1. He's fantastic! I'm a big NoMeansNo fan. I'm lucky enough to have seen them live!
 2.
I know that virtually all the members of BC don't like Rickenbackers, and even the ones who do will probably turn their noses up at the reversed headstock, but frankly my dears I don't give a damn...
I'm not much of a fan of Rickenbackers, but that is the nicest one I've seen...
Seafoam Green is the best colour!
Nah, that purple sparkle one is the best!
 3.
I now understand the appeal of Billy Sheehan. What a solo! Great tone too, big, fat and warm. Proper bass tone!
Billy Sheehan has an amazing sound when it's recorded the way he likes (ie, mic'ed set up not DI'ing to desk) I think Niacin is the best stuff he's ever recorded!
 4. I love the Attitude basses, never actually owned one though. And the unbiased part of me has to say the Steve Harris P. I am tempted by the MM Jazz too...
 5.
What better place to show off my new TC Electronics rig.... with all the combinations.... oh and to be able to run the Yamaha Attitude as it should be run... Stereo
Nice set up! I used to love running my modded Aria into a two amp set up. One signal path clean the other split clean/overdriven. I have two amp set ups again, but my Aria needs a lot of TLC. Maybe one day I'll get to do it again.
 6. Basically I use my Sansamp Programmable BDDI to change the amount of drive. Blend is set to 50/50 then into a MarkBass head with the eq set flat. And you know you've got the sound you want if you have to DI to the PA.
 7.
For fear of repeating myself from another post I just hooked up an Ernie Earplugs Regenerative Feedback Processor - its a passive pedal requiring no batteries- that can adda synth like quality to your dirty tone and allows you to switch it in and out and retain the tone of your dirt pedal. For me its been quite fun playing with the volume control and hearing how that affects the tone.
That's pretty cool! I've just purchased one on ebay. £29 inc shipping. brand new.
 8.
Thanks for that Liam! I'll bear you in mind if you are after the 1x15, if the 2 don't sell together,....you'll then have my complete old rig.... Still loving the LMII & 4x8?
Please do, I'm up for having it. The more I use it, the more I love it. The 4 x 8" has already silenced a few sceptics. Hopefully it'll get it's first gig, with me, near the end of January.
 9. Currently: Disappear - NoMeansNo (oh, just ended) Now: Fall From The Stars - God Is An Astonaut
 10.
Dave Dearnaley in Cardiff would probably do a good job for you. He reretted my Stingray some years back and I was pleased with the results. I don't have his details but think they are on a luthier sticky somewhere on this site.
This guy?
 11. No split? Bah! That combo is surprisingly small and light and John's a great guy to deal with.
 12.
My earliest memory of listening to music for pleasure was being given a cassette walkman with Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds on it. I think I must have been around 4. It may have grabbed me due to the juxtaposition between storytelling and music, but whatever the case it definately influenced me a lot. So much so that one of the first things I taught myself to play on an instrument, when I was 7 or 8, was the synth line from "The Artilleryman and the Fighting Machine", all on one string of my brother's guitar.
War of the Worlds was the first record I bought myself. would have been the January after it was released, I'd heard it over New Year at my uncle's. I've listened to that album at least 6 times a year ever since...
 13.
I am still looking for a really good Leather strap like the one I have now. It has to be VERY supple padded leather, and adjustable. And absolutely no plastic parts. Just leather with holes in. I can't seem to find one.
The 3.75" ones I linked to are soft leather. They're kinda padded too...
 14.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows read by Stephen Fry. I am forced to listen to someone else read as the voice in my head is boring and i fall asleep when i try to read anything.
I listen to someone else reading stuff so I can fall asleep! But currently I'm listening to Shrinebuilder...
 15. I bought a Mono strap for my Steve Harris P, but it does slide about a bit. I'm going to try a 3.75" wide leather strap like I use on my 5 string.
 16. My daughter gets to hear lots of different stuff if she's with me when I'm on the computer, as I always have music playing. When she was a couple of months old (she's only 9 1/2 months now) some Leonard Cohen would calm her down when she had colic. Her favourite tv programme is Zingzillas (which is a music based kids tv show, for those that don't know), she took particular notice of the theremin episode (tyring to use this as an excuse to buy one) and the one with Evelyn Glennie on. When she's at my sister in law's Tilly loves to hit the keys on the piano, she'll also hit the stings on a bass if you lie it in front of her, but hopefully she won't become a slap player...
 17. Was listening to "Black" and "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam and "Coil" and "Bridge of Sighs" by Opeth on my drive to work... I think Opeth will feature again today, although I do fancy some Pogues...
 18. Didn't notice this bit earlier:
I'm sure a lot of people will be against the idea but I see a fair bit of potential in it.
Why would anyone be against the idea? I've seen dozens of bands that use programmed drums live. I was in a band that used and Alesis SR-16 and a Roland R-8 as we got sick of unreliable drummers. No one in the audiences cared.
 19.
It may well be.
My guitarist bought one to a rehearsal a while ago. We all pointed and laughed, until he started playing. They sound really nice! Shame he hasn't used it since and relies on his crappy and knackered Peavey 65...
 20. Christ! You don't hang about! Is that a 15 watt Laney valve combo your guitarist is using?
 21. Check out Godflesh, more grindcore than metal, but it gives you a good idea. takes about a minute for the drums to kick in. And Pitchshifter.
 22.
These came out around the late 90s. A certain quirky charm
I remember the Distortocasters!
 23. Currently listening to Clint Mansell's score to Black Swan: His work gets better and better...
 24.
I'll probably be shot for saying this, but anyone else thinking that he's a bit of a one-trick pony? Personally, I think his slap playing on that oriental express track is quite intrusive and lacks regard for style/taste or musical sensitivity. It just sticks out like a sore thumb and SCREAMS of someone trying too hard to be heard.
I don't know about all that but that music is just horrible. It's like lift muzak! Either stick with the Korean instruments, which sound amazing, or just have the cheasy listening crap. The "fusion" fails! I prefer the guy's solo efforts!
