1. Always time for Slither
2. Can you edit the title to say it's sold, please chief. You get less people asking that way
3. I'm sure it only feels special because you're basically death, and inches from something akin to shellshock Joking aside, it is a very cool moment; that moment of achievement after the nerves, adrenaline and energy.
4.
Bump. Seems there are loads of geddy lee's for sale on here atm...someone swap me one!
Haha, get in the queue!
5. Mulling-it-over-bump. Some trade interest, but nothing back on the nail of what I was after yet.
6.
I once found a pristine DeArmond Starfire bass in a junk shop in York. Wish I still had it. The shop was just outsied the city wall somewhere, not sure exactly where but there is a building opposite with a large painted advert on the side for 'bile beans', whatever the devil they are. That's probably no help to the OP at all, but it just goes to show what you can stumble across if you keep your eyes peeled!
That'd be the pawn shop opposite Keystones, with the sign being on Lord Mayor's Walk. I drive past it on my way to rehearsal
7. Right, well whilst you're in there you can give me an opinion on the Epi T-bird Pro - following my "I love my Gibson but don't want to f*** it up" thread, I was looking about for one to try.
8. Turn the volume down and flatten the EQ - works a treat for me at home, when using the practice amp without the headphones. As Lozz says, the bridge pick-up would also be the way to go.
9. I'm not sure you'd tell much from those pics! Go and have a play and come tell us
10. All bar a couple of items have come from this forum - it's great, and I would certainly have more confidence on here than on Ebay.
11.
If you just fancy a chat with a fellow basschatter, drop by Edit: Whilst my sentiment is genuine, I'm not in on Friday so won't be around to say hello :s
This means that, unbeknownst to the two of us, we have inadvertently met at some point! It's a small world, and all that. I only knew Gear4Music was out of town via a mate; never tried it offline. Spied Nearly Dan on the Duchess list - gutted, as am making my way to Southampton that night
12. Mormusic on Walmgate - nice chaps, I was busy getting lashed at the York Press Business Awards... good business, and looks to have a good few guitars in the windows. Banks is on Lendal, next to where Jamie Oliver is opening his new restaurant. They won't have more from than a dozen basses in - mainly Ibanez, Fender and Epiphone. Gear4Music are just out of town; Red Cow Music are in the centre, on Goodramgate. Harrogate has a few down the road, RockSteady, etc. I'll even let you buy me a pint
13. That's great news, chief. Can you please edit the topic to state that in title, to avoid people asking in future?
14.
Not quite achieved it, but got a Tokai Hardpuncher with P/J configuration, in white, so very nearly there.
Yeah, not the only one with a Duff signature on the wish list. I've got a couple of BC Richs and the Charvel with the same rough configuration, so I don't feel I'm missing out too much.
15. I'd like to add another Jazz - anything thereafter will just be for shits-and-giggles. I think my new 400W Hartke head will see out the gigging season, and I won't need anything nicer for a while. Could it be that 2012 wil be a quiet year?!?! I hope not
16. The top Google entry is an old Ebay listing for a P bass with the same headline description.
17. I think, as above, it's like all mass-produced instruments - you'll find some good ones, and you'll find some bad ones. I just think, for sub-£300 second hand, you won't feel as aggrieved at finding a bad one as you would for £600+ on a USA model. Try before you buy being the correct policy, I feel. Not tried a modern player, but I like what they're doing. Very interested in the Telecaster, if anyone has had a go.
18. Great news chief, well done
19.
Octave down & a fuzz. Wall crumbling stuff
This is what I use! I like the OBD3 for the overdrive - very cheap and simple, and would be good if you want more attack in the sound; but I think, as others have said, a lot will come from the ability of amp and cabs to carry that sound.
20. Try Dawk Sound - he's a TB user, and has worked on Joey's basses for some years. Link to his site: www.dawksound.com/ Check the forum for the odd gem, it's an interesting read...
21. Oops, should have mentioned that - still, a good opportunity to know more about BC Richs
22. Bump for the edits.
23. You should be able to attach thumbnails to your posts - click 'more reply options' and then look for 'Attach Files' at the bottom
24.
Sorry mate, friend's after a Grabber instead! My mistake, good luck and have a bump! Truckstop
Get him told, there's not a huge world of difference
