Fender Precision USA 57RI + C&G Case - £700

After accidentally buying another black Precision with a maple neck today (a difficult one to explain to the wife), I'm needing to recoup some funds.

I purchased this bass from the forum recently and it is fantastic. It's light weight, resonant, lovely to look at and has real mojo.

Eagle eyed viewers may have seen Karlfers original ad, suggesting it appears to have been resprayed by Stevie Wonder on a Friday afternoon (or words to that effect), and that it requires a refinish. I on the other hand am a lover of vintage, reliced and roadworn basses, and really like the semi-matte, non perfect finish. I had intended to polish the bass to achieve a shine, but after receiving it I think its fine the way it is. If you're not convinced, some polish and elbow grease will see it right.

The bass has a passive EMG pickup and pots, and sounds great. Compared to my '71 P with a Lollar on board, the 57RI has more top, more bottom and more punch in the middle. However roll the tone knob back and you're in Pino town.

I think it's worth a lot more than the asking price, but in the interests of Basschat harmony, it's up for £700.

I'm in Margate, postage is fine.

Sorry didn't work out for you Jay (although like me, you really should stop looking at pictures of pretty basses  ).

From a couple of feet away, this just looks like a great, iconic bass.
It's an AV 57 RI with all the great qualities that go with that. AND IT'S DAFT LIGHT!!!!!

For the right person, this really is a terrific buy at a terrific price, and Jay is simply fabulous to deal with.
Happy new year fella and GLWTS

Jay, why explain two identical basses to Mrs Synchro, in my book that's one bass :)

Anyway, I'll take the bass mate, nearly pressed the button when Karl furst offered it. I'll get my people to talk to your people in the next day or two.

Bargain and a cracking project. I would have snapped it up if I didn't have to keep the funds back for my Bravewood! Good work Beedster. Next day or two? Let's hope the seller is more patient than some I've dealt with recently! (I'm sure he is😄)

I can already see this bass refin'd in vintage white or blonde, but I think a wet and dry with 1200, 1500, and 2000 then a polish will have it gleaming! Will need an anodized pickguard though!

There was an anodised plate with it I just didn't get round to putting it back on.

Thanks mate, I do like a project! Hope to get this slowly stripped and oiled over the next few months, if the grain won't take it then perhaps z very light blonde finish. I do like the necks on the 57s, and the gold plate on a natural body looks rather special :)

Thanks for all the nice comments, chaps. Mr Beedster has first dibs on this, which means it's going to be in excellent company!

Thanks Jay, it certainly will mate!
