  1. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next episode.
  2. My MIM Jazz, 90s I think, has a smooth semi-gloss finish and the profile is thinner than my USA one.
  3. Alvin Lee of Ten Years After was from my home town Nottingham (although I have lived away longer than I lived there now).
  4. Yes, I noticed that myself.
  5. Really enjoyed the Alan Hull documentary. Saw Lindisfarne in the late 70s/early 80s and Rod Clements more recently when a friend of mine was the support act.
  6. I have always plugged direct into the amp. Our old guitarist, now retired, a geat player, had numerous pedals of various sorts. He had countless problems with connections between them though. I remember one gig where all worked well during the first set but he couldn't get any working during the second set so plugged straight into his amp. I didn't like to tell him it didn't sound any different to me!
  7. I had a power supply go on an Ashdown combo a few years ago now. It was a couple of weeks or so out of warranty so a local repair man checked it out for me. I contacted Ashdown and they sent me a foc psu no quibble. The didn't want the dead psu back either. Excellent service in my book.
  8. Thanks. I am not aware of any mods but will check the wiring and compare both.
  9. I have a USA and a Mexican Fender Jazz bass. I have rarely played the Mex one over the last few years. I have noticed recently though the different response between the two when adjusting the vol pots. The USA version affects the volume when either pot is only slightly turned up; on the Mex bass I have to turn them until they are on almost full. Can anyone advise if this is likely to be pots or pick-up problems. Thanks.
  10. I had an email exchange with them a couple of months back about a bass they were advertising. I didn't buy it in the end but was very impressed with their responses to me. Emailed me back at 11pm! Would certainly contact them again if I see something suitable.
  11. I've got both a MIM and USA Jazz bass. While both necks are the same width, the MIM one has a good bit slimmer profile and not as chunky as the USA one.
  12. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers concert on tonight at 9pm. It was also on a couple of months or so, well worth a watch though. (Sky Arts).
  13. We rehearsed Kashmir by Led Zep for a while but never got to play it live before one of our then guitarists retired to live in France.
  14. Played our first gig for 18 months yesterday. It was only an hours set at a local Cricket Cub Fun Day but went reasonably well. A good gentle introduction to gigging proper again.
  15. I saw the original WA line up several times over the years, initially when Ted Turner was still with them. Met Martin Turner a couple of times more recently and had a good chat with him about bass guitars etc. Top man in my book.
  16. It's one we play and always goes down well.
  17. Yes very sad. Always came across as a nice bloke in the few documentary films I've seen also.
  18. We use Parcels to Go occasionally at work and sometimes not all of the carriers return with a quote. I believe it depends on their available slots so Interparcel may be the same.
  19. I'm not generally good enough to learn and play exact copies (depending on complexities of the song) but try and work an adapted version. This seems to work in my covers band.
  20. I think it may be only certain couriers that are allowed to ship or maybe suppliers need a special licence. I know my work are not allowed to ship aerosols.
  21. That is good news. One of the very few channels I missed when we cancelled Sky some time ago.
  22. As mentioned above DHL charges rise steeply for parcels over 1 metre in length. Have a look at Parcels to go you may find a good option there.
