I've had 2 Jo5s and a 55-01 - I'd buy the Jo.

Thanks for that but that looks like a 10 hole jobby wheras mine has 13 holes - I expect they won't align properly.

I'm quite interested in one of these as a back up for my 'on its way' Ashdown ABM RC 500 - are the English MAGs good or bad? I know there's been issues with MAG stuff and their reputation is a bit iffy but I love the sound of them. My tutor uses a MAG 300 head and nothing else - it sounds fantastic and makes me wonder why you pay double for fancy features you really don't need.

Nice one Dave - so pleased for you. Where and when's the gig? If I can make it, I will.

I'm thinking about buying a combo for rehearsals / small gigs and have been looking at this Ampeg B200R jobby. I was wondering if anyone has one and what their views are of it. It looks the biz and most of the reviews I've read were glowing but I'd be curious what anyone thinks about them.

I quite like it but think it'd look better in a bright colour like toxic waste green or syphilis yellow ...and yeh...where's my royalties, I've been known as Big Al since my first nappy change
niceguyhomer - what difference did you find between the 2EQ and 3EQ?
I found the 2EQers warmer, fatter and more 'natural' sounding. Certainly easier to get a sound I liked anyway. -
I liked your amp, mainly for its 2 ohm option, but TBH I can't fault my embarrasingly light Shuttle. However, I REALLY covert your Neox. I'd even NOT make you come to Harrogate to deliver it!!!! Keep with being strange my friend ...it suits you
There's quite a queue for that cab - I think you're in 4th place. -
May well end up doing that spree but the last two I got from Jeannie's ended up being quite expensive in the end.

I've had a few and my experience is very mixed. Great to to play and solid as a rock - I don't like the sound of 3EQers but loved the sound of the two 2EQers I had - both were everything I was looking for in a 'Ray. -
Why did you sell the GBE750 Al? It seemed so right for you, especially with the neox (which I'd be interested in, if you decide to sell BTW). Was it weight/size?
Coupla reasons really - I joined a blues band a few weeks ago and they rehearse in a studio loft. This amp weighs 33lbs and by the time I get to the loft I'm gasping for air - when you're my age, that ain't funny and it doesn't impress the opposite sex. Second reason is - I went to see another blues band and the bassist was using an Ashdown Mag head into an Ashdown 4x10 and it sounded beautiful - perfect for blues. I want to hang on to my Spectors and I'm hoping a warmer, woolier amp will help get that fat bluesy sound I'm looking for. They sound very hi-fi through the GB rig. I've hopefully bought a suitable amp and will have enough money over to buy a decent combo - something I've wanted for a while really. Probably makes no sense to anyone else but then, I am strange. -
No one told me but here it is...

Superb Genz Benz GBE 750 in excellent condition. Comes with very useful footswitch in a Proel rack case. Tube / Mosfet channels can be blended, goes down to 2 ohms and is very versatile. Beautifully made piece of kit - knob twiddling is a joy and there's lots of bright blue LEDs to look at. It's a lot simpler to use than it looks - even I know my way around it. Looking for £600. Will deliver within a reasonable distance or meet up. Prefer not to ship. May trade for a decent reliable combo - Ampeg / GK / SWR etc or maybe a LMII with cash my way. From Genz' website FEATURES • Active/Passive Input Stage • Signal Mute Switch • Tuner Out (also a rear panel Tuner Out) • Independent FET and 12AX7 TUBE Channels • Active 5 band EQ Section on each Channel with Two Shelving and Three PeakingNetworks • Channel Select and Channel Mix Switches (Footswitchable) • Channel O/L LED’s • Signal Shape Circuitry w/L.F. Extend, Mid Scoop, H.F. Attack all Adjustable (Min. – Max.) and Footswitchable • Unique “Soft Limit” Circuit • Comprehensive Amplifier Status LED’s • Master Volume • Heavy-duty Toggle On/Off Switch • Sleek, Ergonomic Amp Handles • Sturdy 2 Space Metal Chassis • Solid Aluminum Knurled Knobs on Premium Detent Pots • Variable Speed Fan Cooling (thermally controlled) • Heavy-duty 5 Button Footswitch (included) • Weight: 33 lbs • Dimensions: 19”W x 15”D x 3.5”H (click for larger image) REAR PANEL FEATURES: • Tuner Out (Parallel with Front Panel Tuner Out) • Comprehensive Direct Output Section w/ Pre/Post Switch, Attenuation Sw, Ground Lift Sw • Three Effects Loops — Independent Channel and Global Loops • Slave Out Jack • Dual Speakon® Output Connectors • POWERFLEX Impedance Selector Switch • Dual Voltage Switch • Heavy-duty Toroidal Transformer Pics

SOLD - Feeler: Ashdown ABM 500 RC EVO II amp
niceguyhomer replied to largo's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Out of nothing more than curiosity I've just bought myself an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro from this very forum. Not even a GAS attack !!!! Time will tell if it's the right decision but in the meantime I need to think about getting back some of the cash that I paid for it. So, up for sale is my trusty Ashdown. It's a few years old, never been a problem and is the the UK version. Always flightcased so in VGC. I don't have pics as it's packed with all the other gear in the trailer, but if it's essential then I can get some this weekend. Oh yeah price. I reckon £300 + £10 P&P via DHL is a fair price. Any offers?
If there's no issues with it, I'll have that. -

Thanks a lot for the kind comments fellas. Just ordered a brushed gold pickguard for that P from WD - website says it'll be 1-2 weeks and the email confirmation I got says it'll be four weeks but could be longer. I could swim to the US and pick one up quicker.
