You'd be wise to consider my Tecamp M212 I've for sale in the classifieds. That paired with either amp you mention would handle anything! D.
Yes and it would have been mine if it had come up before Jose The Red seduced me Seriously though the TecAmp will do pretty much for anything, either on it's own or DI'd through FOH.

ANY LIFE IN BOLTON???? Oh come on whadya expect from Wigan Welcome to the forum Mr. Hat. North West Bands is worth a look (although admin doesn't happen and you need to sift through the huge amount of spam). Go to the Community page http://nwb.co/

As per title, final inspection Oct 2011 American Jazz Deluxe first bought in 2012. Link to specs will be attached (unfortunately I don't have the cable or strap locks). Very good condition with a few tiny dints my crap photography skills can't pick up. The case has some white paint marks and slight scuffs but is in excellent condition. http://www.thomann.d...b.htm#bewertung Lovely satin neck, sort of a 70's Jazz, but with passive/active, stealth A string retainer, graphite rods and 18 volt pre amp. Weight 9lb 6oz, normal sort of jazz weight really. Bad time to sell as they are getting replaced by the Elite in March, so the last few available are reduced a bit. I WOULD LIKE to trade, ideally for a USA 75 reissue, but happy to chat about other possibles. Sale would be £950 collected or £990 INSURED courier in UK. Photo no 7 looks like it has a scratch, it's just the light, no scratch. Any trial in Wigan would be great. Feedback at bottom of post. Sorry about the photos, cheers, Karl. I bought 2 C4's just before Christmas, from Thomann. Returned them the following day. Nothing like enough coming out of them for me and at the time I had a PUMA 900! Only an opinion, and for my circumstance; Sound wonderful. NOT enough for either of the 4 piece rock bands I'm in. Would be fabulous for something like jazz at not too high volume.
Thanks for the info. My post above is the headstock of my lefty AliExpress 4005 interpretation. Picture straight after unboxing. And a picture in almost full modified glory, only thing still missing was the new trussrod cover. It needed some attention in several spots before I was really happy with it. Most of of what I had to do was fixing 'just off' things. - Center aligned the pickups to the strings, the bridge pu was moved over by 3 millimeters, the neck pu by 1 millimeter. - Due to the moving of the pickups I also had to move the pickguard. - Reshaped the nut, they just put on a right handed one so this needed to be seriously modified, I'll probably make a new one in the future. - Gave the tuner bushings a few knocks on their head, they were mounted crooked, tuners are also not up to my standard so will be replaced later on. - The fingerboard had several less good looking and finished spots, re-finished these. - Crowned the frets where needed and polished them, they were level but rough finished in a lot of spots. - Changed the rotation direction of the pots, they were wired lefty so nothing wrong there, I just can't and won't cope with this reversed crap! - Done a full shielding of the controls cavity, there was none whatsoever. - Made a thumb rest. - Replaced the strap holders, what was on there was mounted with very thin and short screws, to leave those would have been waiting for an accident to happen. - Checked if all the screws and bolts were tightened and if they weren't tightened them (more often than not they were loose!). - Did a full and thorough setup. Conclusion: After all the things I did I mentioned above this bass has transformed into a very nice, good working and playing Rick 4005 interpretation. Sound wise it has some settings that can resemble the Rick sound very closely, luckily it also has it's own sound, the pickups sound good enough for me, only minus is that the bridge pickup is slightly microphonic but I can live with that. The lacquer and finish is not bad - there are some blemishes and rough spots, most blemishes are underneath the lacquer! This is another AliExpress bass I would advise not to buy to most people. If you are into tinkering it can be turned into something very good, if you are not you should stay away from these basses. The build quality on this one was a lot better in comparison to the two lefty Jazz V basses I bought through AliExpress before. These two needed some serious work to make them playable, straight from the box they were unusable. A better view of the new pickup alignment. Detail shot of the thumb rest.
Lovely bass That thumb rest is a piece of jean yus, thank you for that. Hope you won't mind me sharing it elsewhere I have an incoming faker an that might just find it's way, cheers

I had a Special, like Matt has posted a link to. It's still on my avatar. The original owner did over 800 gigs with it. I did over 200 with it. I only sold it after I seriously bashed it twice in one night (clumsy). Coludn't bear to look at the damage I'd done. Unlike the very high priced Attitudes 1,11, 111, these don't have DiMarzios, scalloped frets, detuner, push/pull treble cut or two outputs. They do have a generally easier to play neck, at 40mm nut as opposed to the real baseball bats on the Attitudes. The generic Yamaha pick ups are truly excellent, giving you from lovely smooth Bad Co with just the neck pup to more growl than a pissed off Rottweiler if that is your thing. VASTLY UNDER RATED BASSES, imo. And frankly at £300, you would be extremely lucky to find a more versatile, better built bass.

Genzler Amplification Magellan 800 - now released!
karlfer replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've never had a problem with "volume", I'm just curious at the comments of Alex and Ashdown. I would like to know what amps are on full vol at half way round the rotaries. Their comments, not mine Just like some evidence of the statements. I don't usually troll but if you are going to make statements like that, it would be kinda good to back them up. -
Glockenklang have the most 'honest' volume ramping I've come across - very even increase in volume from 1 right through to 10
Thanks Roland, appreciated It's probably been done before, but might be a thought for a members anecdotal thread -
Genzler Amplification Magellan 800 - now released!
karlfer replied to Ghost_Bass's topic in Amps and Cabs
OK, so we have had two seriously acknowledged industry experts say the same thing. Both their brands are seriously respected. HOW do us Luddites find out which amps ARE NOT pulling this full power at half volume on the rotaries. These should be empirical facts so surely you guys can name the companies that do this, without fear of being accused of competetive bias? Your comments have left me confused and somewhat disappointed in some companies being a bit shy with the truth. -

Chris, are your systems going to be at the Formby Guitar Show this Sunday coming (February 7th ). -
I gigged the two TKS 1126's last night. As apparently they are a bit mid scoop, set up for how I considered I would need to deal with that. PUMA 500. Taste 1 o'clock Bass 10 o'clock Low mid 2 o'clock High mid 1 o'clock Treble noon Sounded bloody marvelous. Surprisingly they are the most "clear" sounding cabs I've had. Beautiful reproduction of every note, from the smooth bassy rumblings of John Paul Jones Zepp 2 era, to the real clank of Harris. I knew I was sh*t, these bloody cabs completely, irrevocably confirmed it. They are a touch bigger and heavier than I thought but they really are worth it. Great things , cheers Jose, you are a legend (and a damn nice chap to boot). Pic courtesy of little drummer boy (I wouldn't have missed my black jazz hiding behind the '79 Gordon Smith!). EDIT, oh, and notice the only one NOT mic'd up! Nae bother.
Not that he needs it, but some more positive feedback for Jose. Just bought his Barefaced Compact (after some very complex three-way communications and a number of other possibilities!). Cab exactly as described, at a very fair price, and delivered very locally to me. Excellent deal, great comms and highly recommended
I was the other part of the three way Jose frankly is a star, a lovely guy to deal with. Just a shame we didn't have enough time for a good long chat, as there were 3 of us involved, different places, late afternoon gig thrown in to complicate matters. Jose just sorted it all out. Thank you my friend, absolutely top class!!!

Markbass really pissed a lot of people off at the time. They didn't even tell DEALERS they had switched to Indonesia (2 years ago). Some dealers found out when they noticed "made in Indonesia" on the back. Markbass did not initially pass the savings on to the customer (ie reduce the prices). A few months down the line, they did reduce prices for the Indonesian stuff. Now folk who spent £1100 on a (for example) Jeff Berlin combo, are trying to sell them against the background of a new, £700, 3 year warranty piece. Little Mark 111's were pushing £700, the Indonesian ones are selling sub £400, new, 3 year warranty. Hence a glut of £250/£300 used Italian LM 111's. Markbass have caused a lot of depreciation issues for owners of Italian gear. They are not the 1st to have done this, but, IMO, they were the sneakiest the way they went about it.

Strange about everybodies tonal goals isn't it Last Sat night, BIG pub in Darwen, Lancs. 2 Black Star 2 x 12 gaytartists, 1 mic'd drummer with all the sensitivity of Viking invaders. Stuff with bass tonal variations from smooth John Paul Jones to clanky Steve Harris. Fender (Mex) passive P/J > PUMA 500 > 2 X TKS S112's. No problems, even from (far away) back of pub, according to wandering gaytartist. The S112's seemed to be very naturally "punchy" without fiddling with EQ. The only thing I would say is that I had to use a little more gain and vol on the PUMA than I had to use on my two previous Vanderkley EXT 112'S. But in fairness, the TKS S112's are a very small box so you do need to deal with that particular compromise. They are bloody good though. AND LIGHT
