1. Andy, Fender stated back in the day that the California Series were US hardware put together in Mexico. They also stated the "new Precision Special Deluxe Series" had the pick of the woods coming in to Ensenada. Or they did when they advertised them in Bassist and Bass Guitars (remember that ?)
2. Excellent price and excellent honesty!!!! Well done that man. GLWTS
3.
What if it's an older passive model? Will it still have the better pick ups and hardware? Somewhere I've read they had the pick of the wood that came in. Anyone know for sure?
Yup, pick of the wood in the Ensenada plant. If the one you are looking at is one of the 1999/2001 passive P/J's with jazz profile neck, they are fabulous basses ime. Very well made, great components, easy to set up. I recently missed out on a fabulous 1999 white/maple/glodscratchplate one and was gutted. My main gigging bass is a 2014 Sea Foam Pearl Factory Special Run, based on exactly that model.
4.
I very nearly had a bitter fuelled moment with this last night!
That refers to Saturday then. I had some bitter moments on Saturday as well. Namely the 3 hours it took to do J22 to J20 westbound on the M62 . Hence the delay in replying to PM's on Saturday. Anyway, all Sat/Sun/Mon PM's now replied to, ta very muchly
5. Stunning. Marten's work at his best
6. Your link is denying access??
7. All further PM's replied, thank you. Between here and other avenues I've had 17 offers of trades and 32 questions. Almost tempted to run a book on the 1st one to come up with the cash on 31st Anyway, decision made, if it's not gone by around the 2nd, well, that will be 3.5 weeks advertised, which to me is a sign to retire it under the bed for a few months. Many thanks to all that have expressed an interest so far, cheers, Karl.
8. Splendid bit of kit. Obviously quality, but one thing I liked about gigging one of these, was putting it on a chair, angled backwards, so you can really hear yourself. Great design. GLWTS
9. Absolute steal. Great colour ( especially with a pearloid cream scratchplate). Damn it being a rosewood board Somebody's gonna get lucky
10. Lot of interest Dunc, but it's the usual, folk needing to sell to fund. I am fairly optimistic it will be gone by 31st Dec. My other two road worns went in roughly 24 and 48 hours respectively. Sale only now I'm afraid
11. Presumably one of these splendid beasts http://www.b-lowbass.co.uk/product/410l/ Some photos of the actual cab (all 6 sides) would really help your sale. Merry Christmas
12.
Where is it?
Jeez, that's embarrassing after all this time Wigan (stop laughing ).
13. Sorry for the sharpish update, but very nice trade under consideration, plus one guy looking to raise the cash quickly. All PM's now caught up. If you are interested, might be a touch of speak now Cheers, Karl.
14. This laddie had this bass up at £2000 on Facebook a couple of months back. It has steadily gone down in the ensuing weeks. I might just mail him saying if you got it given and I give you £700, we should both be happy. I personally reckon that would be a decent price as they are about £1100 new and few have come up for resale yet. Then again, mebbes not
15. Pics Isa, we gotta have pics
16.
Nice colour, very cool! The AV74 Jazz's are very good indeed - even as a normally non-Jazz player, I like 'em a lot. Mark at Bass Direct has one at a good price at the mo as well......apologies for adding to your GAS.... GLWTS sale anyway!
Cheers Mr. Bob. Yup the one at Mark's at £1350 + courier is a nice bass, but rosewood board He also has an 11 year old AV75RI at the same price as my bass, very nice and tempting All the best, Karl.
17. Thanks guys, very kind. It's my last rosewood board so no big hurry. The trades I'm looking far aren't too common. Despite it being a reasonable price for such a bass, £1000 is still an awful lot of money to find, so I don't really expect it to go too quickly. Especially at this time of the year . Cheers, Karl.
18. I'm in touch with a couple of guys on here who are interested. There's 2 guys on FB who say they will get back to me on 31st (pay day). Must admit cameltoe, your comments have got me thinking about a Mighty Mite jazz neck, and some lollipops
19. Cheers FEND3R, it is indeed a very nice bass. PM's replied thanks, Karl.
20. As per title, Factory Special run, link to specs http://www.gak.co.uk...El90aAjVr8P8HAQ Oops apologies, I'm in Wigan. Few months old, selling as don't get on with rosewood. Light at 8lb 6oz, fitted with La Bella Deep Talking flats. One tiny dink, treble side of bridge pick up, but this nitro finish is built to age quickly. Brand new (£140) Fender Pro Series Tweed/orange finish hard case. Extra £35 for UK insured courier. HOWEVER, I WOULD MUCH PREFER TO TRADE, with either an AV74RI Jazz, or one of the latest series American Deluxe Jazzes (maple board, active/passive, 4 string. I'm not convinced about moving this on, as it's gorgeous, BUT, it's rosewood so unlikely to get much use. Feedback at bottom of thread. Cheers, Karl. Apologies for photos, only Noah taking pictures outside! 21. Legendary bass maker, bass and bassist Mr Murray, I guess it would be possible to get that wondrous beast adapted to EADG ?
22.
Now, I know the prices on these have gone up in the past couple of years, but surely sir, you are taking the wotsit with this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191742538109
Meh, ya, Grinch, it's free postage What are you, a Yorkshireman
23. Gorgeous G&L, 'av a bermp
24. All further PM'S replied thanks folks. Offers of two different US G&L's in one day Both rosewood boards , but both GREAT looking, quality basses. And a happy Christmas to you to Phil
25. Hmm, slap bass. If I wanted to slap things about, I'd have learned to drum. I just can't listen to slap. Mr King has a phenominal reputation, but from his early days, simply not for me. I'm that bad, whenever I watch any kind of video, as soon as the slap starts, it gets closed. Now, John Paul Jones, was he.......................
