1.
The colour is certainly not original. The jazz pickup is not original. The lack of markers on the fretboard is highly suspicious - the seller's suggestion that it may have been fretless originally doesn't ring true to me. Pictures of the pots will undoubtedly show that they're not original - they can't be because of the added pickup. And for the same reason the pickguard cannot be original as 70s Fenders only had two knob guards. At best you might have a few bits of a 70s P but it's not worth very much IMO
Good grief, I was pretty much right then. Not like me!
2. Aw shucks Dingus, you are too kind
3. Good move chaps. As you were.
4. Turks Head Darlington about 1980 H|H, Kasuga Faker, South Park Darlington 1980, Kasuga Faker, Acoustic combo (not mine) Middlesbrough Rock Garden 1981, Peavey T40, H|H, The Bath, Morecambe, 2012, Fender FSR Shuttle 6, Schro 410BMF. By the way, the guitarist on the right in the first three moved away. He has now played with our very own Dr Dave for about 15 years I think. Edit, oh Sod it, based on every dog has it's day, and excerpt from Vic Reeves Me:Moir
5. I know a bit but no expert. 1. Almost guarentee that is a re-fin 2. Not sure about neck/fretboard from those pics but highly dubious it came out of the factory like that. IF it came out of the Fender factory. 3. Pickguard should have a label underneath with the same serial number as headstock. 4. Jazz pup and extra rotary are definitely after market additions. I would be wanting photos of neck off, pickguard off and close up of pots as I really not sure how much, if any, of a Fender 70's P is left. Someone who knows a lot more than me will comment before long I would guess. Karl.
6.
I'm not sure I've ever unsubscribed to a thread I started before. Well, there's a first time for everything.
sometimes WOT, it's laugh or cry.

Right, come on you lot, back into the playground and leave the poor lad alone
8. As ever Skank, the true voice of reason. I wonder who would have missed you most, The Diplomatic Corps or the stand up circuit I'm off to look at gear porn. There are two people on this site whose self opinionated, condescending, "I'm right, if you disagree you must bow to my superior intellect" diatribes are getting right on my tits and have been for a few weeks. Meanwhile, Welcome Guy, it's a privelege to have you here and joining in. Karl.
9.
Only if you are given a platform to express yourself on.
So if the BNP (other political parties are available, thankfully) get a platform in a public place they can say whatever they want(Sorry icastle, not aimed at you). For crying out loud. Milty is it just you always want the last word? Meanwhile, WELCOME GUY, brilliant to have you on Basschat.
10.
Of course it does, and I have said that, but we still have the right to say whatever we want. The consequences of that are another matter.
We don't
11. Not surprised it's "cheap". Been up a few times as well.
12.
We all have the right to freedom of speech, do we not? Nothing can take that away from us. But, that doesn't mean you should always exercise that right to it's fullest extent, and why we need to self-edit to keep things moving along in a friendly way.
I saw some of the absolutely hateful results of freedom of speech with some extreme racist/ religious vitriol on Faecesbook in the aftermath of the Boston bombings (both "sides"). With freedom of speech comes responsibility and hopefully a little humility and sensitivity.
13.
Well my pedal settings on my Boss GT10b for Sorrow went down a storm at rehearsal last night!! Haven't listened to the rehearsal recording yet, but can't wait. So all I can say is thanks Guy!! All down to you, you top man. So please don't leave... I may need more help as we increase our setlist from the Floyd back catalogue
+1 Bugger, I didn't kill a thread, I'm slipping
14. I took great exception to something Kiwi said a couple of weeks back regarding Margaret Thatcher. His opinion came over as fact and it was extremely biased. In my eyes some of his comment was very offensive. I was even more annoyed because of his position. Moved on, didn't comment simply because I would have lost the plot with the way he put himself over in the thread. Like many others I missed the original controversy regarding him and Guy(and have spent hours looking for it! lol) Guy is an inspiration to a huge amount of us and frankly for those of us who are admirers, our own bed has been sh*t in. Really, personal attacks at any level are pretty pathetic, but we have to accept with so many people here, some are going to hide behind a wall and throw bangers over it. Sad. I hope Guy comes back and can contribute whatever time he can spare. I know I would not be alone in being grateful for that. Threadkiller Karl.
15. Not for me, completely spent out, BUT, perhaps you may consider part trade and cash, with a trade bass that may move on quickly? That may appeal to some members? Bump.
16. Hell, can I use more than one finger
17. Your point? Bullet are top class leads, based on the 70's curly lead. If you stand next to your amp, they just hang down from bass and go up to amp. You move 30 feet from your amp and they uncurl. To be honest. with 500/600 watts of decent amp, EQ and cab I think you can adjust to compensate for any perceived signal weakening. Personally I got pissed off with tripping over another 20 feet of cable lying on the stage and reverted to the style of lead I used in my youth.
18.
Yeah, it's great, isn't it?
Yup, and you are responsible Master
19. Bullet curly lead from bass to amp then it doesn't matter what size the stage is, it's covered. OBBM for EVERYTHING else.
20. For no other reason that I have finally learned how to do this sort of thing
21.
Clarky, it's superb mate! I really the song, the vocals are really well recorded, great mix and recording in general, I love the trippy surf reverb. The snare work is f***ing crisp! And yer man makes my guitar sound wicked Bass is excellent in the way that I hardly noticed it was there, it makes the song sound better without being obtrusive and part of that is in the perfect timing, but when I hear it I really like it, it's a rich, warm texture. I like the spaghetti western kinda vibe too. It's really lovely mate, you should be well proud of this.
What e said, e's elequent, I ain't!
22. A USA Precision for £600, about the same price as many second hand Japanese Precisions/Jazzes (MOST of which have poorer p'ups, imo). As most of us know most of these fellas only get better with age. For goodness sake somebody treat themselves to a possible lifelong workhorse and friend. Karl.
23. Nice one, well done. Keep listening, keep practising, keep bricking it and you will have a greay gig. Enjoy. Karl.
