It basically just sounds like Stefan Lessards SSB rendition from the Dave Matthews Central Park concert, not awful, but meh. I'm not sure what tone people are expecting him to play with, a nice fat P-bass tone isn't going to cut through in a stadium like that, it isn't a band after all. Si
Thought I'd give a quick update. Last night was the first opportunity I had to sit down with the TFR and Musket pedals I built. The Musket is the hands down winner for me. So flexible and can get SUPER aggressive. Just haven't clicked with the TFR, although I'm not convinced I haven't made a boo boo somewhere in the build! It sounds REALLY congested, although it has lots of the standard TFR cap values replaced with higher values for bass use. I think further tinkering is required so I'll add a blend and mid control while I'm at it. Maybe add switchable diode options too... Any suggestions on a decent blend circuit Si? Is a paralooper overkill?
If you don't want to go down the route of a paralooper, just take a look at the Fuzz Dog Blender kit, nice with the onboard pot. Or JMK did a nice layout if you're not fussed about onboard pot: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3414.0;attach=2704 Si
Absolutely! Suits my particular ethereal style of playing. In fact, it was a comment made by yourself a good while ago that prompted me to give them a try so thanks for that.
My pleasure! . Great board! Si

Hi all, I built a one-off Poultone Trooper clean boost into a 1590a enclosure, just to see if the PCB fit really. The Trooper is based off the Zvex Super Hard-On, but with tweaks to make it quieter, with no crackle, just nice clean boost. The pink enclosure has a tiny scuff on the left side (pictured), so cheaper price. Clean inside, premium parts. Naaaa, I'm voting for black. But then that's what I went for on my Shoreline Gold Maruszczyk, so i'm biased Si
I'll not due my sofa shot for another couple of weeks, and that's with a following wind. *drums fingers*
Argh I want the spec lol. That silver sparkle Elwood is killer, although I'd have gone gold sparkle Si
Just thought I would quickly share with you all the latest evolution of my board. Need to add a true bypass switch (for switching on multiple effects at once, namely the POG and Organizer (sic)) and replace that daft red lead. As you may have guessed, I am one of those more ambient style bassists.
Organizer with an Eterna is ultimate Si

Kinda mildly considering an Elwood 5, a super-jazz type vibe....hmmmm. No real news, just thinking out loud! Si
pre-amp is awesome. The sound variety is incredible. Passive with the front pickup sounds really growly and warm. Active with the back pickup on split coil is super jazz. Back pickup active is totally music man. Everything on = just awesome. I'll record a demo. :-)
Yes would be interested to hear it! Si
they already do a Pelham blue and Charcoal Frost... :-)
Which are cool, but aren't quite there for me to say 'must have'. Their Olympic White was spot on, but am looking forward to seeing what other custom colours they go with. How do you find the preamp? Si
-
Ah I saw Anthony Wellington post this . Very cool, I wouldn't hesitate buying another Fodera if the money was there, my MGS was wonderful. The Classic series are fantastic, and I just know they'll screw me over by releasing a Sonic Blue or Shoreline Gold colour in the future lol Si
Mine hasn't missed a beat since I got it to be honest. It came with super low action and too light of a gauge string for me but they are drops in the ocean when considering how good it sounds, feels and plays. I'd order another one in a heart beat. I've seen a Jake with T-bird pickups that looks pretty dangerous
That Jake with TBird pickups does look awesome, not quite keen on the neck, but the body is awesome! I too would order again as mine has been great out the box, this setup issue does seem to be an anomaly. Either way, it will get sorted and the stealth tank will be an awesome bass Si

I'm using Pro-Steels (medium scales), NYXLs & Chromes currently. Would like NYXLs on my Shuker, but have to wait for the high C singles to be released. I think Andrew said around July-August?! Si
NBD!!!!!! Details to follow. Something to whet you appetite. NBD thread here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/282168-nbd-maruszczyk-content/page__pid__3016426#entry3016426
Very cool bass, although if I were ordering it, I would go for 2-tone sunburst, gloss finish and 4 in a row matching headstock. Black hardware keeps in non-bling lol Si
The octave-up sound of the You're Doom only comes in once you start playing past the 12th fret and roll back your tone. It's not an octave fuzz but it hints at it sometimes.
Yes, some Fuzz pedals can be like that, based on what component values are used, it seems that this is what the Attack Goat does. Whilst I am looking for something a little more subtle than POG into distortion, probably less subtle than just a Fuzz by-product. Si
If you dnt need the sub look at the la machine aswell same thing with out the sub circuit
Ah ok, interesting, will take a look Cheers Si
-
I think I would like a Fuzz with octave up, as opposed to just the dirtiness caused by the analogue up. Will look into the You're Doom & the Hoof Reaper, although the HR is a little large. Will explore the MXR Sub-Machine a little further too. Cheers Si

They weren't part of the test, and I can't compare them to the others in the test, but I always found Rotosound flats to be way too high tension for me. The new Chromes I've fitted feel much nicer, I made a point of matching the tension (or as close as possible) to the tension of the roundwounds I use, very handy, knowing the overall tension of each set. Si
-
Great little shootout! Especially with them being all on the same bass! It would interesting if you could comment on the tensions of each set, this is again effected by gauge, but would be interesting to know. I literally just strung my '71 P with a set of D'addario Chromes tonight and am loving them! It's been a while since I've had flats fitted where I get on with the tension! Si

I have one of the Warwick boards, the equivalent to the PedalTrain Nano, and it's fine, basically the same as the Nano, same bag etc. Each of the beams are marginally thinner than the Pedaltrain, but realistically I don't think this will cause any drop in structural integrity. Gigged mine plenty and it's fine. Si
-
Cheers, it's actually a more subtle sound that I'm after, I've found that the POG into overdrive is a little too 'Royal Blood', so figure I can get something that's more subtle and in one pedal. That said, I already have a COG T-16 on that board, and run overdrive as my main sound, so I could just play an octave higher and use the T-16.....maybe. Different sound though. Basically I think I want a Fuzz pedal that has a blend and the fuzz side has an analogue Octave up Si
-
Am interested to know what people think are the best analogue Octave (up) Bass Fuzz? I'm thinking of replacing my POG + Distortion setup for high octave distortion with a single pedal analogue solution. Cheers Si
