1. So, I've got few local music-news websites in my Toolbar group, but I was wondering if anyone here knows any good world-wide daily music-news websites? I mean, I could try using Google, but I don't want to read anything related to Britney Spears and her pants cost, and so on... so I have a hope that you know some good music-news webs, eh? Bass related news are also appreciated
2. Well, gotta mention, that the only thing I don't like about him is when he uses octaver and 'tries' to be gu1tar-like when soloing.. I don't see any reason here. Well, if you still mind, I'll get my coat then.
3. Is his stuff with Madonna interesting?
4. minimum means roll 'em both off, right?
5. I'm at the moment diggin' into Doug Wimbish's stuff, mainly with Living Colour.. I won't be bothering with effects he uses (they're all listed in his website, BTW..), but I wanted to know if there's somebody who analysed his playing techniques? I dig most of 'em, but, the one, that's strange to me, is like he is 'knocking' his bass with open-hand. that is mainly put against the fretboard.. So, can anyone give a few more words about his tech? I'd be happy, Cheers, Faith BTW, there's a great quality Living Colour gig, that was about a month ago..
6. Well, I think it's definetly more practical to play with narrow spacing - speed, when crossing strings, and sh1te like that.. Though, I'm doing a bit of slapping now, and my both Ibbies are with 16.5mm spacing - don't see any problem here, it just takes some time to dig in. Well, again, that probably depends on personal taste. Cheers, Faith.
7. I don't dig one thing about string spacing.. IMHO, 6 strings tells a bit about the, let's say, approach to bass playing, so, in this case, what should be the problem, should a wide string spacing be, not narrow.. Or I'm wrong? And, damnit, OP, this whole thing should be in Ibaneeezes thread... Don't mind, just kidding, cheers, Faith.
8. Hey, chaps, got a questie here.. So, I own Ibanez GSR205 - that's a cheapo active 5-string, but it's OK as backup instrument. Now, I don't understand one thing - how to set this bass EQ flat? We've got four knobs here - two volume knobs (for each pickup), one PHAT II EQ knob (wtf?? let's say it's bass boost knob..), and one so-called Tone knob (Highs knob..) So again, 4 knobs - Neck Vol/Bridge Vol/Bass/Highs... All knobs rotate 'between' 0 to 10. So, if I want to set my bass flat, I've gotta roll Bass and Highs off, and both Vol knobs set on full? Thanks in advance, Faith.
9. With a decent respect to Bruce's fans, I've gotta say that his P sound on that video.. Dunno, it just doesn't do the trick for me. Ok, I'm getting my coat.
10. Daaaah, mate, here's the Big thread about Ibbies!... Can't tell about the price at the moment... I'll just get my coat then. Cheers, Faith.
11. Maybe you can tell us serial number? It should be clear then.. I'll check the model later. Btw, HERE's a thread, where you can post all your questions about every Ibby
12. Somehow it left me cold. It's probably because he didn't look that concerned about music.. What's that tune, btw, Kiwi?
13. Ah, today I've discovered Doug Wimbish - watched a bit of his playing and effect using - gotta say, it was tasty. Furthermore, today I've practised two times - before 'seeing' Doug, and after. In a meantime I'm quite unhappy about my 'relationship-situation' with bass, but, after this little 'Doug-influenced' practice, I'm going to bed with smile in my face Hail Doug.
14. Yup, I think that's the same model I've bought for my guitards brother, only 4-string version... I didn't play it for long, though, quite liked it. How could I annoy it, anyway..
15. Cheers, I was also doubting about Ebony... It does seem expensive wood too, ye? Got a deep look into my SR Prestige, looks like it's Rosewood there.
16. +1 to all above, but, other questy... Is that Ibanez in your avatar? If not, I'm right getting my coat then..
17. Hey, fellow Ibby-friends Gotta question for Prestige series owners or historians... I was looking a bit of info about my Ibanez SR1005EWN Prestige for my new website, and I've found this.. In Ibanez Register it's written that 2005 year 1005EWN Prestige model had Ebony fretboard.. In Ibanez.com I found that SR Prestiges have Rosewood fretboard.. So, did they stop doing them with Ebony fretboard, or there's somewhere a mistake.. ? Cheers, Faith.
18.
I hadn't heard much of his electric playing before but he was right on it that night; funky as hell on that fretless Pensa.
Lastnight he was actually 'jerking' his Atelier Z 5-string fretless It sounded awesome. And he was playing through Hartke cabs.. Though, in his website it's written he uses Epifani family mainly. But, the thing that actually shocked me - he uses Boss ME50 in his setup [didn't see it on stage, website again..] A bit strange choice here, or is it just me?..
19. My actual god, their bassist/upright bassist, Mr. Christian McBride was a total kill.. Tight as f*сk, interesting to listen in solos, groovy and cachy. I'm just lack of words. BTW, gig was good enough, though, the front-line [Korea, McLaughin and especially Garrett] sucked b*lls sometimes.. When Garrett played about 5 minute [ or maybe it was about 10, i don't actually know] solo, I thought, I'll throw somethin' at him - it was so tawdry.. Sorry all Garrett fans, but it was truly terrific.. Rhythm section was very good - I also enjoy Colaiuta's [or however it is written..] playing. Can't tell anything about solos, as I don't get drummers' solos, but my fellow drummer from band said it was awesome. Let it be here Their tour has just started, but comments on them are greatly appreciated here.. Once again, McBride is god. And I'm more and more and more starting GAS'sing for fretless bass.. It's not only McBride's fault, Bona's too...
20. Guys??? Maybe I'd take a bargain... :brow:
21. Actually, I didn't understand the whole thing 100%... (greet my poor English here..) Could ya explain it in other words?
22. When watching other live version, I've found this... Look at the comments below - it seems like Sade's drummer... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwusTuUnQ70&NR=1 And, btw, Mr. Denman seemed to enjoy playing ala Mr. Jamerson - one finger picking, two fingers only when there's a need of 16th notes, or triplets, etc... watch about 2:47 for this.. 2nd Btw - I'm doing this song at the moment - believe me, it's quite a challenge - little trifles in probably every section.. I mean, it's more of a challenge to remember all those mini-changes...
23.
A friend of mine is thinking about getting a RB850... It's offered for about £200... It goes in Ebay for about the same price.
