Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. Requested by the forthcoming bride and groom for a wedding we are booked to play (hopefully, fingers crossed) in August.

We have cancelled our two upcoming gigs in March. Will probably end up cancelling April as well I think. Hard decision as we all know getting gigs in the first place is difficult.

I agree. My experience with them was a few years ago now. My combo blew a power supply a few weeks after the warranty period but they sent me a new one without any quibble.

Yes I can picture that. We are 4 piece now so was easier earlier this year.

I remember seeing a great, but not very well known band in the seventies called Glenco. Found out a few years later that a few of them became The Blockheads including Norman.

I saw WA way back several times in the 70s and later when Martin was playing with them. I have seen Martin's band a couple of times recently. He was probably the player that influenced me to start playing bass originally. I chatted with him at one of the bass guitar shows and he was interested that I played a Fender Jazz with a pick. He said he played that on the first WA album but it sounded very "clicky" apparently.

I saw SAHB back in the seventies, great band as others have said. Sadly never got to see Rory live.

Blind Eye is in the old book I found last night, but no bass is shown. Martin Turner (WA original bassist) is still going strong and performing old WA songs as" Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash". Met him a few years back at the bass guitar show and also saw his band not that long ago. Andy Powell, one of the former twin lead guitarists is still performing as Wishbone Ash.

I've got an old (sometime in the 70's) Wishbone Ash song/chord book at home somewhere and I'm pretty sure Blind Eye is in it, not sure if the bass line is included though. Will check later and post again if it seems useful.

[/quote] Yes, they were very entertaining, gig was at Loughborough Art College as I was living in Nottingham at the time. Never got to see them again though unfortunately. Seen Wishbone Ash several times over the years and quite a few bands at Nottingham Uni which was just about within walking distance home !

First gig was Humble Pie (about 1971) with Steve Marriott, Greg Ridley on bass, Jerry Shirley (drums) and I think Clem Clemson on guitar. I remember my ears "whistling" for a couple of days afterwards!

I don't intend to buy it, just thought it looked a good deal. But as you say could be too good. Let's hope not and turns into a good bargain for someone!

I saw this last night and got in touch with the seller but he's reluctant to ship as he has no suitable packaging etc otherwise I would have bought. I'm too far away to collect unfortunately

I play a MIM Fender Jazz (96/97 I believe) and have done so for about 5 years. I often receive complimenatary comments about the sound I get from it (not for my playing inabilities though!). Last week a friend of our drummers brought along a MIA Fender Precision (about 2 years old I think) to one of our gigs and asked if I would mind playing it for a couple of numbers. He hadn't played it outside of the bedroom as far as I know. I was keen to give it a go as I keep thinking about upgrading to a MIA Jazz. The Precision was set up with through the body stringing as well which was something I was particuarly keen to try out. Well, I was quite disappointed really. It didn't seem as punchy as my Jazz and apart from the obvious slight difference in neck width I was hard pushed to find any real difference. The tuners seemed a little more tighther but nothing else really seemed to justify the additional price tag. Alan.

Always classed myself as almost a Northerner (from Nottingham originally) and now living further south but never heard the fishy version before in respect of a bass guitar. Often have a smile at graASS and grARSE though and path and parth !
