1. Gary Thain, one of the very very best. Certainly one of the most melodic. The likes of Sunrise, Blind Eye, Sweet Freedom were just so influential on one particular aspiring young bass player. Pity he is now an aspiring old bass player and still can't play them properly!
2.
These any good for slap bass? I imagine this would play more like a gibson with that bridge design, or maybe an old style precision. Ben.
Sorry Ben, I can't answer that, I have never learnt or played slap style. Might be an idea to ask TommyK who is selling his. He may have tried slap on his? The bridge is better, IMO, than the 3 point Gibson ones. Bit like Warwick bridges? Cheers, Karl.
3. Thanks fellas, for all your help and advice. Andy Phillips is going to do a tracing of his for me, so hopefully I will be able to get sorted. Gigs are just not right for me without her (whadya mean pathetic )
4. Further PM's replied. Ryan and Martyn, both VERY tempting offers, thank you. Karl.
5. Thanks Big Stu. Looks like I'm going to have to try something like that. No response from the guy at his other business address either. My main gigging bass (you know, the one that fits your hand as soon as you pick it up) has been out of action for 3 weeks, God knows how much longer with my cacl handed tracing/cutting attempts. I could crush a bloody grape
6. Some of you people have no taste . BUY this man's bass Bump.
7. Thanks Gary. The wife has just rang me to tell me the cheque hasn't been cashed, which is something. The biggest blow is I can't use my bass until I figure out how to get a scratchplate, made from, rem, nothing really. Will try Yamaha UK, but it's a bit of an unfair ask on them. Cheers, Karl.
8. I have found out through Faecesbook that apparently the guy running this has jacked and the bike shop next door is taking over the shop. I sent my 17 year old Yam scratchplate to him 3 weeks ago, and have been trying to phone him for the last 3 days. The website is still running, although now the contact section isn't working. It was at the time. I will get the Mrs to find out today if my cheque has been cashed. If it has, I will be taking legal action for fraud. If it hasn't and I receive no reply by the 15th through the other company he seems to have had, I will be taking legal action to recover my scratchplate and all costs. I rarely swear, but this behaviour has left me severely pissed of. I have not been able to use my main gigging bass for 3 weeks and won't be able to until I can get my plate back. I had a problem with my last plate from them in June, but they sorted it out well enough in the end. I should have taken the hint. If I don't get it back I don't know what I can do, as the plate holds the rotaries in place .
9.
Thanks for the feedback folks. Maybe I should just go with the flow. Just out of interest I've done quite a few deals on here, both buying and selling, with only one unfortunate outcome. Would I buy from a seller sight unseen? Possibly. One of those sellers would be karlfer. Geoff
That's very humbling to see that Geoff. Now, please buy my FenderBird . Seriously though, very few are in DIRE need of a sale/trade. If we are honest with ourselves, it's a fair amount of GAS and instant gratification coming into play. If in doubt, don't go ahead, another deal is not far away and it may well be one you are happier with. Good luck. Karl.
10. Looks like a "careful with that sander eugene" to me.
11. Great price for a wonderful bass. Sign of the times this is still here. Good luck, Karl.
12. Brilliant Pete, well done. Nice playing, good track. Where's the emoticon for jealous . Congrats.
13. Personally I would look elsewhere. I don't have a camera, just a phone, but I always take pictures. It would worry me if somebody can't be arsed to take photos. I think it is insulting to their potential buyers. Just me, Karl.
14. Is it that bad? Bump.
15. I was after a 410L, but the price with the flightcase is way out of my budget. Just out of curiosity, and for others looking, is this four front firing, or 2 front, 2 slant firing please? Bump. Karl.
16.
Is it defo a P-bass profile? Looks almost Jazz-like, though that could be camera angles causing that.
42 mm, not quite 50's width but very definitely Precision. Don't take any notice of my photos, I haven't got a clue . Thankfully my feedback helps a little. Now for sale only I'm afraid, just landed a higher vat bill than expected Cheers, Karl.
17. The blue one that is up has attracted a lot of interest. It started off at £850, however it is mint. Mine has a few chips and dints so I think £650 is more than fair. Yet virtually no interest? Please buy this so I don't have to put my Lakland DJ4 up or sale
18.
Ha...Yes. I bought a PA today so well and truly cleaned out! I've also just ordered a neck pup ash tray for the 'mist' just to kinda complete the look. I've given her a good clean, fretboard oil and raised the bridge pup which was completely flush with the body when I bought her. She 'plays' better than any of my other basses, quick neck and low buzz free action. I'd be very sorry to see her go! You've put me in a right quandary! LC
Mhw ha ha Bump.
19.
I've recently scored the wine red/rosewood version. Apparantly 150 were made, 45 got to Europe and 9 to the UK. The first 50 were signed by the VP quality control at the Corona plant (all of these stayed in the US I'm told). Nothing to say Fender won't do another run at a later date, LC
Good, so you will need to get some funds back by selling the Burgundy Mist then (thread hijack, but bump)
20.
Yes, 10 people have mislaid their case candy from their 50th Anniversary Jazz Basses, (it's easily done).......
21. Why on Earth is this still here? It looks fantastic with that blue and a maple board and Tom only does great 'uns. Bump.
22. We are waiting for pictures you know Cheers, Karl.
23. As you are unlikely to post this, it may help your sale if you let us know whereabouts you are. For example, I live in Wigan but if it's collection only and you live in Margate, I'm out. Welcome to Basschat and good luck with your sale, cheers, Karl.
