So, I'm playing in a new project (pop artist..), and producer, as he wants my amp to be mic'ed, asked me to choose one as fast, as possible (gig waiting other weekend!)... I'll be (probably) mic'ing my Trace Elliott Commando 15 (1x15 speaker), if it matters, of course.. And, well, probably, other amps, so, I need versalite mic, but, well, all in all, I think, it should be a bass mic.. Oh, I was doing records with bass drum mic, and I enjoyed the result pretty much, so, if you know any decent ones, they'd be probably also welcome to suggest.. The bad thing is, that producer didn't tell me the exact budget, when I asked, but, as I suppose, it shouldn't be a cheapo thingy.. Anyway, for now, let's talk about 150-350 pounds.. (I know, it's quite wide price range, but, I'll let you know, if'll get the exact possible budget from him) So, I'm waiting your suggestions, guys! P.S. Mods, hope, this is in the right section, as it has something to do with amps, anyway Cheers, Faith.

Well, I don't think that changing strings is the best solution - it costs a fair amount of money, and blisters - it's not a permanent thing, is it?.. Give your hands a fair break (if it's possible, of course..), then, make yourself a schedule of practising (playing every day helps to avoid heavy blisters, your fingers will strengthen, too..).. If there's no other way (I mean, if situation's really bad, and you have to play, no matter what), then, maybe, popping those blisters would be the solution.. Of course, it should be done very cleanly (sterilicity is a must, in this case!) If you decide to do this, you will, anyway, have to give your hands a day-break or so.. The longer, the better. Let us know, how it goes, Faith

Billy Sheehan - Technique with no soul?
Faithless replied to saibuster's topic in General Discussion
It feels like a bit of a 'mess' about this Billy Sheehan thing.. I mean, when it comes to guitards....... ok ok, and bassists, who do all that damn shredding-tapping-slapping typo thing, we call them 'w***ers, who can't make any music outta it' and such, but, when it comes to Sheehan - oh, look, he's God.. Or am I'm simply missing something there? No matter what, I'll get my coat whenever you ask -
Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch.... Sweeeet.

I couldn't believe about that SRX700.. Anyway, I've never spotted Victor using that hair band, I mean, it doesn't work (mute strings) in that place, where he's normally holding that thing in, right? Finally, it doesn't work to me like that..

Billy Sheehan - Technique with no soul?
Faithless replied to saibuster's topic in General Discussion
Oh, I can proudly say, that his playing is all technique, but hardly any soul. Of course, there are a few songs, that I can stand, but, generally.. Pants. -
You will not do it, will ya? 1988 Ibby.. Mate, you must be mad. Anyway, no permission is given there.

Nice tone though..

Hello, guys.. So, lately I've been mainly into pop music (projects and stuff..), and I realised that i must dig into pentatonics more seriously. I mean, it's not the soloing or something, that's important to me. No. I just want get a few advices how to construct pentatonic formulas, so that i could add a few tasty licks, when playing with a band n stuff.. I've been playing 'two-octave' pentatonic 'scales', starting from each pentatonic's degree, and a few other exercises, but I can't work it out, how to adapt 'em, so that they would fit in all 12 keys... Don't get me wrong - it's not the notes, that are the issue, I know them - I just want, that it'd become for me easy to use pentatonics when accompanying. So, do you know any good books/advices, that'd give a bit knowledge about all this to me? All the best, Faith

Your Fave Basschat Bass Players!
Faithless replied to doctor_of_the_bass's topic in General Discussion
As someone mentioned before, I think, it's not a fair question, as there's no fair answer, when talking about 'who's the best'.. It's just because nobody has heard most BC'ers playing, so, how the hell can you judge by a few players, that you've heard? Oh, I'm saying this not because I'm feeling a better player than those mentioned, but this thread simply looks a bit cockamamie to me.. All the best, Faith. -
I suppose it's passive bass? Well, I'll talk about the price with him, and maybe he'll want to swap it for my Ibby GSR 5 + a bit of money or stuff.. I've never had Warwick before, only played one RockBass and Dolphin in shop - impressions were good, esp with Dolphin, but hey, it's damn expensive anyway.. But I want to try it, as I'm not happy with my Ibbies action and stuff.. The only thing that would draw me from that Warwie would be spacing, bigger than 16.5, ok, 17mm's..
-
So, one chap is selling his Warwick Rockbass 5... Says, it is in good condition, new set of strings, and so on.. Here's photo's: http://mainyk.lt/?pageid=20&id=296808 (choose one of those 'little' photos, and the click on the chosen, but 'bigger' one - you'll get the full size of photo) I'm not sure about the exact model - is this Rockbass Streamer, Corvette, or what? And, secondly, he wants about 350 pounds for it - something tells me, it's waaay overpriced.. Any help will be appreciated, Cheers, Faith..

Got, but I need online stuff due some reasons.. So, no more help there, guys?.. I'm sure, there were a few folks, who knew about it.
-
I've must have forgotten the one, I used to know, so I'm asking again, if anyone knows any online programs, that let you to choose a few chords and loop them. And, then, I could do my crappy soloing on it... (hides) Any suggestions welcome, guys! Cheers, Faith.

Oh gosh... Shouldn't this be in effects thread? Sorry, it's just me again.
Unless you want to get as technical as Rocco (Tower of Power) then space is your friend. Very few people really do pull off the TOP Rocco 16th note groove in a funky way - thats why hes so good. Stick to Bootsy style one-ness for months, whilst trying to get your fingers so fast they can play those sixteenth note grooves swung super hard and still sound relaxed.
IMHO, being funky and being technical is not a must at the same time.. And, are you telling me that Francis is techy guy? C'mon, just take a look at his school - his technique (compared to some 'modern' ones) is simply sh1te. But he still remains funky after all.
My SR1006EBG is on it's way across the pond right now I will post pics once received if you guys want? Charss
You know the rule, mate: No pics - no bass then.. Cheers, Faith.

600? Maybe you could get SR Prestige series... Great, universal basses with active pre-amp, thin neck and stuff like that.. I've got one, so, any questions are welcome about it BTW, there's a huge thread about Ibanezes, here.. I've attended Motown-tribute band gig yesterday Their permanent bassist was gigging in London (!) last weekend with his jazzband, D'Orange, and his flight-back was delayed, so tribute-band took a substitution for him.. I was quite dissappointed about not seeing my idol, but, then again, substitution was good anyway - the guy was plucking 6-string Pedulla, which sounded (especially it's B string) awesome. In general, gig was good, but few band-members were letting it down due to their apathy to the groove and music - you could tell it from their faces.. nevertheless, I've found a few new Motown songs, that I didn't know before, and they were so groovy.. So, can anyone tell me tell full names of Motown songs that start with word Sunshine?
Thanks for the heads up. The Standing in the Shadows of Motown is a must for pretty much everyone on this forum.
Why? i've tried watching it, but couldn't be arsed, don't know if I ended up somewhere in the middle of it... But I'll try it for second time, as I'm going to see Motown tribute band next weekend... I'll get my coat now.
