  1. I also forgot to add, I agree with audio only. Much easier and good for background/car listening! Si
  2. My personal take on the format is thus: A few, perhaps 4, different members each episode, who engage in conversation. Perhaps about some popular threads, or their story getting into bass, their gear etc. It obviously evolves from those basic points as it’s a conversation. I feel that format, perhaps over one hour, would be infinitely more interesting than just one person talking for x amount of time without answer. Si
  3. Ultimately, I think that in any given situation, you should buy the best quality interface that your budget allows. With regards to low latency and tracking with plugins, it’s worth having a think about what that really means. It’s pretty rare for me to record bass with any plugins on it for example. Some singers might want a small amount of Reverb, but that’s not restrictive with a USB interface unless you’re running a very slow computer. The only situation where you need a hefty system and perhaps a Thunderbolt interface is if you want to record guitar using amp/pedal modeling plugins, and perhaps multiple instances of that, that can suck up power! Bear in mind that it’s not particularly usual to pile on plugins during the tracking phase, that all happens in the mixing stage, and at that point you can dime your buffer size. That allows more CPU to be used for plugins, you’re not fussed about latency at that point because you’re done with tracking. So have a think about what you’re doing, and what you want to do Si
  4. General condition? Original case included? Plays nice? Pics? Si
  5. First rule of marketing, let the happy customers talk about how good the products are Si
  6. Apologies, i am fully in Clarett USB mode lol (as they’re the latest products). You’re all quite right though, if comparing Clarett Thunderbolt to Scarlett, the other difference is a significant improvement in latency. The Scarlett and Clarett USB latency is still very low, but the Thunderbolt Claretts allow a lot more latency ‘headroom’ for those large, processing heavy sessions. Si // Focusrite
  7. Hi Daniel, Hope you don’t mind me chipping in on an official capacity, am only doing so as it’s both our products your’re comparing. Essentially what you’re paying for with Clarett is upgraded preamps, and the ‘Air’ feature, which hardware models the sound of our ISA preamps, really great for vocals (as well as other things of course, whatever your ear likes). So whilst the Scarletts sound great, the Claretts are a step up. If you’re running a very recent Mac (USB-C), and you don’t really need the simultaneous recording ability of the 4Pre just yet, you might also consider the 2Pre USB*, which you can bus power with your setup, no need for a power supply :). The 2Pre USB also comes with ADAT in, so you could increase channel count with something like a Clarett OctoPre at a later date if needed. Obviously in the Scarlett range, the 18i8 is the smallest unit to include ADAT in, so this is also a nice addition with the 2Pre. Any questions, please let me know. Obviously fully encourage everyone else to chip in too! I know there are some Scarlett and Clarett fans on here Cheers Si // Focusrite Media Relations *You can’t bus power the 2Pre Thunderbolt
  8. Purchased this 2006 CIJ Fiesta Red Mustang a couple of weeks ago, very cool! Especially with some La Bella flats fitted! Si
  9. Mid 2018 family pic, pre ACG, which should arrive in a month or so I think. L-R Bass Collection Jive fretless, 2006 CIJ Mustang, 1971 Precision, Lakland US custom 44-94, Lakland Skyline 55-01. Si
  10. I’d sell the Warwick lol But if that’s a ‘keeper’, and you love Stingrays, sell the Jazz. Always have a Precision 😉 Si
  11. With regards to bolt on, it's simply because you suggested that a well thought out design needs to have the neck flowing into the body (such as neck-through or set-neck), I don't think anyone has described a Fender neck join as 'flowing into the body', yet it will have been thought about an incredible amount from an engineering point of view (as Leo was). So ultimately we have a difference between what you deem to be aesthetically pleasing, and whether something has been thought about. With regards to the Fodera, everything would have been thought about to the Nth degree. Having owned one previously (although not this model), I found the layout to be ergonomic and intuitive, and can only image that the above is also true. I actually don't see an issue with it, but I see patterns in groups of things, as opposed to needing an overall uniformed pattern. For example I don't care how the switches are distanced from the EQ, but as long as the EQ is intuitively placed and spaced, then the switches are well placed/spaced in relation to each other etc. Again, it's simply a difference between what is aesthetically pleasing to you vs whether it's been thought out.....the two aren't mutually exclusive. The headstock shape vs the body shape, that's just the Fodera aesthetic, I don't think it looks weird or unbalanced, but you don't like it. Does that mean 'it hasn't been thought about' or is 'random', no, of course not . Ultimately, I just think you've been a bit blunt with your point, but it does ultimately boil down to it being totally subjective, same as everything on here.....which is fine, but unfair to accuse any builder of this pedigree of simply 'not thinking about it'. Si
  12. You're suggesting that any custom bass that is bolt-on, knobs in a straight line and has a string tree has't been thought through?? lol Si
  13. Very cool, late 70’s? How do you find the Mikey Way sig? I considered one before I got the CIJ, simple because it has a soapbar and I could easily drop in the soapbar version of Jake Serek’s B90 pickup! Si
  14. SOLD These: http://www.labella.com/products/760fgs-deep-talkin-bass-gold-flats-standard-45-105/ 760FGS - 45-65-85-105 Swapped these off my Lakland 44-94, so they're cut for 4-in-a-line headstocks (Fender etc). Sound really good, I only swapped them off as I prefer roundwounds (shock horror) on this bass, and with flats already on my Precision & Mustang, made sense to move these on. These have been gigged a couple of times, but as with all flats, they simply bed in nicely and so just a good opportunity to try these at a reduced rate. These are slightly brighter than standard La Bella flats (think Chromes), with a more pronounced midrange. Plus they're gold, which is just win/win isn't it! SOLD Si
  15. “I want a Fender JMJ mustang and have to offset the cost somehow!” I lol’d....which is a sad I know! GLWTS Si
  16. Yeah, it’s a 2006 CIJ Mustang, didn’t want one of the P/Js, so waited for a Japanese one to come up! Si
  17. Did a bass cover, first time for everything. John Mayer's 'Still Feel Like Your Man' (Pino):

Good skills dude. Nailed the vibe!

  18. Yup, bought the download and it’s brilliant! Si
  19. Fantastic work!! Wish I had the space and monies for this! If I didn’t already have an old Precision, I’d be taking a look at this for sure!! GLWTS Si
  20. Cheeky interim purchase before my ACG arrives. Cheers Jonze! This is a 2006 CIJ Mustang, always fancied one, and the wife has a couple of bass gigs (she plays a Mustang guitar), so made sense! Liking the Fiesta Red more than I thought I would, but was the right price, so don’t care either way! Cleaned up the fingerboard (needed a little TLC), fitted some La Bella Mustang Flatwounds, overall a very cool bass Si
  21. Depends if you really want one or not doesn’t it.....it’s significantly cheaper than a new one! Si
  22. That's exactly how you use it, it's just a Midi controller, no onboard sounds etc. So you'd connect to your computer (where your sounds are stored) via USB, and then connect the computers output (typically via an interface) to the desk/PA etc. Si
  23. Mustang has arrived! :D

@Happy Jack she’s dead....and don’t pretend any  of us are sad about it!

  24. To be fair to him, Tom has simply put the amount of work into his basses that he deems to be necessary. Everything else, be it hype or hyperbole is other peoples doing! The man simply builds basses and has priced them at a point where he can earn a living and not kill himself doing it. Good luck to him, he's a lovely guy and very good at what he does. Think they're too expensive? Don't buy one.......if you can find one for sale Si
  25. I suppose at this point it’s worth being grateful it’s not something like cancer! Also a bit of a wake-up call not having all your eggs in one basket, ie gigging, I imagine that this problem might not have flared up so quickly if you had only been gigging 3 times a week and not 7 (or more?!). This may well be the kick you need to diversify while you heal, teaching theory, doing some writing & production etc With regards to playing, have you tried with a Pick? Or is holding it painful? Si
