  1. It's a lovely sounding thing too, I'm very much from a 'passive Fender' school of thought, hence the Alder body......although I confess to going Ash neck purely for the grain haha. Everything set flat, it's round and deep with some growl, all strings very even tonally (which is difficult with a C string usually). Very happy so far. Si
  2. Some of you may have followed the diary in the build forum, but for those of you who don't frequent those parts, here's my new ACG Krell E-Type 6: These are Alan's photos, but it arrived yesterday. Spec: Alder body Indian Cedar top 33" scale 24 frets Ash neck Macassar Ebony fingerboard (with a very slight radius) ACG RFB dual coils East Uni-Pre 4K I believe it's also one of the first with Alan's new headpiece, which really tidies up the string ends on headless basses! I've already recorded the theme for the new Basschat Podcast with it, loving the sound, so make sure you download that and have a listen when it's available in the next few days. Si
  3. ACG arrived.....just saying 😉

  4. I’ll have to let @skelf answer that one Si
  5. Anyone have a Bartolini Precision pickup I could borrow for a few days?

  6. Well if you’re desperate for something, you can start with ‘Dyad’: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyad_(music) Si
  7. It’s typically called a double-stop That said.....there’s potentially more to it than that : https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/318155-how-many-notes-does-it-take-to-make-a-chord/ Si
  8. That’s my vid :)......I should have put it in the opening post huh lol. Cheers Si
  9. Hi all, I don't suppose anyone has a Bartolini Precision pickup that's hanging around in a drawer that I could borrow for a little bit? They have have smaller dimensions that 'Standard' precision pickup casings, and just want to see that I'm happy with how it fits (looks) in my bass with no scratch plate (therefore a naked rout). I'd then be looking to order directly from Bart most likely, do you don't need to be selling it, just not using it Si
  10. I can’t recommend La Bella flats highly enough (obviously the shortscale ones). Just put a set on my Mustang bass and it’s singing! Si
  11. Although they don’t have the Höfner flats in stock at the moment, Bass Direct have the other specialist sets in at £38 inc shipping. So not quite £30, but certainly not £50, guessing they could get them in pretty quick, and no big waits in customs lol. I went over to La Bella strings a few months ago and haven’t looked back, fantastic Flats, really cool Nylons, and even Nickels (RX’s) that have turned me back onto Roundwounds! Those Flats will be coooool on the Hofner! Si
  12. Well yeah I bet, sorry you had some problems. Take a day to decompress (no pun intended), and crack on having some fun Si
  13. That’s the first time i’ve ever heard of that happening! As you can imagine, there’s not a great deal going on with the software, it contains the driver and ability to route signal in different ways through the Clarett, it’s not asking for any in-depth system or boot permissions etc. Now’s it’s all reinstalled etc, everything working ok? Si
  14. Ai, but you’re talking abou selling bothof them Keep the ‘73, sell the Roadworn, and find a way to make up the rest for a Jaydee. I’d put money on you selling the Jaydee before the Wal or ‘73 later down the line Si
  15. You’re considering selling a Precision to buy a Jaydee....for recording purposes?! ......said no-one ever lol Want the perfect recording bass, keep a Precision, if you want something flashy for a jam night, then maybe the Jaydee is perfect, but that’s about it lol. Si
  16. You’d bet correctly! Si
  17. I don’t have it yet, but I can’t help posting the finished pictures!! 😍 Should have it next week I think! Specs you can’t see, dual coils with a East Uni-Pre. Si
  18. It’s a date! Si
  19. Dammit I missed that yesterday haha Si
  20. Oooooo: Si
  21. Sonic Red? Blasphemy!! Next they’ll be releasing a Fiesta Blue Great looking range though in all seriousness! Si
  22. Yup, regular Jubilee Gold, the finish is superb!! Si
  23. Yeah they’re really great for the price! I have a fretless Jive, and it’s excellent! Si
  24. Really? It's hard to tell if you like an instrument with 14 days of playing and two rehearsals? I agree that home playing isn't the same as gigging, but then surely is the onus not on the purchaser to buy a bass at a time when they have gigs/rehearsals booked so that they can make an informed decision? Si
  25. Have a LOT of time for her. Whether you like the music/performances or not (I think she’s great), she’s a flawless singer! Si
