Yeh it was Chris Bates Matt - staggeringly good service methinks.

I'm really loving my Ashdown RC EVO II and thought I might get it serviced when I go away on holiday in a few weeks time. I went on their site 15 minutes ago and typed out my message enquiring about service costs etc and then clicked 'send'. Less than 1 minute later I got a reply from a guy called Chris - at 7pm . I knew their service was reputed to be good but that's a bit amazing in this day and age. Just had to share that witcha.

Nice one Andy - I think someone on here is looking for a gold pickguard - have a look at the wanted section.
Well I've done it, correction me mothers done it! She signed the 12 month interest free option at Guitar Guitar allowing me to own a Fender 50s classic precision bass! Have to say, I'm well pleased with it, looks great, superb tone and the neck...the neck...high gloss chunky fabulous piece of maple! well chuffed I am! Downer: its made in Mexico but after a couple f hours with it, I'm not too fussed compares well with my old American pbass! Will change the anodised gold pickguard to a 3 ply black one and will definitely change the bridge to a fender deluxe/high mass deluxe. andy link: http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars...=08103114345638

On that premise, why not just buy yourself some Warmoth parts, a Sadowsky pre and pickups and get a local luthier to do the build and finishing work. I reckon you could save at least £1000 over a Sadowsky.
Cos I have the money to buy a proper one?

It doesn't make any difference whether they're 'parts basses' - I think the end justifies the means. Your car is made up of parts from different manufacturers

I'm with you on the look of the pups TBH Jon, but they play and sound great so I kinda turn a blind eye to the looks. The MM pup really does make it an extremely versatile bass.

Something's come up for sale and I want it but I'd need to sell my two Aggies first. They're in excellent condition and sound marvellous as you'd expect. Pics up soon. I want as close to £450 as I can get for them. May deliver / if not meet halfway. If the thing I want sells, then they'll be withdrawn so no dilly-dallying ya hear?

There's some lovely light in my dining room this morning so I whipped out my camera and took a few pics. Shortly after, I dropped by fooking camera and broke it so I feel an insurance claim coming on. Anyway, I'm always wary about posting pics of my new basses cos I usually end up selling them shortly after, but I'm fairly confident that these two will be around for a while. I've been rehearsing / recording all weekend with my new band and they were both superb. I used the Sandberg on Saturday and it's a bit more modern sounding than the Sadowsky - very tight and controlled - slightly compressed sounding I would say. I love the neck on it too - there's no dead spots and it's very even across the fretboard. On Sunday, I used the Sadowsky and although the Sandberg is a classy bass, the Sadowsky is better in every department. The Sadowsky doesn't sound as sweet as the Sandberg soloed, but when the band started playing it sounded absolutely sublime. I never thought I'd say this but I don't miss the B string at all and I'm loving the freedom (?) of 4 strings. The jury is out on the mint green pickguard BTW - I feel a torty replacement is on the cards - it's my birthday soon.

I'd be on a plane to NYC right now Marcus.

I prefer the feel and warmth of nickels - I think they're supposed to be easier on your frets too. DR Sunbeams for me every time.
