1. Yeh, give the drummer "the eyes" to check he knows to play a bar extra. If you know each others playing well enough, you usually know what the last bar of the solo sounds like anyway. So we usually let the guitarist go as long as their ego needs. We recognise the last phrase, and then back in together. No problem
2. That is incredible news. Happy for you
3. I do feel very lucky! I understand that this wont be to everyones taste, and i'm fine with that. The whole point was to end up with a truly unique bass, that has the exact specifications i wanted. Fair play to Andy, he has put up with my suggestions, and guided me in the directions he felt would be best suited, and i couldn't be happier with how it looks. His skill is obvious for everyone to see. Im very excited to see how it plays I'll definitely sort a video out. Just need to decide how best to go about it to get a true sound of the bass
4. Beaten to it!!
5. Not saying it's similar, as i havent played the 2 you mentioned, but the EBS TD650 runs down to 2 Ohms. Great amp
6. I'd certainly be more likely to take part, as the time of recording a full composition is what stops me usually. I always listen to the entries in the monthly composition challenge though
7. Love it. The contrast between the yellow and the dark fretboard look amazing
8. I'm 31. I think
9. That looks like an interesting bass!! Would love to have a blast on it
10.
This is miles better than actually doing work whilst I'm at work, which is the alternative...
We work in similar ways
11. It's been a relatively short wait for a custom instrument, but you're right, can't wait to get my hands on it now!
12.
I have been through several micro amps over as many years. Got tired lifting heavy gear and my aching limbs were happy to sacrifice grid iron heft in favour of portability, small foot print and sheer convenience of small, light gear. Well over a year ago I pulled the trigger on the cheap as chips Kustom KXB500 class D bass amp (377 Euro). I intended to have it as a back up, but to my surprise the little thing kicked every micro I had tried right out of the ball park. It knocks out a thick, syrupy, fat tone with ease. Real heft in every note. My amp GAS in non existence since I started using this thing (other than wanting to purchase a second one). However sadly it is now out of production and therefore unavailable. Guess Kustom did not know what they had on their hands with this baby.
I have one too. I'm no longer looking for any new amp, but if anyone has a Kustom KXB, i'll take it off their hands
13.
Who else wants to know what bass it is ?
meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
14. I loved them. Found them vey useful
15. Not long now......
16.
Although the concept of tasting drinks as a pulling technique is baffling me
Yup, that's me and you in agreement then The whole situation is pretty bizarre though eh
17. Best bass sound i've ever had was a SWR Marcus Miller Pre amp, into a Peavey IPR1600. Played through Bergantino HD210s. It was brilliant. Ridiculously versatile too. It was too much for what i wanted really. Weight wise and option wise ( i prefer a relatively simple plug n play type set up), but for sheer quality of tone, and tone options, i havent played through anything better. Dont have much experience on other pre amps or power amps, but this particular set up sounded amazing
18.
The OP is amazing, I can't see anyone topping that.
Agreed, but i'm following this just in case someone does. The masking tape badge to "attract" the girls is genius
19. Great cabs. Im sure you'll love them. Look great in Blue
20. Amazing project! Wish i had the skills to be able to do something similar. Just goes to show all the stuff that would otherwise be thrown out, can be put to something useful
21.
Strung up with flats it's great for that dead, thumpy sound, but I still miss having the sheen of rounds for pick playing and slapping ..
Havent you just done that???
22.
practice won't increase your stamina.
Depends what kind of stamina you mean IMO. If it's the kind of stamina where you can play 16th notes, but after a period of time, your stamina goes and the technique falls apart, then practice will definitely help. I used to find it hard to play the octave patterns in ABBAs Gimme Gimme Gimme. Few sessions practicing, and that was remedied. If you mean the stamina to just be able to gig for 2.5 hours, then yeh, gigging is definitely your best bet.
23. Confirmed..,.. Wet pants
24. I'd agree with the bass collection opinion. Only played one, so i dont have vast experience, but the one i played was great! £150!?!? Cant go wrong! If you dont mind a bit of weight, which im guessing you wont as its for home recording, i'd go for this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/275470-ibanez-mc924-musician-bass-bargain-at-only-l35000/ I have no affiliation with the owner.
25. Isnt the point in changing from pick to fingers that you actually want a different sound? Otherwise there isnt much point in changing anyway is there? I play mostly with fingers, and play one or two with a pick. Only changes i make is i add a liittle more treble when i play with a pick. But that's only because i take treble off to get "my sound" when usually playing with my fingers.
