  1. Fabulous, as ever! I think the FX4 is my favourite, so far, but I do like the finish on this one.
  2. Just to be different, 1 or 4 for me.
  3. Holy smoke! Lovely. Just lovely. Well done @Chopthebass. That's fine work. How does the headphone amp work - pre or post the pre-amp? I mucked around with trying to do that on a build when at school, but my ambition was way beyond my ability... 🙄 😀
  4. Likewise - big fan of their recorded output (mostly), love the Fearless Flyers and Cory Wong. However there's just something about the MSG concert that just leaves me cold. Falls in the trying too hard/overly self-indulgent category, rather than nailing it for the song as they do on the albums.
  5. Set of the Vintage 4s ordered! Only ever used Roto flats up to now, so it'll be interesting to see how they compare.
  6. Very nice offer - thanks. 👍 Am I right in thinking that the flatwounds are only available as 4-string sets? Not 5's?
  7. Holy necro-thread revival! Just thought I would flag up here, for the Jellyfish lovers among us, that 3 out of 4 of the Split Milk era version of the band are back together, as The Lickerish Quartet! Roger Manning, Tim Smith & Eric Dover combine for the first time in 15 years! First release out in mid May. https://thelickerishquartet.com/ Very excited.
  8. @yorks5stringer - while at uni, I really wanted to get in to speaker design and applied to AE, and others, for placements but never heard anything back.
  9. Andy - if you are using two different joining materials on either side of the maple veneer, is there not a risk of it warping? ie: the wood glue contracting on one side, while the epoxy stays ridged? Love the idea of a demarcation line on the neck. 👍
  10. 01 Ever played a gig sitting down? Several times, mostly mandolin but a couple of jazz gigs with my Dad. 02 Ever gigged on a different instrument? See above! Mandolin - some just on mandolin, some trying to juggle mandolin and bass. Oh, and couple (bagging) on guitar... 03 Ever shared a stage with a musical hero of yours? Lots as crew, not really whilst on bass. Once, on guitar for a 2 minute piece. 04 Any fan ever had a tatoo of your band's logo? Not that I know of. 05 Ever signed an autograph in a dressing room? Yes! Very cringe worthy. 06 Ever cried on stage? Err, don't think so. 07 Ever worn a hat on stage? Frequently, although I have come to the conclusion that, despite loving the concept of hats, a baseball cap is about the only thing I can carry off without looking like a womble. 08 Ever gigged with a band you hadn't met before the gig? Yes. Messy. 09 Ever been in a relationship with a fellow band member? Nope. 10 Ever played in different bands on the same day? Yes! At the same gig. Last ever gig of one band, which was supporting my then main outfit. 11 Ever had anything thrown at you while playing? Don't think so. 12 Ever crashed on the way to the gig? Rear end shunt at a roundabout. 13 Ever left a band over the choice of set list? Nope. 14 Ever slept in the venue despite it not being a hotel? Yes! We picked up a support slot at the end of a tour. I was shattered, and slept through headliner. 15 Ever been supported by a band clearly better than you? Not that I'm aware of, but would you admit it? Have definitely been in support acts who have over-shadowed the main act. 16 Ever played a gig suffering from some debilitating medical condition? Just hangovers. 17 Ever been in a band where the guitarist was your favourite bandmate? A couple of times. Both would be in my ideal band. 18 Ever played in the grounds of a stately home? Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire. Does the ramparts of Stirling Castle count? 19 Ever injured yourself on stage? Knackered my back shifting a monitor whilst sound-checking! Still suffering from that 25 years later... Never lift and twist! 20 Ever been told that your bass isn't loud enough? Only by my lovely wife!
  11. Some very nice features on that. Nice. 👍
  12. Oh great! GAS for something I didn't really need! 😁 Bought. At that price, it's always worth having as a back up to the PJB Bass Buddy. Thanks for the heads-up. 👍
  13. 👍 Ahhh! Soz, I thought you were referring to the link between the headphone amp and your cans. I'm sure I have seen somewhere a headphone amp with a Bluetooth connection, but for the life of me can't remember where. I thought it might have been the new Phil Jones Big Head 2, but apparently not.
  14. A great idea, but alas the time lag associated with Bluetooth is sure that it's nigh on impossible use as a technology for playing live. Try playing along to something when there's 0.4 of a second delay between your fingers and your ears... Given that a lot of phones no longer come with a headphone jack, it's a bit of a bugger. Just had to fork out £8 on a USB C - jack converter.
  15. That's looking mighty fine! Well done. 👍
  16. That is pretty! Albeit a bit deadly... 🙄
  17. Doesn't this just mean that you need more night vision gear? 👀
  18. A hint of Kubicki about your designs, but that's no bad thing in my opinion! I do like these. 👍
  19. First action of any insurer is to try and work out how they can avoid paying out. So many businesses are going to go to the wall as a result of the current situation. Livelihoods (and quite probably lives) lost as consequence of the virus and the government's poor handling of it.
  20. Yes! So glad it's not just me who thinks that. I tried out a number of ACGs, all of which had flat boards, but just couldn't get to grips with it, despite them being fantastic basses. I finally managed to try one with a 20" radius - not much of a curve, but enough, and I loved it. And then bought it. 😁
  21. No. No. No, no, no. No, it's still no. Just... ... ... no.
