1. Ta EntropicLqd. I've just had a look and yes there it is plain as day on the pups ...HZ doh! Loving that Black Shuker Jazz - I had the pleasure of playing one last week when I picked my P up from Giblett in Brum - fantasic Jazz with Delano pups, it sounded fantastic and gave me a severe GAS attack.
2. I'm going to change the pups in mine soon - possibly to EMGs - which models are yours and how are they in a Shuker bass? Jon's recommended a 40CS and a 40P5 for mine. That's assuming they fit the holes left by the departing Nordstrand DCs.
I lurk a lot. Don't really have much to say for myself. Here's some pics (just taken). Hopefully they've come out OK. The front of the bass is Bimblebox and the back is Coolibah. Jon didn't have enough Bimblebox to do both the front and the back and the Coolibah was the closest match to it we could find. The fretboard is Snakewood. 3. I've played this and really really liked it - stunning colour and Chris is a proper bloke to deal with too.
4. I've got that Clarky - I love his playing and like you say, not one of the most technical players but what he does is sooooooooo right
5. No it's not that one...I've just had a closer look, mine's a CD-BT1MKII. Should've looked properly in the first place. Anyway, thanks for your help, I'm sorted now.
6. Mine's a MKII- you need a mini jack to USB lead. There's no USB connection on the player.
7. Splendids! If I find a suitable cable I'll try that. Ta muchly.
8. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum - feel free to move it Mr. Moderator. I've got an audition tomorrow and have been sent 4 MP3 files of songs to learn. I can hook up my MP3 player to my Tascam Bass Trainer and play along to the songs but I can't take the bass out of the recording, which is really helpful. Does anybody know if I can convert the MP3 files to a format that'll let me edit the bass in the Tascam ?
9. Flea who? Everybody knows Suzy Quattro was the best bass player ever
10. Separates are best IMHO and the volume you need depends on what sort of music you're playing. Others will say different but for most pubs etc I'd be looking for 300watts minimum.
11. Never would have thought I'd be contributing to a Shuker thread but here goes..this used to be Old Git's...there's lovely
12. A superb ready made rig for someone Pedro
13. I'll try and get down - used to love playing there in spite of the miserable tight sod that runs it.
14. Pity it's not a five - that's a nice bass
15. + 1 on the Lakland vote. £ for £, the Darryl Jones bass is one of the best basses you can buy IMHO.
16. An open air gig on the seafront at Cleveleys yesterday - a charity gig for the local hospice. I was conned in to it by other member of the band who said I'd be up in front of 300 birds - should've known they meant seagulls Gig was ok, went down well but it was spoilt by my getting sunburnt (it was dull when I left home) and seeing a little boy get run over while we were playing - thankfully he was ok but it still sent shivers down my spine.
17. It's just a convenience thing Jon but TBH, it wasn't planned. I went to buy a LM Tube head and there were none in stock so I just tried the combo cos it was there and it sounded great in the shop so being an impulsive compulsive I bought it. I must be honest and say that at first, I thought I'd made a big mistake but I've done two gigs with it now - yesterday was an outdoor one on the seafront at Cleveleys and it's done a sterling job both times. It is a compromise but I value my back more than my sound.
18.
Al, You can borrow my Sandberg 5 if you want. It ain't doing much at the moment.
You might not get it back Stuart
19. Ah so...my bid would be way off the mark then..
20. I have to iron my shirts over a wok these days If my belly gets any bigger, I'm gonna need arm transplants to reach the strings.
21. PM sent
22. I'll be there Dave - probably playing with OV8. I'll keep an eye open for you.
23. Tell me more cariad
24. Yeh - thanks fellas - I have absolute confidence. As I said I have no regrets buying this bass - all the boxes are ticked and I'm sure it's only going to take a slight tweak to make it perfect. Since we got together I've started being a bit bolder with the EQ and have got it sounding a lot better playing along to cds in my Tascam and that is a real indication of how it'll sound with the band. I'm going to have a dabble at the weekend with the mid trim pot and maybe raise the pups a midge's ar5e on the B string side and see what that does. I just need to find a decent back up bass so I can leave it with Jon for a while and we happy.
