1. Once more, I'm not intending to offend anyone - it's all from me to make Basschat a better place Cheers everyone, Faith.
2. Sorry, as it's slighty OT, but, in the end, it's kinda related to my mind.. And, why I do this publicly - it's not only the mods, whose attention I want to attract, but every-one Basschatter's.. I've just opened General Discussion page, which says (to me), that here we should talk about bass related things, and what do I see? In first 5 of 7 'hottest' threads we have questions about Amps, Strings, wood re-applying, and Warwick Wax. Sorry, but don't we have such sections as Amps And Cabs (for backline related stuff..); Miscellaneous Equipment and Accessories (that clearly say, we should talk about strings exactly THERE. Bass 'hyghiene' stuff also included; bass bridges??..) ...and Technical Issues (techy related things about bass) I'm not trying to offend anyone, or sound rude, but, hey, if I want to talk/read about BadAsses or strings, I go to the appropriate sections and, altogether, I'm expecting others to do the same.. Hey, can I get my coat now? Cheers, Faith.
3. Good to know that particular types of porn are still allowed to show it publicly.. What's her name, MuseMatt?
4. Wasn't Meshuggah influenced by them?
5.
That's a new one on me. You slow-down the audio (assuming you're using a tool that slows down without affecting pitch) and then raise everything by an octave? And this let's you hear the bass better? Going to have to give this a whirl.
Yup, matey, that's exactly what I mean In other words, octave is 12 semitones up, if I'm correct (if you don't have any other way than just to hook it up by adjusting semitones..) Have fun, mate! Faith
6. Matey, this should be in Amps For Sale Section, just a bit lower down there in forum.. Cheers, Faith.
7. And, when using some sort of slow-downer, don't forget to hook-up the record one octave - then, all you can actually hear is the bass, and it's much clearer I don't actually transcribe tunes in normal 'setting', always have to hook it up by an octave, but, also, don't understand, how can it be unpopular among bassists... Faith
8. A few thoughts and suggestions from me.. As a few have already mentioned this, I don't actually see a point in getting one-more bass, in your case. It's not about the number of basses that you have (well, anyway, that's quite a few, though..), it's about the aim, why you need other bass - as far, as I'm reading this thread, I couldn't find it anywhere, though, even a few people already asked the same.. Are you looking for specific sound (doesn't look so, as you prefer Celinder, or whatever-one, just because of what-people say (nice to play, blah blah..), right?) [Which bass for 4k is not nice to play, in the end, eh? ] Or do you have impertinent producer, who's asking for that sound? (I get that feeling about it from the huge range of basses you have..) Are you happy with your current basses? (from what you said, I think, you're not - you said, that only Ostinato matches all your needs - so, why aren't you selling the rest of your axes, if you ain't totally happy with 'em? Jokin'. ) I could give a lot more questions like these, but I'm not about this.. Is a bass for you a must at the moment? If you're so tempted to spend that money, you could go not exactly for a bass, but for a bass related-thingies, like serious bass-studies course in summer, or whatever-when.. It could improve your knowledge about music, bass, rigs, sound (which, in my opinion, you should slightly improve your knowledge in..) and so on.. A new bass won't give you this, right? And maybe, after this (studies course), you could find THAT in your current basses, what you think, you've missed in them before.. And, in the end, maybe this wouldn't cost you 4 grand, eh? Oh, and don't take this post as a very serious one.... But, what's seriously, in my op, I don't think, that you are ready for a new bass. Eh, it's not about me being jealous or whatever-like, I just hope, that these ironic thoughts would help you to actually choose, what you want, no matter, how big the cash is. Cheers, Faith.
9.
You assume that everyone has read the same threads as you and that there are never any new members, if you accept those two observations you have an answer...
Oh, Jake, I wasn't actually talking about those, who start threads like this, indeed, I'm more about those, who reply to it.. And, usually, it's not the new membs, that do it, as we see.. You got my mind.
10. Hey, What about pinning one "Wootenie" thread in OT section (all talkies about him go in that way in the end, anyway, right..?) and banning all other, future-coming ones, eh? I think, I'm really gettin' sick about reading things people tell about him over and over again.. How many of you, already 'signed' in this particular thread (or the latter one - "Wooten - all of this doesn't seem right.."), are 'participating' in Wooten'oesque thread FOR THE FIRST TIME? I guess, not many, actually.. People, AREN'T YOU TIRED OF THIS? I am. Faith.
11.
Get a hold of Michael Manrings old VHS video. He concentrates for the first 3/4 of the video on finger conditioning. He goes into a staggering amount of depth and provides a huge array of well constructed exercises. No they wont change anything overnight, but if you actually do them for 6 months you wont believe the difference they make! And they are very focused on not damaging yourself and good warm ups etc. There is virtually nothing he cant do with his fingers on a fretboard, so I'd say take his advice - it helped me no end....
Hey, matey, could you tell the exact name of that video? Can't find it anywhere.. Cheers, Faith.
12. Looks kinda Fodera'esque to me.. Can't say, that it looks bad, though. What's wrong with it?
13.
Myself I have 2 Ibanez basses (so far)...I fought against getting one for years but they really do play well, sound well and are built extremely well for the price.
... Matey, I thought, that you know the Rule: No pics - it doesn't even exist then, eh!
14. Ibanez - sooo underrated... Solid stuff. Fender - BLEURGH...
15.
HUGE +1! That live on TV vid is great. They piss on most bands you hear/see these days...
Except Metallica, I think... Oooh, I'm starting it all over again.. Where's my coat?
16. Can't help you there, matey, but, let's hope, maybe Bassassin could give us some advice about Roadster beauties, eh..? Cheers, Faith.
17. Em... Dunno, maybe it's just me, but they looked like a bunch of oldies, who got 'a decent amount of money' to come back and do some foolish acting in front of cameras. Good ol' days? F*ck it. Even Metallica looks better these days. Oh, and the vocalist... BTW, sorry for all this. Maybe that because it's me, in the end.. Or just because I can't stand Sheehan.
18. Here's Marcus, doin' his thing on that song.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc3Brcn6MAY
19. My drummer recommended me to listen to some USA blues bassists, in case it would help in forming my sound in my rock-band.. So... I already know Joe Bonamassa's (the one, already mentioned here) ex-bassplayer, but I wanted to ask you chaps, if you could recommend any more artists (maybe already mentioned here, in this thread..) with serious bassplayers - those with good sound and interesting playing.. I'm mainly looking for, let's say, a bit more techy/choppy blues bassists, playing modern blues (mixed with other genres..), not the traditional bluesy-stuff..
20.
Haven't done more than a handful of gigs on fretted bass since 1986 (and they weren't by choice!).
And, what do you mean by that, Bilbo? You won't prove me it any-way, that fretless suits all situations in life...
21. TKenrick, fellow Basschater, has a few transcribies of Jamiroquai on his web.. But not the old ones, i mean, Runaway, for example..
22. GAAAAS incoming.......!
23. Here's a song from their DVD.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-yRFpzfodY By the way, tonight they're attending Kaunas Jazz Festival, here, in Lithuania, playing in capital Vilnius (damnit..), and, the interesting fact is, that, on Saturday, after one of festival's gigs in local Kaunas club, Nosso Trio's drummer and bassist, with support from other few Brazilian chaps, came to play in a Jam Session, where I was going to play also.. Bassist, Ney Conceicao, had no bass with him, so guess, whose bass he was rockin' that night? Man, he was doin' beastie things on Ibby.. Ah, check that video, so I won't need to talk about it that much.. Cheers, Faith P.S. I found a bass solo, that Ney played in Kaunas Jazz Fest two years ago, 2007.. 24. Nice job here, mate, but, shame, that they're Fenders, though.. I'll get my coat, if you don't mind, WoT..
25. Dave's really tasty player, when it comes to drums, real drums, I mean, and, the thing, that I can't dig, why he preffers that electronic piece of kit rather than real sh1t, eh?
