I have a gig...well, I think I do...tomorrow night. It's the first time my new covers band play live. It's only a small support slot, we're first on. Initially there were four bands including us. Then at the beginning of the week the headline act pulled out. Then at about 4 this afternoon the next band pulled out. It's put the whole night in question. We were just there as an add on really, initially we weren't even supposed to be playing. But all that aside it's the sort of don't give a crap about others some people have that gripes. Anyone else been stuffed by other bands?
Although Giblin is Scottish..... so does that count.....
Depends if he has ketchup or brown sauce on his chips...maybe.

Thank you guys. Some options for me Our drummer is a really decent bloke, just not the best at sorting stuff out like this
-
DIY or are there places that will print one for you, or is a 'sticker' better. I have not the faintest idea...but have been asked to sort it out for my band. BTW I'm not the drummer
Am I the only one who prefers the look of a metal grill to a piece of cloth?
Depends what mood I'm in...actually no. Despite I love the silver grill of my Ampeg cab, on the BF's I actually prefer the metal grill.

Thanks everyone.

Thomann are more expensive even before shipping unfortunately.

Dolphin Music, DV247 or Soundslive. Dolphin have what I would like in stock (apparently) I'd have to wait a week for the other two. (GAK haven't got it and is £50 more expensive). How have people's experiences of Dolphin been recently. I must admit they did get back to me with my questions via email quickly. Any thoughts cheers

I'd go with earthenware rather than plastic, they look nicer.

I replaced the white pg on my black precision with a tort one, looks bloody awesome now. However, as Lazybones has pointed out, you've got to make sure the screws are all in the right place and the pickup cut outs are correct. My old Squier has what seem to be over sized pickups, so a standard pickup cut out just doesn't fit. I had to modify the pg even then, after finding one that should have fitted. Also, get a sheet of adhesive copper foil and stick it on the back of the pg, I ripped the aluminium foil off the back of the one I bought...it didn't cover both pickup and control cavities.
+1. Just fit a mint pickguard and you're done!
....and it'll look a lot like your bass

Never, mainly because I know those who've asked haven't got the cash to either repair or replace it if they bust it...and as I've had gear broken in the past and not even had a sorry let alone had it fixed or replaced I'm a very untrusting soul now.
-
Given my circumstances and my playing I don't think I'd feel comfortable paying any more than £500ish for a bass. But that's just me, all the gear in my sig cost barely £700

I've owned both Macs and Windows machines. Our first windows 'machine' had XP on it. Within 20mins of us having it, it had a virus. The only web pages we'd been on were MS to register the machine and Norton to update definitions. It was a continual PITA. Lasted 2 years at most before a hardware failure. Next machine, iMac. It still works and has for the last 5 years without doing any 'maintenance' to it. It's only problem is the screen has become slightly faulty and to replace it costs too much. We now have a Laptop running Windows8. Within 2 months of having it, it crashed completely and had to be completely wiped and reset. Not that it actually had anything on it, we put no files on it, didn't set up email on it, just used for web browsing. It's still probably the most obstructive machine I've ever had the misfortune to own. Hence we now also have a MacMIni. Cost not much more than the laptop, including getting a screen for it, I loathe having to use the laptop even more now. Just my experience, but I would never opt for a windows machine if I have the choice.
Thanks, guys. Marvin, does yours have a set of stacked knobs? I'd guess maybe the 3EQ could be recognised by its lacking that, but I don't know or remember anything about it. btw, what's with the filthy avatar? You should be ashamed of yourself, you male shauvinist pig, ruining a perfect ass like that with an apple!! And have you seen the labia on that thing?
The avatar is ironic...or something :\ My SR300 has the stacked knobs. So yes, it would be straight forward to distinguish the old and new models...the new ones have one more knob (seems so wrong to be saying knob a lot with an avatar like mine). There might be a few of the older models knocking around. With regard the new models, I particularly like the SR370 in Sapphire Blue, looks great. The 370's are about £30 more than the 300's in the UK, I don't know what the price difference in Norway would be.

I'd imagine the older model with the style sweep have all been sold. It may be worth contacting a shop or web retailer before ordering. I know what you mean about the inaccuracies of websites etc. I must be honest, I don't really trust many shops and retailers. My SR300 is over 4 years old and has the style sweep, you might be lucky and maybe pick up a 2nd hand one?
it's spelt: *Wooten* ...must be a different bloke then innit...
Sign writer typo, just can't get the staff. Bridges: Schaller vs Gotoh vs Baddass. GO!
Marvin replied to ChickenKiev's topic in Repairs and Technical
I like slot loading bridges. As for the choice of Schaller, Gotoh and Badass...it would be a Gotoh for me purely on how they look. They just look well made and like proper engineering. I really don't like the look of those big Badass bridges on Fender style basses, it looks out of balance. -
My Squier isn't particularly well balanced. The neck doesn't have an awful lot of dive but because the body is quite light it could be better. As such there's not a lot that can be done to remedy it. The Ibanez is spot on for balance.
What's the problem..? Surely one has only to declare one's overseas purchases to Customs, no..? Anything else would be dishonest, I should think.
Perhaps this is where Howard Marks got it all wrong...

Are basses selling better on eBay rather than here because......
Marvin replied to bagsieblue's topic in General Discussion
Sold a bit a gear lately on Gumtree and the free ad pages on Facebook. Got decent prices and because they're usually local it's quite easy to arrange pick up or delivery in person. I don't think my gear would have sold on here...
