Iron ether Joy

I've just picked up an Oxide fuzz . Let us know how you get on with the Filter , cause I recon they'd be a good match . BTW how much were they each , and how much more were the charges ? Paul .
  2. I can see where he's coming from ...... to a degree . He's stated in another interview that Jaco's impact was so great on fretless , that every other player was deemed to be compared to him , whether by design or not . I quite like Jeff . I don't always agree with the stuff he sprouts out , nor do I go a lot on his music , but he says it as he sees it . In a similar forthright way that Anthony Jackson sometimes does , or even Scott Thunes . He admitted Jack Bruce as being a non Jaco clone , with his 'fart' bass sound . As others have said - Mick Karn was unique . I can hear an influence with John Giblin , but I'd say he's a far more 'rounded player' that Jaco ever was . Like any chosen instument , sometimes the differences can be subtle from player to player , and with fretless the sound IS quite unique . I think he's playing Devils advocate here , as he always does . Probably best not to listen to the guy . Which is shame , because what he has to impart to Bass players , always seems to be drowned out by this sort on nonsense .
  3. Bought an Iron Ether Oxide off Naruki , and it was really easy . Prompt delivery , no messing about , great conversation and an alround good Basschatter .
  4. I sold Dan an old , but new Trace Series 6 footswitch . Good guy to deal with , good contact and straight up .
  5. You do realise that you've stumbled upon a Bass site , don't you ?
  6.
yes, that's pretty much correct. how much it helps though depends on if the amp already has a built in high-pass filter (many do) and the quality of that filter, so it may make a bigger difference in some situations than others. still, it wouldn't ever hurt, i shouldn't think.
Maybe that's why I can't hear or see any difference with mine in or out . Perhaps I need to look into it a bit more , but I've A/B'd it and I don't hear a lot . I've swung the E string right down to a low G (2 tones below a low , and the volume of the note was the same . I thought it was suppose to cut off anything below 30hz , but it sounds exactly the same . I play an Eden amp , so perhaps it's got a cut off in it already , I don't know . I've tried the test as per the clip with the speaker movement , and it's all the same to my eyes . Maybe it's subtle , and I'm not seeing or hearing it , or perhaps I'm just expecting too much from a pedal that is possibly mild in nature . Anyone here A/B'd to see a difference .
  7.
I'm selling my Iron Ether Oxide Fuzz Pedal. It's in excellent condition (as new if you would) except for the velcro at the bottom. Velcro is clean though. Also there are some "marks" on the pedal which I assume is just part of the etching decoration since I don't remember any events that could have caused it. Sorry I don't have any pictures but I have decent feedback, just look em up. Anyways, reason for selling is that I'm raising money for a Little Mark Rocker 500. I love this pedal to bits but I need a new amp even more. Also, I'm moving to America soon anyways and I can always easily buy it again minus VAT haha. I'll take Paypal, as gift if possible. If not, its cool. Just a note, the pedal's not with me since I'm currently traveling. My friend has access to my room and he'll ship it when I give the green light. I can get in touch with him within minutes so I can get the pedal shipped off the same day First Class if I get the Payment before 2pm.
1st dibs on this if it hasn't gone yet please . I'll PM you when I get home tonight with details . Cheers , Paul . PM sent
  8.
Yes it is. Have you had the benefits of playing there then? Luke
Ages ago Luke , and I can't remember much about it . I seem to think it was a bit dead . Why is it really dodgy . We sometimes branch out a bit and play newer places (for us) , and it's handy to know the boozers to steer clear of . I can't be doing with the scrapping at gigs anymore , I'm far more into good crowds that are into their music , and have a healthy ratio of fit birds
  9. 50th Birthday party last night . In her house would you believe . She's seen us loads of times , and it was a crowd of lots of familiar faces . Got told to turn down when we were on the break . We weren't loud (obviously governed by the drum volume) , and it pissed us off a bit . I mean if you're going to get a rock band to gig in your house , you've got to accept a volume infinately louder than your Hifi . Also was asked to turn off our lights as it was too bright . Honestly some people . We did the gig , got paid , it was local , chatted to an old school friend who's blossomed into a stunning woman , so not all bad I suppose .
  10.
the gig was at the Pickerel in Slowmarket. Now I know why his bandmates jumped ship last minute! Never play there people! Luke
Is that the pub accross from the railway line ?
  11.
I'm still carrying mine in the box.
Me too
  12. That double pickup Modulus Flea bass at the Gallery (been around here a few times over the years) . Ended up buying an all white SEI Jazz5 that I never used . Always think back to that .
  13.
When I posted the opening post, I never had any idea it would turn into a trousers thread.
Classic
  14. Just got in from Hunstanton . First time there , and quite good . Threw in some older ones , and it's shocking how quickly you forget them , not totally , but definately a few passing notes going on .
  15. Fancy a swap for a boxed Korg G5 ?
  16.
Oh wait I've changed my mind..
There's a surprise

  18.
Good memory (and detective work!)
Are herein lies the rub . The bass we've all heard on the hits isn't the one for sale at all .
  19. Well I know it sounds weird , but I just can't hear myself . Not a problem normally , but on a rally , it's just so bloody loud . I bought a 6x10 primarily for the really loud gigs , and sometimes it's a stuggle at times . You'll unlikely to have a 5 way monitor mix , so it's 2 way , and do it as best fits (probably for the drummer and singer) . We've got a loud drummer with a DW kit that I swear is twice as loud as his old Pearl , and I'm between him and guitarist with a half stack blasting away . Just need more headroom on the amp , so an upgrade , or a power amp run off the head for the few loud gigs will probably do . Paul .
  20. Local bike rally , 6th or 7th year in a row we've done it . Big PA run by my mate . Good support band . 3 of the guys do a prog offshoot with another couple , so they went on 2nd , with us other 2 coming up for the last hour and a half . Bloody loud as usual . Bit a farting noise when I detuned to a low C for one song , unsure if its the speaker or the amp . I suspect my Eden WT400 probably reached it's limit , as at times all 3 clip lights were on . I'm probably gonna sell some gear and either buy a CA-9 or a DB750 , that should sort it . Money I havn't got though - ho hum . Bloody cold in the marquee , as the first 5 or 6 songs I couldn't get the fingers to do what they should . Corker of a gig though - gotta love those rallys .
  21.
How does a graphite neck stop a tuner being knocked?
It doesn't , that's not what I said . It gets knocked in the bag , as I said , but in a case , the tuning of a graphite neck I've found to be more stable that a wooden neck . This thread has weaved slightly , and I've gone with it . Protection in a gigbag is never as good as a case , and this can put the tuning out - this is what I meant . The only way around this , is to go headless .
  22.
I once worked a gig with a piano player who only played in C but changed the tuning on his keyboard for every song. Needless to say, I didn't play with him twice.
I played in a function band once with one of those . He wasn't from out King Lynn way by any chance ? On the tuning issue - get a graphite necked bass . Mine only goes out slightly if it gets a knock in the gigbag . But I swear , when it was in a case , it was never ever out of tune - not once . Hot stage lights , cold outside barn dance , who cares - still in tune . Guy Pratt mentions in his book , that his Status was in his mum's barn or something , for like years . Took it out , and it was still in tune .
