1.
I bought a book many moons ago "Electronic Projects for Guitar"
Is it an RA Penfold (or someone like that) book? About £4 when it was printed? I had about 5 of his audio project books, never made anything from them though.
 2.
Oh dear, I think I've given the wrong impression. What I meant to say is that my feelings are NOT heading TOWARDS the Little Mark. Actually, this thread has slightly turned me against it If I'm counting right, though four say they can get this kind of vibe straight into an LMII or LMIII, another four (a lot) say they'd need to use a SansAmp... and I don't want to use any outboard gear at all. Of course, I'm going to try for myself. An LM might turn out to be perfect...
I had a good fiddle about with my LMII and Sansamp this evening, playing only through a 1x15" cab. I think I've succeeded in a setting that sound great with the amp on it's own and then some colouration with the BDDI without losing the mids. I've backed off the blend on the BDDI so it's about 60-70% dry. I also noticed that the VPF (Variable Pre-Shape Filter) was turned round 180 degrees, so at a glance it looked like it was rolled totally off, whilst being about 60% on. I played a few songs without any pedals running and was mightily impressed, it sounded nicer than just the amp and the 4x8" cab. So don't be put off by what has been said, you're doing the right thing by trying stuff out yourself.
 3. There's a Rob Dix on Facebook who's profile photo is a load of valves. It could be him. But there aren't any public photos of the amp
 4.
I like the BDDI but that huge cut at 500hz changes the sound in a way I don't really like;
It's beginning to annoy me too. I shall be spending a lot of time at rehearsal this evening fiddling with my BDDI. I can see the blend control setting getting lower and lower...
 5. I've had this problem on: iPhone with Safari over 3G, Wi-Fi, and Edge iPad with Safari over Wi-Fi iMac with latest Safari over broadband (wired) Powerbook G4 with latest Firefox over broadband (Wi-Fi) Crappy work Dell with ancient Internet Explorer over dodgy Gov internet connection, so I discount that one..
 6.
Reason for edit: Naughty word replaced with slightly less naughty word
But you forgot to change it in the quote in your post.
 7. I use a precision with flats through a 1x15" (or a 4x8", or both) and a Mark Bass LMII. It kicks out a lot of thump, but is very clean. So I have Sansamp BDDI to add a bit of colour and dirt, but even blended it scoops the mids. I'm beginning to think an alternative for the BDDI might be in order.
 8.
DV247... Fender Geddy Lee J Bass Was: £720 Now: £848 Happy new year inf*ckingdeed!
Have a look at the Steve Harris then! I paid £840 in March last year, from GAK.
 9.
I know a lot of people who don't like Primus. But for me,they were one of only a handful of bands who blew me away the moment I heard them.
Same here. I bought Suck On This about a year after buying my first bass and was totally in awe of Les. Almost made me want to learn slap bass... I do prefer the stuff with Brain on drums though. For years I tried to imagine what Metallica would have been like if he'd joined them, instead of Newsted. But when I heard the cover of The Thing That Should Not Be I realised they'd be exactly the same as Les would not have got a say in the writting of songs. "Sorry Les, that bassline is amazing but can you just follow the guitar parts and add a little fill every 12 bars. thanks" EDIT: Back on topic the bass is really growing on me...
 10. I don't really notice any difference switching between my 35" scale 5 string and my other 34" basses.
 11.
I'll let you know in a few days, I've used Harris strings for a year now but ordered the Jazz Flats the other day. I have a feeling it's just the silks that are a different colour. I did email Rotosound and asked, apparently there's "some difference in construction, to Steve's spec"...
The Jazz77s arrived today, out the pack they look and feel the same as the Steve Harris ones. I'll put them on my Steve Harris P when I get chance and report back. I know what people mean about the round wounds going off pretty fast. They used to last me 2 rehearsals and 2 gigs before sounding like thick elastic bands. But flat wounds are a different kettle of fish, the set I'm replacing are a year old and only sound slightly different to when they were new.
 12. Neck stamp is the day I was born! and I love Tele basses! Not got the money though. Good luck
 13. First two that come to mind: Waiting Room and Margin Walker by Fugazi
 14.
I've stuck some Steve Harris Sig flatwound Rotos on my bass, they sound fantastic. I expect I only paid a little extra for them as they've got his name on it. I have a feeling they're only normal roto flats with his logo on the box but I'm pleased with how they sound.
I'll let you know in a few days, I've used Harris strings for a year now but ordered the Jazz Flats the other day. 15. I've used rotosounds for over 20 years, dabbled with Elites for a year or so and tried Ernie Ball's once or twice but came back to Rotos. I'm just so used to them now I doubt I'll change to anything else. About a year ago I switched to flat wounds one my Precision basses and they sound fantastic.
 16. Shame about all the people talking... I'm glad I have the recording of this on 7"
 17. Here's a quick update, picked up a 1x15" cab from oldslapper last week, to go with the Mark Bass head and 4x8" cab I got from him a couple of months back, now changed the grill back and added yellow piping. Tried it all last night at rehearsal, it sounds excellent. Need to re-tweak the Sansamp BDDI to adjust for the 1x15"...
 18.
some seriously nasty punk bass here.
Nice!!
 19. Great finishes on some of them, but the only person who could get away with playing any of them is Prince...
 20. The BTB range gets smaller and smaller each year...
 21.
That's pretty cool! I've just purchased one on ebay. £29 inc shipping. brand new.
Well, it took a bit of time getting here, but it arrived today. I shall have a mess around with it at rehearsal on Friday!
 22.
How much are they now?? I was quoted £330 locally last Easter
Before christmas you could got one for £259 from Digital Village, now £319!
