1.
I think so. How long they been on though? They don't dull as much in tone BUT the tension could be fatigued.
What do you mean by that - fatigued, mate? They've been on BTB for about 8-9 months, or so, I believe, but they we practically untouched.. Hope, their tension isn't very harsh, as I'm looking for quite soft-tension ones..
2. Thanks, mate, but, I'm a little afraid to use that version - too messy for me.. Anyone?
3. Could anyone cut the bass out for me (it still can be heard, but, not in the first place, if you know, what I mean..) in the recording? I don't like the MIDI stuff anyway.. I could send you the record, if you don't have it Would like to get it in an hour or two, or so, if possible.. Cheers, Faith.
4. Got a question for you, techies, what exact gauge strings Ibanez BTB's are equipped in factory with? Elixir mediums - .045 .065 .085 .105? I can't get decent Elixir's in shop, so, I'm thinking of taking them off my friend's BTB, as he doesn't play it at all practically..
5. I'd better get a proper tutor, if I had 4 grand. Honestly. *runs for cover*
6. Oh, I've just tried it, when i wrote B2, nothing seemed to change, but writing B1 helped - although, low notes show themselves quite rarely, too rarely indeed.. (Hails *ERB* and hides)
7. Paul, thank you very much, matey, I'll try it and tell, how it goes!
One question - as a bassist, wouldn't you want to turn the bass track off and play your own?
Well, when using B-i-B, playing 'on my own' isn't my goal actually - Nowadays I'm trying to improve my reading skills, that's why I don't turn it off - it also helps to know, if I have made any mistakes..
But you will be better off using it as a learning tool and manufacturing your own. It will help you to do that too
What do you mean by that, mate? All I'm using B-i-B is for learning issues, what more can it be used for, at the end, eh?
8.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iimMKWF7SK0...feature=related
Aye, know & love that one
9. So, my tutor showed me this amazing program, and I'm working on in a lot as I like it very much, but, as I'm 5-string player (low B ), here's the question... Is there some sort of option, that allows the program to generate a bassline for 5-string instrument - cuz they're basically generated for 4-string, as you know?.. But, as Band-in-Box looks quite a smart thing, I thought, I could ask you, chaps.. P.S. I'm using a 2006 or 2007 version, if it makes any sense here.. Cheers, Faith.
10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMmYptMKzuw&NR=1 And this one... Don't get caught, there's only Richard and Horacio, no geeetar Some sortta effect Richard's using..
11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8loYrI6oW0 I like Kazumi pretty much, got his DVD, but, this tune... Brilliant. You would even enjoy geeeetar's solo.. just wanted to share. Faith.
12.
Except for 5 extra notes a 5 is really only a 4 but with some of the notes in a different place, it's not a different instrument at all.
And that is were I cannot agree with you. I'd say, 4ers and 5ers differ very much - just think of, for example, scales - their construction - they're made in quite a different way on 4er and 5er (positioning and stuff..), yes? And here we are talking just about scales - the beginning of things... It's all about the benefits, we manage to find, or not.. But, for God's sake, I could never ever tell that 4ers and 5ers ain't different..
13. To remind you, you haven't mentioned, how your bass is strung, matey - with low B or high C But I got your mind now.. Try 'transcribing' a simple bassline you like (yeah, simple, cuz, at the beginning, it will be a storm in your head..) to the 5th position of bass.. (where the E note on B string starts, i mean..) and stay in that position, as long, as it's possible - it will be hard at the start, but you'll get used to it.. It's not the B string, that it is a problem, or the songs, that are for 'five string bass' (do they really exist?).. No. The problem is to get used to using the benefits of extended range.
14. Oh, it put a lil' smile on my face, but we shouldn't 'bully' him with offensive jokes - guy's young, a few compliments made their job, and we have what we have, don't we?.. Anyway, who said that 15er couldn't be a hell of a player? (Session worker is not a correct term here, but, you got my mind..)
15. Well, recently, I've started using latex gloves for most home-works, I mean, washing dishes and so on.. Hey, I wouldn't do it, but, I can decently play bass only with hands..
16. Maybe I didn't get your mind, but, on the whole, it seems sh1tty easy song...
17.
Sadly, a great sax player and great friend of mine did exactly that, about 15 years ago. His other passion, aside from music, was carpentry. Sliced through half the fingers of his left hand with one of those big mounted circular saws. Doctors re-attached the fingers, but sadly his sax playing days were over. End of career and end of hobby! You'll probably recognise him from this clip. unfortunately, most of the solo is cut. Oh, and handsome bass player, don'tya think?
Top video. But, sax's playing is really hot.
18. I'd ask you to count me in too, if you, of course, wouldn't mind covering my flight tickets from Lithuania to London.. Oh, I won't mind, if you can't, of course.. Just kidding.
19. Congrats from Lithuania, matey, glad, you got it
20. That was so cool.. I mean, it's not the SWR, but the explanation itself - as simple and clear, as it could be I wish, there'd be more guys on Youtube talking simply (cos I don't practically understand a thing about Hz and things..) about Midrange and stuff, coz it's sooo important.
21. So, as above, I've got my bass exam in about two weeks - I'm going for a place in local College of Conteporary Music.. I'll be playing Jaco's (Weather Report) Teen Town there, and I had to do it with help of my friends - drummer and keyboardist, but, they've just told, they aren't sure, if they could attend the event that day.. So, just to make it sure, I have to get 'minus' version of Teen Town (bass'eless version of it..), and I just don't know, where to look it for.. So, can anyone of you, folks, help me there? I'd be soooo thankful.. P.S. There's other variant - I know there's something to do with frequencies (cutting the bass off the recording..), but, as I'm not keen on it, I'd ask someone to do this for me - I'll send you a file, you do the trick, and send it back, right? All the best, Faith..
22. Even I do know it - da Gallery
23. So, I've attended a few jam-nights over the time, and there I've faced my horrible lack of ideas when soloing. All I can do at the moment is 'to go for a walk' with some pentatonic stuff. Oh, I'm not saying that pentatonics are bad, no, I'm simply short of knowledge/ideas, how to play solo stuff over chords. So, a day ago I've bought Akai Headrush looper (I've been thinking about it for a while..), so that I could loop some chords, and play 'over' them, hopefully, it could start improving me.. The problem is, when I've started to play on looped chords, I actually( I know, sounds stupid..) do not know, where to start... I mean, I'm soloing in the same old manner I used to do.. So, I'm asking you - where to start? Take simple solos/leading melodies (other instruments' maybe, not only bass..), find out their basic harmony, loop it, and try re-playing/'developing' those melodies? This is the only way, I've 'invented', so, suggestions are welcome, chaps.. Cheers, Faith
24.
Faith, if you have a problem with modding on the forum, please take it up via PM to the relevant moderator. That's the correct way to do it. I'm not making a big deal about it. Just trying to point you in the right direction in the future. We have had a few threads in General Bass Discussion about bridges, strings etc that have run quite well in this section of the forum. I have no problem with it staying here really. But being as Hot Tub has asked for it to be moved I will move it. This thread could have stayed in General Bass discussion though, no problem. Thanks John
Ok, matey, I dig, what you mean, but, I'll repeat it - if I wanted my latter post to be dedicated only to Mods, I actually would have done so, but it wasn't all dedicated to them, it was also dedicated to ordinary Basschaters, hopefully, other time they make a thread of BadAsses (for e.g.), they think about it once more before posting it in certain forum section. Anyway, thanks for you kind suggestion, I'll do it, when I feel a need for this But, am I missing something, or you're trying to say, that there is no real difference, where you post particular posts about Strings, for eg., when there's a section (miscellaneous equipment and accessories), which states clearly, that Strings should be talked there... What the hell are those individual forum sections for, then, in the end, eh?
