1. I think I need to take some happy pills before going on - I look miserable . S'funny because I do smile / laugh a lot during gigs but never seem to smile when a camera's on me for some reason.
2. I know....what am I like? I always look bloody miserable when I'm playing
3. I've only had this about a month and it really is a beauty but I have to sell it to finance another bass. It plays and sounds absolutely superbly and I can't see a single mark on it. It has gold reverse tuners on it. Would like to get as close as poss to £300 which is what I paid for it. Will deliver within reasonable distance / meet halfway. Comes in a Fender gig bag. More pics on request.
4. I really really don't want to sell this but there's something else coming my way and I need the cash. This is a stunning bass in excellent nick - just two small dings - one on the headstock and one on the back of the neck (can't feel it when playing). Just been restrung with Status Hotwires and it sounds amazing. Nice low action, very light and an absolute joy to play. Superb low B thanks to 35" scale. Looking for as close to £400 as possible. Will deliver within a reasonable distance or meet halfway. More pics on request.
5. It is Steve - I soooooooooooooooo want this bass. Come on Mr Fingerz send me a PM and tell me everything is going to be fine.....
6. You missed a good night Russ - place was buzzin'. Mick the singer came 'round to see me yesterday and we were talking about it all. We both think that the door's not firmly closed and who knows - Mick's 40 in November and we'll definitely be doing that. We still enjoy playing and haven't fallen out - I think we just need a rest from the pub circuit which has gone south around here.
7. I only wear 'em because I hate bright lights and spend all night squinting if I go naked
8. The final gig with Nice Guy Eddie last night - been with 'em for 3 years and it's been a blast. Fantastic night with a packed local pub full of wonderful people including my good friend Peter (GreeneKing) who came down from Kendal. Here's a coupla pics - my word I look miserable...
9. ...and there's more
10. Right...some piccies With Nick - the original bassist doing a few
11. Pics up as soon as I can see again.
12. Eloquent as always Jon - your post should be a sticky for the benefit of all the spotty wannabes.
13. My new blues band has huge potential - they're all well established musos on the blues circuit but fancied doing something a bit different so they formed 'Dr. Truth' with yours truly on get this...a Precision bass ah..my nipples explode with delight - been waiting years to use a P. There's gonna be a few gigs in Europe (blues fests) and I believe we're doing the British Stage at Colne Blues Festival in August (Fri night). If the demo is ok, I'll post a sample or two if someone'll tell me how to do it.
14.
Sorry to hear that, Al. It's a grim feeling that I've had hanging about for a while, too. Thankfully, it's been resolved. There's nowt worse than the impending demise of a band that you love being a part of. Can I ask why you're all throwing the towel in?
It's a bit of a story - we've had trouble keeping drummers and have had a temp for a while now. He's given notice and so being at the proverbial crossroads, a debate sprung up over which direction to turn if we could be arsed finding a new drummer. The guitarist and me wanted to move away from soul but the singer didn't so things got a bit sour. It all went quiet so I took the step of putting some ads on muso boards just in case and nobody seemed that interested so I found another band(s). I told NGE that if they wanted to carry on I'd leave the new band but the singer doesn't want to carry on so that's it then. I think the underlying reason is we've done too many gigs in the last 2 years and we're all a bit jaded. Driving 40 miles to play to 6 people in the middle of winter ain't much fun I guess.
15. 9.30 kick off and bloody hell Pete - I can't believe you're a Manc? This changes our relationship
16. Thanks Jon - wish I could send you a limo
17. I'm hopeful mate...I think Nick'll be there
18. Very nice Paul - how's it sound?
19. My new band's getting together to record a demo today but I can't really get worked up about it as I would normally. It's kinda overshadowed by the stark fact that tonight's the final public gig of Nice Guy Eddie - the soul band I've been in for nearly 4 years. It's at our home pub and it'll be a blast but I can't help thinking what a waste of a bloody good unit as anyone who's seen us in the past will testify. Let's hope Liverpool thrash United 8-0 later today otherwise I'll be slashing my wrists
20. I'm pretty sure I'll be there Stuart - Ill buy you a sherbet
21. How's that new bass - you likey?
22. That happened to me Peter with an ageing Brooklyn Gear Strap - fixed it with a cable tie. Hope that bass is ok.
