1. The Squier bass I was looking went up £50 before the VAT hike! I'll look for a used one... ... Anyone thinking of parting with their blue 50s classic vibe precision in a few months? EDIT: oh and Diesel on Monday 126.9p, now 136.9p
 2.
Also notice that Drum is the only one without much vocabulary .
And called the same as the "instrument" she plays, so she can remember. I love Zingzillas. Favorite episodes so far have been the Theremin one and the Evelyn Glennie one. Not seen the Zender one yet, but it's only a matter of time.
 3.
I like that.
My dad brought them back to my attention last week. They were always a band I wanted to check out but never seemed to manage it. The band was formed by 3 bassists. So I looked on emusic and there they were. I now wish I'd put some more effort in years back and bought some stuff. There's some samples off different releases here
 4. Has everyone stopped listening to stuff? Anyhoo: Rothko:
 5.
Not yet Liam. I'd like to try some Honeys on my ADB. Thanks for the play this a.m., very helpful. Hope you and the family had a good day. John
No problem at all John. We did indeed have a good day. Thanks for the cuppas.
 6.
Did these sell Mr Clarky sah? Would like to buy, if Jake's not interested, been promised them, or bought them. Ta John
So you've decided which EUB then?
 7. I keep looking at the Korg app, but as the iPad is my wife's I don't think I'll be getting it...
 8. Bass Direct, just outside of Leamington Spa, are an NS design stockist. I bought an NXT on Tuesday, was used to the scale length by Wednesday afternoon. You can set the action on NS Design uprights, via 2 screws behind the rear plate. I left mine as it was set, medium/low action, but it still takes more effort to play than a fretted or fretless bass. It doesn't feel like a fretless bass as the action, playing position, scale length and string spacing are all completely different. I have no idea if it's like a real double bass as I've never played one.
 9. I looked at that Black and red Esh on Tuesday. It looks better in real life.
 10. Here's my lovely Steve Harris Sig. And my JV Squier:
 11.
I think I found that the hardest part of the transition was actually using the instrument as a new instrument - the temptation is to just treat it as an upright bass guitar and lose all of the 'texture'...
That's pretty much exactly what I said to my wife this afternoon. So I've given up playing bass lines I already know and I'm just improvising.
 12. I was wondering the same thing a month or so ago. Started off thinking about just using my warwick fretless, then thought it'd still sound too electric. Then looked at fretless acoustics, but the price got up to EUB range before I found a nice one. As I've wanted an upright I thought I may as well go for an NS Design NXT. Picked it up yesterday, already used to the different playing position and the different scale length, the string spacing it taking a bit longer though
 13. Not practicing anything in particular, just getting used to my EUB...
 14.
Very tempted by one of these... Did it come with the tripod as standard? What's the difference between the NXT & the WAV models (other than about £100). Shep
The tripod is the supplied stand. The end pin stand is £200 extra. There's a bit here about the difference
 15.
Liam, you'll hate this eventually, so to save you any heartache bring this to my house on Monday and I'll take it off your hands.....purely as an act of kindness..
It's a very kind offer John, but unfortunately I have a feeling it'd take slightly longer than a week for me to hate it. If that happens at all.
Oh and don't forget, I'll have one of the brazil nut chocs from that Thornton's box plz.
Righto!
 16.
Pretty, if only it had an extra string!
I was thinking "Nice, shame about the extra string!"
 17. Collect it today! It feels great to play, the different scale length doesn't seem to be a problem. Probably because it's a totally different playing position. Been playing through my sansamp BDDI and headphones as I'm at my parent's and ampless. Once the strings dull down a little it's going to sound great! Can't wait to get home on Sunday now!
 18. Had a flying visit there today to pick up my EUB. Mark was great. I tried very hard not to look at the basses hanging up, I failed miserably though. My eyes kept getting drawn back to the Dingwalls! The parking area was a total thawing icy nightmare though. It was a pleasure meeting you again Mark. Have a great New Year!
 19.
Here are the manuals for mine ( which is for sale ) which explains how to use one, and may help you decide how easy or difficult they are to use.
I should post the two large manuals (the official, badly translated manual and the unofficial, easy to understand one) for the Roland R-8 for comparison.
 20.
Is it possible to download the drum section for our chosen songs and then play them ? It just sounds easier!!
You could search for MIDI files, I suppose. Then strip out the other instruments. Drum machines are pretty easy to program. Software drums are easier due to the fact you have a bigger screen and a better graphical interface.
 21.
You MUST include a price with any for sale advert.
Have you seen the date on the original post?
 22. Things have moved on since Dr Avalanche first appeared. I've been in a band that got fed up with real drummers so we switched to using drum machines. We used an Alesis SR-16 for the more aggressive songs and a Roland R-8 for the more complex ones.
 23. The books are fantastic, but they have a down side. I suddenly want on of these:
