rehearsal in front of people who want you to do well. Let us know how you get on
19. Where did we leave this one, lads? Are we having a bash? Shall we just have some drinkies?
20.
I think the OP was trying to get at the mentality of a crowd that can dance to the same 60 year old songs week in week out. I mean, it`s definitely not normal behaviour. Very conservative vibe doing covers. Can be frustrating.
Yeah, that's what I got. Guess you're going to be locked in that vibe - the songs work, people like them (you get all that ear worm thing, etc); thus, singing for your supper, you need to keep bringing them out.
21. Lovely bass.
22. You should all read the comments on that YouTube clip. The Blur faithful/stalkers got in early
