Anything by U2. Generally good and interesting bass playing, mired in pretentious sh!t.
I'd talk about 'em in opposite way

Looks something like Jonas Hellborg's one, eh?

So, I'm just back from the gig... Honestly, from small after-party, but, anyway, there was a gig before... So, we were gigging in our capital, Vilnius - Lithuania's quite small, so, no big prob with travelling - about an hour trip... A friend-of-bandmate asked me to help in his White Metal (in other words, Christian rock..) project, as their bassist was having a gig with his main group tonight in other city... Aaaand, the event was - sorta Christian-festival with sorta Christian-bands.. We had even two rehearsals before, but, as their stuff ain't that tricky [pure 4/4 heavy-rock/metal...], it was quite easy.. The hardest thing was to remember riffs (and even song names, to be honest... ), but, then, I repeat, we had two rehearsals... Got to the place about an hour before our 'play'... There was some nice Ampeg combo [don't know the model..], but I didn't get enough time to take the 'right' sound.. It was OK actually, but not good. Nice event, all in all, and, a good amount of practise for me Btw, I've hated both bassists' sound, that were before and after us... Where's the real need to turn the mid [high middies, actually], treble, and, practically no bass... It wasn't a solo-bass-day event, at last.. One was Yammy [TRB, I think], other - Thunderbird.. Both were sh1te. Ibbies own. Faith.

A few months ago I've joined Modern Metal team, called Sound Injected... Records are quite old (of course, without me then...) But, still, you can check us out right There

What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???

Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeender. Sorry. But, that's how it is... -
His nirvana black oiled finish Warwick Streamer (LX?) 4 at the O2 looked really, really nice. I'm not normally a fan of Warwicks but I may have an attack of GAS coming ... oh no
Dunno, where were you lookin' at during the gig, mate, but this Warwie ain't no 4er

Yannick Koffi - 9 year old funky bass player... he's got it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DshBvqxjmQ...feature=related Yup, he's quite muddy with timing... I'd probably go for an other young guy, who plays a bit easier lines, but is tight as f*ck. We always talk about timing importance, right? -
What da hell? I haven't seen 4-stringy Warwick in his arsenal, only fivers... Though, I haven't seen the whole 'new album' live thing, only photos... But the only 4er that I remember from earlier shows was sorta P-bass that he was using on Fuel, Motorbreath... You could see it clearly there, on Ozzy's cover Though, all those 'new' basses his using, and I've also spotted were fivers... It smells like Ibby!... ;-) 'Pure' SR copy from image, except the body - couldn't find similarity on Ibby, though, maybe it a lil bit goes to JTK, doncha think like that, Mike? Cheers, Faith there ;-)

No one?... ^_^ I'd try to 'fix' something till next rehearsal tomorrow..

So, I've noticed a few rehearsals before, but... To start with, I've got cheapo Ibanez GSR205 5-string bass. The problem lies in E string's 3rd fret, which would be G - it's slightly louder than other notes around it or even lower, for e.g. 3rd fret on B string... 3rd fret on E sounds waaay too boomy in comparison with other fellow notes. No matter, how much compression I use, the result's practically the same. Other interesting thing - it happens 'only' on my oldy Trace Elliott Commando amp - I haven't noticed the 'G's sounding problem on my Laney RB2... Maybe it's due to different sound levels - Trace 'lies' in rehearsal room, and Laney one is for home-practising. I'll try my Ibby on Ashdown someday, but, it shouldn't be the amp causing problem, really, right?... I really hate this sound-level-sh1te, cuz, firstly I can't naturally 'attack' G note as other, and, secondly, sound-difference scares my gu1tards and pushes them to turn their volume up...
Jamiroquai - Runaway (Got stuck in my head and HAD to get it down).
Hehe, man, I've done the same! How are you doin' with timing? Sh1t's heavy though
-
I ain't tryin' to say it looses low end absolutely... But it looses. Ok, when Mid Freq is fairly low, difference isn't really big, but, hell, it exists, and I can feel it. And, it's not hard to check the difference, as you know - knob on/knob off P.S. it can't be bugger. It's fresh and new. And, finally, I'm really not the very first one to complain about low end, am I...?
-
I've took it yesterday from a local shop to try, but... Sh1te, it loooses low end! What do you do about compensating it? Playing with EQ stuff or somethin' else?
-
Dunno much about others, but, Jaco stuff for STARTING? Relax, dudes...

Anybody can help me out there? Dah, I've gotta go to tutor next weekend, and, without tracks, it could be hard for me then..
Think the point is the tools used to create the art, as in who cares what sort of brushes Degas or Rembrandt used to paint, the same way as does it really matter in regards to using a pick?
Yep, but if we look at this from the 'techy' side, pick/fingers aren't the same things, as the brushes are, right? As the 'tech-mastering' way - one is quite short, compared to another, and the second is waaay longer.. So, that's what separates gu1tards from bassists in bass-playin' case there... I really don't want to start another thread about pick/finger questy, but, if ya asked, then I gotta say - yes, it DOES matter to me, mate While not that very much, but it does... All the best, pick-freak, Faith
I really hope that's a joke. Squire and Entwistle use/used picks. So does Steve Swallow. So does Anthony Jackson. Do you hear Paco De Lucia saying to John McLaughlin "well you're ok, but to be really good you want to stop using that pick". Do you have to establish what kind of brushes Degas or Rembrandt used before you'd consider them great painters?
What, if it ain't? Really, I dunno - in some point it was, in some wasn't. Though, can you comment a bit more about what Degas/Rembrant's brushes have to do with pick/fingers question?

Vintage V800BK. Can't tell if it was good or bass, as I wasn't actually playing bass at that time. Only in rehearsals. Seriously.

Whitesnake - Too Many Tears Faith No More - Easy, to name a few rock-ballad basslines... They're so tasty! I hope, I'll be finishing Dream Theater's - Constant Motion and Metallica's - One in days... DT's just for fun, and Tallica's for my tribute band... Oh, and I've done Pastor of Muppets not that long ago...

Nevertheless, it's nice. Nice and not-going-boring. I enjoyed that.
