So, I've noticed the problem during gigs - I'm hissing quite heavily when put through PA. I thought, maybe it's in the amp - i've tried to go straight to the line, no amp, and so on, but problem remains in the bass. Only if I cut the highs all the way, it's less noticeable, but, anyway.. The thing is, what I've noticed, it may have something to do with stage lights - I've noticed, that, when I was put through PA with no stage lights, there was no hiss from me(my bass)! In both venues, that I had problem with, sound engineers swore that 'grounding' is made in those venues, but, I wouldn't believe them 100%.. My bass is active Ibanez Prestige, one from the 'quality' ones, so, I don't think it has any wiring problems, or such.. So, anyone could give me an idea, how does bass interfere with stage lights? Faith

Bubinga, believe me, that vid is just a top of the iceberg, well, in fact, it doesn't tell a thing about Victor's music understanding - check his "Groove Workshop" dvd - it's not that kinda slappo'tappo thingy you'd expect - Victor talks and shows things, you would never think about..
Somthing like an ibanez SR1000EFM prestige REALLY grabs my attention as they look stunning, and i like ibanez necks, but ive never played one...
I have one, five string version - great sounding, versalite basses!... In fact, sometimes even too versalite, if you know, what I'm sayin' -
Would definitely be better with a backing track. Found it quite boring on its own. Nice sound though.
I thought so.. I have a drum machine, but don't have a soundcard (yet) to put it all together and record.. Thanks for your thoughts, mate

What progression are they using at the 'end' of that blues-bar? V-VI-I, right?

65kg... Should be though, right?

I owe you a pint for that one, Bilbo! Got to add, that Ney is a must to check for everyone, who loves latino.. Faith

Hey, Scojack, You meant those 'images' of sorta P pickups? That was probably just an idea or something like that, but this bass was 'born' with piezo, actually.
-
Yep, neck's from a proper DB, mate, so, you're probably right about scale
-
Well.. It sounds, more or less, like double bass Dah, I must admit, I can't comment on the sound that much, as I'm not keen (yet?) on upright bass' sounds and stuff.. Actually, you can dial a bunch of tones, cuz my EUB has active 2band eq, as I've mentioned before. I'm not sure about it's scale, I'll try to dig it out - once again, my knowledge about it is very poor, apologies.. Faith

We have some pics now, check first post!..

First of all, to be honest, I thought I'll never enter this forum section, literally... But, after playing my tutor's fretless, and spotting my friend's advert selling his stuff for cents, I thought, I'd give it a go.. Just to be clear, my new EUB isn't Stagg or whatever - it was made by one local bass luthier, here, in Lithuania. Now, what I mean by making, he took a neck from old Chezch double bass (Strunal, possibly..), and modified it a bit. My new bass specs are (those, that I know..): maple body, installed piezo, active electronics (2band EQ). It sounds pretty cool, I couldn't tell much difference from a, emmm, proper upright bass.. The thing is, I don't know if my bass need any tech tweaking, but, I hope, my tutor will help here.. In the end, it's Fun But, ok ok, I know, if there's no pics - there's no bass I'll take a camera to my studio, promise.. Faith PICS!!! Sorry for the look quality, Im not good, when it comes to photography and cameras stuff..

4? I don't know any of those songs, literally -
I've already chosen Mp3 version.. Thanks for your input, guys, I'll share my impressions!

I had an opportunity today to try my college tutor's lined fretless Ibanez.. Damn, those fretless thingies sound sooo good.. Fretless sound simply sings, for me.. I'm now thinking of making one of my Ibbies a fretless one, with lines, of course

So, as I'm looking for a portable bass trainer, I thought, I'd give Tascam a go, but, then, as there are few versions of it (CD, or MP3).. Is it more 'comfortable' to have MP3 trainer (which costs extra money), or you can live with CD version? If we talk about CD versions, there are 2, I believe - is there much difference between those two? Oh, just put your thoughts about those Tascam thingies, guys Cheers, Faith.

What's wrong with playing 'fretted' basslines on fretless, mate? I don't see much difference..
-
So, basically, I want to connect three thingies into one line: Amp, and two pedals.. Amp has Input, each pedal has Output/Input. Should be simple, but I couldn't get it.. Maybe it's just me. Anyone? Faith.
Unaccompanied singers can sing in any key! Or it might have been arranged and written up by a piano player used to playing with horns. Use a 5 string bass and you've got it covered, or just play an octave up.
Yup, I'm 5string player, so notes aren't the problem itself..
I wouldn't detune if I can avoid it. Having to transpose it all an extra half step is going to cause more trouble than playing it as its written, IMO. Its an extra complication that will just get in the way of what you're playing.
Well, I thought, it'd be easier to 'transpose' those flats, as, moreover, most of songs clearly stay in such keys, like Eb/Gb, only one or two has those damn changes to C and such.. Although, I'll give it a thought to what you're saying..
If you are a Christian, then let Jesus help give you the groove, get lost in the music.
Thanks, for your input, Stevie, brilliant as always..

I've got almost all the sheets with chords and stuff, and, here's the interesting thing.. As you may know, a lotta gospel music comes 'from' such keys like Eb, and other keys that have even 6 flats (Gb/F#).. So, as I know, gospel bassists solve this problem by detuning the bass half-step. But the problem is, that there are few tunes, where A part goes in 'ordinary' Gb, but the B Part goes from C, you know what I'm sayin'? So, if tune my bass to Eb, in a few tunes I'll face such 'strange' chords, like C#, E# and such.. I'm not saying, that I'm not familiar with them, but, it may feel a bit 'unpleasant'.. What do you, guys, do with 'gospel bass' tuning?

Could anyone recommend a few must-have Incognito's albums?
Gospel= typically music of faith Faithless= typically without faith Just slightly ironic, nothing personal
Thanks for clarity.. Although, I'd like to ask again, if anyone could comment a bit more on gospel tips and tricks, chaps, you're welcome.. Today, I've got a bunch of gospel recordings, and a few gospel basslines with functions, I'll try to dig it out, we'll see, what happens..

Thanks, The Funk, that was very helpful, mate
Nobody else smirking a little at "Faithless" asking for advice on gospel music?
Am I missing anything here?
