1. Listened to Piece of Mind and Powerslave earlier. Now switched to Nitzer Ebb's output.
 2.
Maybe those with John East pre-amps can help. I want to fit an East preamp into my Fender Marcus but I am not sure which one will work well. I think the factory preamp sounds a bit bland and I was looking for something with a bit more thud and crisp. Excuse my choice of words....
They do a Marcus Retro 01
 3. I just use my Panasonic Lumix, it gives surprisingly good quality sound for a P&S camera. My Youtube Suff
 4.
I've seen that video before and it cracks me up every time I watch it. I'm suprised 'Arry lets anyone touch his bass, it's like, his 8th child! Shows you that maiden hate playback though! Can't wait to get it finished!!!
IIRC they did it because they'd heard The Beastie Boys, who were on after them, were going to smash up all their (the Beastie Boys' no Maiden's) equipment. So to make them look a bit foolish Maiden kept swapping gear.
 5. It was my memory! Here's the bass from the tour (being played by Dave Murray, with 'Arry on vocals)
 6.
To be honest man, they probably were back then, I'm mainly working off the pictures from the Japan show to support the AMOLAD album in 06 which is where I got that picture from. I could only find like, 2 from back then and one of them was him in a rather attractive set of hot pants under a tree holding the branch which his bass round his neck. Didn't fancy staring at that for hours which gaffering the bass... haha!
Now I have a really bad mental image... thanks. The bass is looking great though, I once tried to do a checker board on the underside of a skateboard back in the 80s. I gave up after 2 hours, 3 attempts and 4 rolls of insulation tape...
 7.
They're the same size as the ones on his I got a load of pictures of his Somewhere In Time bass (which he had re-made in 2006 on a different P Bass) and scale measured it out. Turns out the squares on mine are the same size as the squares on his one which is 1 and 3/16's of a inch squared
I could have sworn they were bigger, but then I am working off my memory of seeing them on the tour back then
 8.
I'm having these put on a custom Marseer from Robbie at RIM basses. Look ideal - no battery drain - other than the charging torch. The idea is that the rods are inserted into the neck, and they fluoresce for around 45 minutes when charged with the torch that comes with the purchase. Charging involves shining the torch at each dot for a few seconds. Ingenious.
And at £19 for a stick and the torch (excl. P&P/duty etc) it's pretty cheap. Might get some to add to my Warwick project bass...
 9. I'm surprised you didn't go for a bigger checked pattern, similar to Mr Harris' Somewhere In Time era P
 10. you need to change your username to "waynepunkdude MKII"
 11. My heaviest bass is my Steve Harris P - 11lbs Next heaviest was a surprise, it was a tie between my Ibanez BTB405 and my Aria Pro II SB Elite 10.1lbs
 12.
Who was it that said: "It's better to regret something you did, than something you didn't"?
Butthole Surfers? (track has long lead in)
 13.
You and me both, I've ordered the pedal and another one (the Red Ripper) see below video, that's got to be a laugh, when I get them I'll post a small review.
The Red Ripper is also something I'm interested in. I'll keep an eye out for your reviews.
 14.
Porky's Prime Cuts!

Wow. That's something I haven't seen for a loooong time!
Yeah, definitely a name from the past!
 15. Want one! and the VT bass head!
 16.
or is there anyone here who would swap bass with somebody else in the band during a set?
I'm trying to get a couple of my mates to get off their arses and form a band where we don't stick to the same instrument all the way through the set.
 17.
I play in Psychobilly/Punk and we have no problem with using a theremin...
Cool! In work at the mo, I'll have a look when I get home.
 18. One of the reasons I'd love to form a post rock band is so you can use whatever you want without scorn from people "You want to use a theremin? but we're a punk band!!" Some instruments I'd love to have in a band situation: Hammond B3 with Leslie cab Theremin Various noise making boxes (eg. Sirkut Electronics Synth Noise Box) Cello Reasons? I just love the sounds the instruments make. I could listen to a single low note on a driven B3 through a slowly rotating Leslie cab for hours
 19. I've decided to sell my BTB as it doesn't get the use it should. It's a bit of a beast: 35" scale length 18-19mm string spacing 3 band (with sweepable mid) 18v electronics It's in pretty good condition... I'm looking for £200 collected. I can deliver within a reasonable distance for fuel costs. I'll take some more photos in the next day or so...
