Hot God-damn! Well, them Eurotrash really screwed the pooch this time! I thought General Jack Pershing killed all these gun-waving Mexican Federales in 1915, but he must have missed a few of them God-damn curry-eating Frogs!! Doesn't this General Franco realise that, if it wasn't for the US, he'd be speaking Jap right now? This kind of brutal official, unofficial free-lance mugging of innocent American citizens innocently employing an innocent dodgy driver WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!! I demand that our Commander-In-Chief, President Obama, despatch the Sixth Fleet to bombard Copenhagen immediately. Send these pasta-eating Berliner sonsabitches to Gitmo!!!! See if they like the food in Africa, yeah? And now I'm hearing rumours that the Spaniards would like Victor back as they'd like to offer him some slapping lessons! WTF?

I can't believe what I read on TB. The EU folks are dishing out facts, and some people (step forward, Jauquowowo XXXXVVVVMMCXX) are choosing to totally ignore it.
Yup, that folk is just gorgeous.. "He has just spoken to Vic", you see... Vic couldn't understand a damn thing about situation too, FFS...

This one is from Talkbass.. Seems that SMV, when on tour, were stopped by Spanish border cops.. This goes from Vic's phone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMAs3VKtRLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csj4-pD9prI...feature=related One of the most interesting comments I spotted: May I give you non-european guys some basic background info before anyone draws premature conclusions....and gettin all spiced up on the ****ing corrupt europeans or the basque separatist thing. First this incident had nothing to do with the border. Actually there are no borders within Europe between countries that signed the Schengen agreement. This is dated ca. 1985. So there is no such thing like a spanish-french-basque whatever border control! So obviously what happend was, that a regular police check was performed on the bus (checking papers and stuff...) incidentally near the border. Europeans have some strict regulations on commercial / freight traffic especially when it comes to speeding and driving hours of the driver. Each bus/truck is equipped with a tachograph (recording of driving speed and hour). When a bus/truck is pulled over the police requests the tachograph recordings of the last 28 days and can easily fine each violation. What happend is that the bus driver is charged with a working time violation he had past month and he was fined for it € 2,000.00! That´s it! (All this becomes quite clear from the german conversation of the bus driver) Because we europeans consider sleepy bus drivers as one of the highest risk factors for fatal crashes these things are strictly enforced and fined heftily. Actually € 2,000 is quite modest for a over-time violation, they can go up to 10-15k ! So why were they not allowed to continue their travel and go on? - Simply because the bus was under a foreign license (probable german). The spanish authorities will have a hard / next to impossible time to collect the fine once the bus is back in its home country. So it is a very standard procedure that the vehicle is "arrested" (sorry for lack of any better word) until the fine is paid in full. Actually there is no legal basis for foreign authorities to collect money across european borders. Thats why all my holiday tickets get dumped unpaid. The fact that they got an official written receipt makes me almost 100% positive that they just got a regular legit fine. If there is anything fishy about the whole thing then IMHO it can only be the bus driver who tries to rip off SMV crew to make them pay for his own (past) ****-up!

God, my mistake there.. It's been a while since I last checked his gear in website, and, those names are quite familiar, aren't they... here it is: http://www.christianmcbride.com/gear.html Faith

Heavy sh1t, bubinga.. I just love Christian - saw him about a year ago with McLaughin and Korea - he was bangin' his black fretted Pedulla 5 - beasty thing, and there was some beasty groove... Monster player.

Any thoughts on this, chaps?

So, a little red power indicator (lamp) on my brand new EBS Drome gone quiet.. I've noticed a problem with it a while ago, when, it faded for some time, but, became once again OK after few minutes.. Now, during the last gig, it went totally 'quiet'.. It's no big deal, but, that indicator is useful thing just to know, if amp's turned on, so, I'd like to get it fixed.. Is there any big problem about it? And, why could it die? Just to remind you, amp\'s brand new, I have it only for a few months.. Cheers, Faith..
I started playing arpeggio lines to match vocal rhythms, I get a great kick out of it and boy, does it support the vocal - and it's a good playing challenge. I'm so enjoying playing at the moment
Sounds interesting, matey - is there any chance, you post some vid showing this in Youtube? Cheers, Faith.

Dunno about the album, but I wasn't that fascinated with Youtube vid, have to admit.. Is it a law to start every slap-tutor vid with a pile of trrrrrrriplets?
-
Classic, as always, Bilbo, cheers! Yup, I've got B-I-B, I'll try to get somethin' outta it. I've got one serie of Abersold playalongs, but it's Bob Cranshaw on bass, so it's not the best variant for a beginner..

I didn't want to make another thread, as I've done so not that long ago, so.. Question for you, jazzers, maybe silly-one, but, anyway.. How do you practice those jazz standarts? I mean, with all rock/pop/funk stuff everything's clear - here's the exact tune, you nail it, and that's the trick.. But, jazzy standarts - there are A LOT of versions of an each tune, right.. Different bands and stuff.. So, how do you 'choose' the best one (tune), and, even more important, where do you look for 'em to practice to? I have a bunch of standarts (notations), that I'd like to practice to (blues mainly), but I don't know, where to look tunes for.. Other thing is, I wouldn't like to play on a tune, where bassline already is - how do you solve that? I mean, jazzy lines are improvised, so, when you don't want to meet an existing bassline in a recording, maybe you use basseless versions of jazzy tunes? Yours faithfully, Faith..

So, guys, Last night we've done a booked cover-gig in bikers' club festival, and a baaaaad thing happened.. During a break between sets there were some little shows/contests/strip sh1t, and during one a few assholes managed to bedabble two champagne bottles on the scene, and, OF COURSE, on our instruments.. My beloved Ibby's fingerboard was fairly wet in some places, and drummer's bass drum was too, not to mention guitards' stuff.. I thought, I'd kill those assh*les The bad thing I was quite a bit away from scene, when the sh1t was happening, but my bandmates didn't spot it also, during the 'action'..... The question is simple - is such sort of crap, like champagne very bad for bass fingerboard? Not to forget, I've cleaned fingerboard, just when I saw it, but, whatever.. It costed me about 800 quid, so, you know the thing.. F*ck, I'm so pissed... Now, goin' to give a wash to my gear.. (EBS, Line6 XT Live, two Ibbies... omfg)
-
But that was posted not that long ago.. We need some fresh meat!
-
Heard, they're very serious ones.. Expensive as hell, but, compared to the quality, I think, it's worth a go.. A friend of mine has bassy AER, and he only prefers high-class stuff, but, damn, I can't ask for his thoughts about it at the moment.. Not much help there, tho, Faith..
-
Now I know all results.. 29 chaps done it, 7 were better than me, 1 chap got the same as me.. It's not that bad now, but I'm still not sure, if I'll get the non-paid place..
-
So, I've just got to know my exam results.. I've got 55% at all.. Can't say I'm very happy, as I won't get a lot bonus from other subjects, but, on the other hand, I don't know, how other chaps done with it.. But I'm a bit pissed now. I thought, I've done a bit better.. Faith.
SX FTW!!!
It was asked not to list cheapo copies, below-Squier ones..
-
That's some great advice out there, chaps! Keep it comin'! Cheers, Faith.
-
I didn't like it, when I tried... Not user-friendly at all, imho... but, HEY, chaps, c'mon, give me some thoughts on this..
-
Doesn't he play Alleva Coppollo basses?
-
Any ideas, chaps?

Use a programme, that lets you to 'hook up' the bassline one or even two octaves - it will be nuts to hear bass then, actually, all, you'll hear, will be the bass, practically.. And, yup, sing it, when you hear it..
-
I'm doing Stevie Wonder's - I Was Made To Lover Her, Jamerson's bassline.. Ok, I was preparing for my exams a lot, but, damn, I can't get to full song's speed for a good month now! Damn that Jamerson..
-
I'm afraid, I don't have it..

Wattabout uploading - it's very simple - just log on Youtube, and click 'Upload' - that's the whole trick... And you can upload files even up to 2gb now! Otherwise, you can always change your vids' format, into 'smaller', but not that 'detailed' one Hope, this helps, Faith. P.S. I'm thinking of putting this whole question to Geneneral Discussion, as no-one seems to be interested here..
