Superb bass in immaculate condition. Has the Vintage Tone Control / comes in a nice Sadowsky lightweight case in top condition etc etc. Extremely powerful, versatile bass thanks to the excellent Sadowsky preamp. Sounds great passive too - especially on the P pup soloed. I thought I'd get along fine with four strings but sadly I can't and I'm much more comfortable on 5. I've seen a nice 5er I'd like so this is up for a quick cash sale at £900 firm. Would also consider trades for something Jazz like with 5 strings - I particularly like Sadowskys, Laklands and Sandbergs.. Because I've had some p!%% taking offers for trades on other basses in the past, I'd just like to politely point out that this bass would cost you about £1600 new so I'd be looking for something of similar value otherwise it's cash either way. I'm not posting this so you'll have to come and get it or meet me halfway. Pics Photobucket is down at the minute so for pics in the meantime, have a look here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=50008

What is it with trying to find a bass that works for me ?
niceguyhomer replied to markdavid's topic in Bass Guitars
I wish I was the same Chris. I never had GAS when I was a guitarist - only ever used a Strat or a Tele if I was feeling saucy. I just don't seem to be able to settle on any one bass for more than a few months and then I need a change. My love of music and playing live is unaffected by my constant equipment changes. -

Thanks for that caruso. I am interested in music and have been since I started gigging in 1967. -

I keep chopping and changing because I get bored with basses and need something new to maintain my interest. -
Very nice indeed - my favourite colour. I have the same bass in black / black / maple, they're superb basses.

That's gorgeous Pedro -
Is it possible to have too many basses?
niceguyhomer replied to GreeneKing's topic in General Discussion
If my basses outnumber my testicles, I think I have too many. -
Thanks for all the advice guys - it's given me plenty to think about for sure. I'm going to have a good ponder while I'm away. If I do decide to go down this route, I'll have about a grand to spend and it needs to be fairly simple to use. If I have to spend weeks / months learning how to use anything, it won't happen - I'm too impatient. See what happens but thanks again

I'm pretty disenchanted with bands and at the moment and I'm weighing up my options for the best way forward to pursue / sustain my musical interests. I still love playing my bass but don't know if I can be arsed with playing live any more. Anyway, I've just been to a friend's house and he demo'd his Apple Mac (white laptop) with the recordings he'd done using Logic and Garage Band and I was really really impressed. It really got my juices flowing again - cos, as well as playing bass, I'm a competent guitarist and with a decent drum machine I could have some real fun making my own music. I don't know if I will go down this route but if I do, what's the options? Mac / Logic / Garage Band or is there an alternative I should consider? I should say that it needs to be fairly straightforward to use - I'm thick and lazy
While I'm not flogging my bass gear, I've realised that the only way I'm getting out there in the near future is to work on the singing and get out there with a guitar and a tiny amp. Seasick Steve, only rougher and more basic.
Need a bassist?
I was going to at the Shepherds Bush Empire but I found the £45 ticket price a bit galling, so I didn't bother. Glad you enjoyed it though!
Yikes - that's a bit steep. I only paid £27.

Went to see Dweezil Zappa last night at Bridgewater Hall and I was completely knocked out. I realise Zappa isn't everyone's cup of tea but he was one of mine and I've always regretted never seeing him live. Last night made up for it and it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Bassist Pete Griffin was superb - he was using a Lakland Joe Osborne through an Ashdown rig and had a really nice sound. The overall standard of musicianship was breathtaking. Anyone else been to see him on this tour?

Enjoy myself?

Thanks for all the words of encouragement fellas, perhaps I do just need a break from bands. I won't rush into selling my gear but if I'm not going to be gigging in the future, there's no sense having two heads and a 4x10. Maybe two weeks in Crete'll cheer me up.

I'm giving serious thought to bringing my long and undistinguished gigging career to an end. Since Nice Guy Eddie split earlier this year I've not had much luck bandwise. First I joined a bullshit band in Manchester who had a 'world-famous in Oldham' front man who made it to the latter stages of X-Factor and thought (pub) musicians should be able to play any song at the drop of a hat live without rehearsing them first ...er nice easy songs like Roseanna (Toto) New York Minute (Don Henley) - he also goes out solo with backing tapes. After a couple of train wrecks, I walked away from that nonsense. I then heard about a newly formed blues band playing original stuff and I thought ..hello. Went to Manchester again and did the audition and got the job. That was in March. Since then we've got together once ...yes once to record a demo, which sounds very good. I should say that a lot of the problems we have getting together are for valid reasons. Anyway, we have our 'launch gig' on August 6th followed shortly after by spot on the British Stage at Colne Blues festival ' followed by a big gig in Chester. We currently have 5 songs and ideas for about 15 more - remember this is an originals band. So...I'm off to Crete for 2 weeks next Tuesday (I told them in March) - another band member booked his holidays last week- for the two weeks after I come back, which gives a short window of about 10 days to write / learn / rehearse enough songs to do 90 minutes. We have two chances - Bob Hope and no hope. I'm so p155ed off with it all, I'm thinking of hanging up my boots and giving up gigging for good. I'll still keep a bass to play along to my Tascam but I'm gonna give it some thought while I'm away. Right now it's not looking favourable and I wouldn't besurprised if my gear's up for sale in 3 weeks time. Sorry for the miserable post, I had to sound off.

Noisy hissing Ashdown ABM 500 RC EVO III Head. Is this normal?
niceguyhomer replied to Linus27's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have the older version - no hiss at all. Give them a call at Ashdown - they're really helpful. -

Played at the Llangollen Blues Festival - fantastic gig, awful drive (90 mins). Sadowsky / Ashdown / Epifani well and truly kicked ass. Gig wasn't spoilt by the three knobhead scousers who kicked off when shown the door - makes me ashamed to come from the same place.
